    Thanks for sharing this interesting piece. I really like knives such as this, I call them "modern classics" as they are taking an old school design and updating it with modern materials, but keeping it functionally traditional. I dig it...

    Another great offering from Sanrenmu. I really like this and I'm not a guy that's really big into slipjoints. There's another one that I liked that you reviewed last year I think it was. It's a Sanrenmu but it has a pin that you can insert to lock the blade open. Great brand and a great channel. Thanks for sharing and take care Jake. Oh and I would like to see another review of the 7063. 👍

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah yes, the 9165 - that is a very nice choice. The pin can be easy to loose in situations like if you are taking a walk in the woods, if you drop it, it might be gone gone, but it does stay in place very well to keep the knife locked open once it's inserted in the hole. I would suggest against the carbon fiber laminate version of that knife though, it's a bit too slick.

    Hey Jake, previously I had asked you what CJRB stood for and you came back with a very witty answer but I have finally found out what it stands for. China Jiang Ren Blade. Yang Jiang is the place in China but thats the meaning just FYI. Stay safe my friend.

    I like the blade shape. Another nice knife within my reach. WMK are out of stock on many of the SRM, TwoSon, and Petrified Fish knives. 😥😢 All the fixed blades are sold out. I'm going to have to go straight to their websites.

    I like that SRM knife a lot... not oversized blade with lots of belly 👍

      I quite like it too. It's still in my pocket - and the review was recorded days ago.

    Happy to see a cameo of your 7063! Thank you again for finding it for me to buy - so glad to finally have one in hand! I like this elegant little slip joint. A gentleman’s nessmuk! Love the ambi-clip. Can you buy a replacement clip if you lose it? Have you seen the CRKT Tailbone? Neck knife with an articulated bike-chain handle. Be interested in your take on it. Appreciate your budget bias and your knife knowledge - keep the vids coming!

      @CanadianCuttingEdge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am sorry, I don't know of any place where you can buy a replacement clip. Perhaps contact SRM knives if that ever happens. tell them you have the 7228 as it has the same clip - srmknives.com/

    • @josefhansson

      On aliexpress at least one seller also sells replacement clips.

    Actually SRM‘s laser character is a Japanese character, there is a clearly difference between Japanese calligraphy and Chinese. Although both of them are using soft writing bursh, Chinese calligraphy perfer crisp and sharp strokes in contrast to Japanese. Maybe SRM decided to use this character just because it is cute.

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand why you said what you did.
      Consider this: Japan uses three different alphabets (character sets). One of them is identical to the Chinese because they borrowed it from the Chinese. Sanrenmu is a Chinese company so naturally they use Chinese on their knives. China and Japan do not get along at all. It would be like an American company labeling their products in Russian during the height of the Cold War, I doubt their sales would do very well.

    • @zhenbiaoli297
      @zhenbiaoli297 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CanadianCuttingEdge "China and Japan do not get along at all".Yes, for the most time you are right. But there is a special time around 80’s to late 90‘s called "Honeymoon" between them. Chinese gov. introuduced a ton of Japanese culture and products into China along with Japanese investment. National TV played Japanese drama at 20‘o clock, and teached Japanese language. Chinese even invited emperor of Japan to the Forbidden City. Hatred and War crime are shifted to Imperial Japan‘s leaders who were dead decades ago, and war reparations are gived up. Japan soon became a symbol of advance, and a successful example that Asian nations can get developed by learning from the West while keeping it’s culture.
      Also, Japan was the first capitalistic state which supported Massacre at BJ so the relationship remains to late 90‘s. It’s not unimaginable for SRM to put a Japan Kanji character at their brand just becase it looks cool, Japan equlas Advanced equals Cool.

      @@CanadianCuttingEdgeyou are really overexaggerating here. Chinese do not hate Japan as much as you think because the underlying issue of that hate is linked to events from ww2 and if modern Japanese do not open those wounds or deny they ever happened nobody really cares, Japanese are fine with Chinese unless they have very xenophobic and superiority inferiority complexes with other Asian people still believing they are some superior being.

      Me too. I am noticing that they are doing more and more knives that are out of budget reach though. I wish they would stick to these low cost knives but I can see why they want to grab a bigger part of the pie for themselves.

    Where can I buy this in Canada?

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I said in the video, it's only available at AliExpress.com - and those stores that have this model don't ship directly to Canada. You would need a friend in another country to buy it and mail it to you.

    These knives are great! I've recently bought a second blue version after a gap of about a couple of years. The blue is quite a different shade second time around, much less of a greeny blue and more of a warm blue. It's also satin finish rather than the stone washed blade of my last one. The logo is also smaller which is a bonus! Still a great knife.

      yeah, and I carried it a bit in a leather sleeve without the clip too, but the video was too long so I didn't all that stuff.

    I would love to buy one, but I wonder how one sharpen this kinda curve blade shape using stones instead of rods.
    I don't want to buy a rod just for this, but I can't really understand how to sharpen this on a regular stone since it's kinda curve...
    Do you have experience on this?

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I assume you are a whetstone sharpener. A lot of guys have tutiorial videos on how to use whetstones to sharpen knives, and they always cover knives with a belly.
      Due to the arthritis in my hands I use a guided sharpening system and don't use whetstones anymore so I don't have any tutorials on how to sharpen with a whetstone. Most tutorials use kitchen knives in their videos - THIS knife is just like a kitchen knife but think about just the area near the tip of a kitchen knife, those have bellys, so if you know how to sharpen a kitchen knife you know how to sharpen this knife too - you just need confidence to do it.

  • @Drownedinblood

    This would probably only be illegal in japan. They have basically 0 tolerance on knives and even something like a Leatherman micra can be an offense. It's very at discretion of an officer imo.

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am glad I don't live in Japan, but I certainly would very much like to go there on holiday.
