TH-cam is awash with so many people visiting the usual tourist locations. Here you present a different perspective by visiting a lessor known prefecture which makes enjoyable viewing in my eyes . I am addicted to watching Japanese content and what you have shown here will see me follow your channel . Video content & quality are great and only added to he experience. Subscribed.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video as much as we did! Although we enjoy visiting so many of the top attractions in Japan, we know we will look back at this trip as one of our all time favorites. Great to have you subscribe as well!
Wonderful video! I have lived in Japan before. Japan has unique island landscapes and many hidden beautiful scenic spots. Leaving Tokyo and continuing to explore, and sharing your views!
Not to be too biased.... but we completely agree! Don't get us wrong, we loved so much about how we were raised, but we are jealous that our girls have experienced so many things at such young ages.
Wow! The place you visited this time, Izu, is exactly where I was born and raised until I turned 18. Your wonderful video made me rediscover its beauty. By the way, Kawazu is a famous tourist spot in Japan known for its Kawazu cherry blossoms, which can be seen in early March every year. Izu can be a challenging area to explore without a car, so it tends to have fewer tourists from Western countries, making it something of a hidden gem. I am Japanese and now living in the countryside of Gifu Prefecture, and you can find hidden gems here as well.
No way?? That is so fun to hear! While we were exploring the beautiful peninsula we talked about what it would be like to grow up in such a beautiful area!! And now we’ve met someone who has! Did you love it? We are happy it’s off the beaten path! 😊
@@OurStorytoTell Actually, my cousin currently lives in Izu. (The house originally belonged to my uncle.) His house even has a hot spring inside. When I was in elementary school, I used to visit every summer and enjoy swimming in the ocean. Dogashima, where you visited, is also a very beautiful place. Seeing the caves from the sea is a wonderful experience.
@@OurStorytoTell Gifu Prefecture is located next to Nagano Prefecture and is one of the few landlocked prefectures in Japan. It's far from Yokosuka. However, it boasts beautiful mountains and rivers, making it an excellent destination for camping. Famous tourist spots include Takayama, Tsumago and Magome, where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the Edo period, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Shirakawa-go. For family fun, I recommend campsites that are close to nature. Though it's more rural than countryside, places like Tsukechi Gorge in Gifu offer stunning mountains and rivers, perfect for camping. I have short videos showcasing the local scenery on my TH-cam channel, so please check them out if you're interested.
Glad you were able to explore and share some of the Izu pennisula. It really is a natural gem not too far from Tokyo, but best navigated by car so really doesn't see the overtourism that the cities get. More to see too, and definitely worth a return visit in the falltime
Thank you for visiting Izu! I have been to Izu many times since I was a child, and even when I was driving on an ordinary road, a (wild) waterfall suddenly appeared. There are many times. It is truly a place rich in nature. The Kakita River in Shimizu Town, Shizuoka Prefecture is considered one of the three major clear streams in Japan. There is also a park near the famous water, and you can also enjoy tofu jarat.
As much as i love Tokyo and other big cities, castles, temples and stuff like that, the little towns and nature is where the "real" Japan is at...at least in my opinion. And yes, "Hidden Gem" shouldn't be overused...problem is, in Japan you can't throw a rock without hitting the next hidden gem! 🤣 I'm really glad you get to experience the country off the beaten path. And without crowds, no less.
Such a great comment! AGREED! It’s so fun being able to experience all sides of Japan!! 😊 We are very happy with our location and that we were able to see it with minimal crowds! Our favorite trip in Japan so far!
