    I got one last spring and it's worked really well in my full-size van when I camp. I put a 3-gallon bucket in the driver's side foot well and collect the water in that. I also wrap the exhaust ducts in either towels or reflectix to keep the heat from bleeding back into the cabin. I built a cover that attaches to the driver's door to shield the exhaust duct openings from rain and debris. Thanks for the vid :)

    You can use the battery port from the delta 2 max to the wave 2 to lower warts being used and have a longer run time on the Wave 2

    I have both the EcoFlow Wave 2 and another less powerful 24v DC clone of the Zero Breeze Mark 2. They both have their own usefulness. I like my Zero Breeze mark 2 clone because it will accept any 24 volt DC power and work. The Wave 2 requires the battery add on pack or one of their power stations to work off DC. It can probably be modified like the original wave 1 to accept and DC connection.
    You also want ecoflows special
    DC XT150 cable. You’ll get better results in efficiency.

What if you used dryer vents with the covering, put fly screen on the intake and spaced the vents apart. You could keep the rain and flies out. Windows shades would also help with keeping the sun out and keeping the cool in. Take care

    Hi Joe! It's me again, I should have mentioned that I am not a van lifer, but, I am a trucker who lives in the truck full time! Sometimes my diesel heater doesn't work and my night air can't keep up as well, looking for a backup system, this might be it!!

    • @3quartersbull4

    • @kyu2u2
      @kyu2u2 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Just something you should consider. This won’t work if the temp drops below 40F. (No heat) The other thing you should know is that this won’t cool your cab when the temp gets hot (above 90F). It may maintain temp but at an uncomfortable temp at max mode so with the battery pack, you won’t be able to run more than 2-3 hours. It does work if you keep the airflow directly on you so I won’t say that it is useless. Just understand that it is limited.
      Overall, it is an amazing device since it can run off of a battery. The problem is it is underpowered. Even running at max, it will NOT cool your truck. It will work as a personal cooler, that is, if you direct the air conditioned air directly on you,it will keep you comfortable.
      I am still because I’m a trucker too and I find that the electric APU does not keep me comfortable when it gets really hot. Which means during a 34, I can’t stay in my truck during the summer unless I run my truck. I would not use this as a heater, the operating range is too low. I was going to purchase one, but after researching this, I am holding off.

    • @dizzious
      @dizzious 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm surprised more truckers don't have 2-300ah of auxiliary batteries to run electronics/AC in the sleeper instead of idling all night. I guess it's mostly a weight thing? 200lbs of extra batteries being 200lbs less cargo you can haul... still I think I'd get the batteries if I were a trucker. Also those little diesel heaters are pretty hard to beat for heating, I'd totally get one if I stayed in cold regions more often.

    • @dogishappy0
      @dogishappy0 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used the Wave 2 throughout the winter to heat my bedroom 10 degrees F more than the rest of the house. I can confirm it will definitely do the job so long as the starting temp is within the range of the heat pump's range.
      I'd imagine you could easily charge the battery with either a diesel generator, via the car's 12v outlet, or even their new alternator accessory while on the road prior to going to bed.

    I recently purchased one with the battery and alternator charger for $1500US. My experience is more real world as i live in the southeastern US, where it's hot and humid from May through September. I tried this on a 92-degree, 70% humidity afternoon in my ram 1500 crew cab under a shaded tree. My test didn't go too well. I set up the vents for the rear passenger window and the unit in the rear as well. I used a Bluetti power supply since the battery didn't ship with the unit. I turned on and set to auto and let run for 1hr. In that time, the temperature inside of my truck didn't drop more than 1 degree even though i was getting a 20-degree temperature split between the intake air and the air. I was still sweating inside the truck. Average power consumption was around 500 watts, and ambient air temperature on the AC display was 84 degrees with the supply air temperature of around 64 degrees. I have many screenshots and may load them on a future review on Amazon. I think this after $1500 spent, this AC is more suitable for a small room more than anything else.

    • @jimjr9143
      @jimjr9143 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The supply air temp of 64 will not cool much anything . When the supply of heat is high . Think the unit must be set to max and not auto for the initial cool down . Or at the very least , run the vehicle ac for at least 10 minutes to do a fast cool then the EcoFlow to maintain . When i bought and first tested my ductless mini split I started with a 85deg,f room in my house . The supply air went down to 40-42deg,f . Cooled the room down really fast . Outside air was around 92f . I think the EcoFlow max coldest air comes from max setting which is only used to get the temp down quickly

  • @dizzious
    @dizzious 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The way to use these is to keep the unit in the "stow and go" seating well in the back of the van, and put the intake and exhaust vents on opposite sides of the vehicle. Most minivans have good places down low behind the wheel wells to put stealth vents - a lot of models actually already have one hidden vent in that area, which acts as air outlet when running the cabin vent fan. Definitely wire the unit right into your "house" battery too. Your build looks pretty nice, I'm surprised you don't have a couple hundred amp hours of li-ion or SLA batteries built in. For someone with a typical 200ah battery setup, this thing would probably have no issues running all night or all day.

Was looking at one of these probably would not work in my climate either. I am in the Southeast with high humidy and temps near 438C during the day, I usually use 2 fans now to sleep. Right now if in the van late morning I have to turn on the A/C around 10am or will overheat in there.

    If u can get an extra battery get it for your delta unit, the portable battery doesn’t last very long

    A year ago or so all TH-camrs were reviewing this product, look up how many still using it today. That will tell you everything you need to know. You are welcome!

      I see some you tube videos of using this in a vehicle which is in the sun with it being 90f + outside . Also making the mistake of not wrapping the very warm exhaust hose

    I think it would be more efficient cooling if the hoses were insulated preventing any heat in the hoses from radiating into your van

    Does it need an extra battery or Delta 2 or does it have one built in?
