Kohlers had a reputation for being bulletproof. Thanks for rescuing this old work horse from the scrapyard of history. Looking forward to hearing it run. Thank you for sharing your time and talent.
This came together nicely. Sometimes new points come with a coating on them that keeps them from oxidizing while on the shelf. In case you have spark issues and don't know why. Good luck with the startup.
I did notice the new points looked "corroded" thankfully I did sand it before putting it in. It makes sense now, at first I was like "dammit they sent me corroded points" But it was just a coating. It came off really easy.
Excellent work! The muffler is the only betrays it from being a factory fresh engine! Nice to finally see the producer of the videos too. I can't see any reason that engine shouldn't perform as good as new.
22:50 Battery positive goes to coil positive (this normally runs through a switch). Battery negative goes to engine ground or possibly the second terminal in your ignition system harness. After that the starter needs a positive run to the battery. Make certain you never leave the coil connected to the battery when the engine is not running. There is a slight possibility the engine can stop in a location that closes the points sending power through the coil. This is in effect a short, and the coil can only dissipate so much energy before it over heats and catches fire. Which could be an hour or two after you leave the shop... 23:07 The muffler is going to be challenging. Welding severely corroded thin sheet metal is almost always a loosing proposition. The good news is that engine uses really solid exhaust manifolds so some of the most challenging work is done for you.
This is the comment I have been waiting for. Thank you! Yes, I am not too sure what to do with the muffler, I know as soon as I start welding on it it's going to hiss and burn holes making everything worse. I am thinking of making a custom one.
Hi AJ. A great job and a perfect result. Your vids are a real pleasure to watch. Keep on rocking. Btw.... I've subscribed long time ago and with this vid your work get a face for the first time-fantastic . Greetings and regards from Germany.😊
Nice job. When it comes to the exhaust system; if you can make the flanges on each bank and put a small free-flow silencer, it should be ok in my opinion. it is not a high performance engine so as long as exhaust is not very restricted, it should be ok I guess. I look forward to seeing it running. Keep up the good work.

Its still good, the bearing for this one alone is about 50 USD where I live and spares has to be imported at a premuim. I gave it a clean and degreased it. Its ready for work.

You bet, This one is the mark 1 of the KT17 series and had a few lubrication issues. I hope this one last a good while now.
Thank you for the video. It was the perfect tempo for a lazy morning in bed while it was grey and gloomy outside.
Glad you enjoyed it! I love gloomy mornings, its perfect for stay in bed with coffee and pancakes.
Good morning AJ from Pennsylvania! Your engine looks great, what a transformation! Can’t wait to hear it run!

That is exactly what I plan to do. Will make a kind of a free flow manifold with a single large muffler.
Yayyyyyy Congratulations AJ
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota AJ

Yaaasssss! Assembly!!!

Yussie, I swear I heard the Roomys oom driving past when you were building the cam's....
I think that is the roomys oom! haha there is a newer truck also driving around with a newer jingle.
Kroller used to build quite the small engine back in the day.👍
*Kohler
And they still do.
@@Failure_Is_An_Option Kroller, and it went right over your head 😆
Gun gum boet. Hahaha! Great job so far
Nice job. I’m surprised Adendorf won’t provide you a welder.
It looks a million dollars!
I'm interested in that laser cutter. Share more on it.. where to buy

Hi why you wont restore tis part? 14:41 Not repainted, no new bearings full of rust..... Spared a few dollars?
Its still good, the bearing for this one alone is about 50 USD where I live and spares has to be imported at a premuim. I gave it a clean and degreased it. Its ready for work.
It's a clutch. It is not full of rust. That is how they look.
Looking forward to seeing it run, keep the fire extinguisher handy 🧯🤣
