    Other than a slight Blue tinge to everything, doesnt seem to be much of a reason to upgrade from standard 1080p to 4k.
    I bought the Episode IV: A New Hope 4k and It definitely looks pretty good.
    I'm probably just going to get Episodes III, IV, V and VI on 4k and call it done.
    Might get Rogue One, but I need to see the same sort of side by side as presented in this video before I do, as it is my favorite Disney SW movie.

    Yesterday I watched Episode I in 4K for a long time. Incredibly poorly aged CGI, aliens as if they were made of wax. Particularly noticeable with Jabba and Boss Nass. That they didn't improve it again. The film now seems to me like a mixture of animation and live action. Nobody can tell me: "Well, they want to preserve the film in its original form..." Creepy.

    In conclusion, if I just have the 2001 DVD and I want to upgrade to a better quality, is it worth buying the 1080p 2011 Fox, 1080p Disney 2019 or the 2020 4K edition?

    • @Mymoonization
      @Mymoonization  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you are equipped to view 4K content then take the 4K version and it will be accompanied by the 2019 version as Blu-Ray also.

      @@Mymoonization I have the 2001 DVD and 2011 Blu-ray, but don't have 4K UHD player at all. Mainly cuz I can't afford it and it's difficult to get one anyway at the moment cuz here in the UK, our non-essential stores are closed due to the corona pandemic.

    • @Mymoonization
      @Mymoonization  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am aware but however, if you want to have my opinion, you will not lose much because Disney makes fun of us because there is very little content and I can reassure you that the company has well plan to release it later once it has finished its first big profit. Why do you think Disney started taking out the Skywalker box before the Blu-rays ?!

    • @AndrewChapman
      @AndrewChapman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mymoonization Yeah, I see what you mean. Quite honestly, I find it difficult to keep up with home media on modern formats. Wondering if they'll even be another new home media format higher than 4K UHD in the future as most people use streaming services these days. And if you say they'll probably re-release Star Wars yet again later, then I'll probably just stick with my Blu-ray sets. I'll only buy a new set if they finally include the unaltered versions of the OT with the Special Editions (which they probably never will).

    According to this, especially the scene where only the two lighthtsabers are visible in the smoke and the next one, Liam Neeson's face in the dark, the difference is huge. And I do bear in mind that I saw this from an old Eizo 1920x1200, 16:10 monitor. So in a 4k tv, the difference sould be bigger. I don't see any complaint, that I hear from general, in this comparison.

    So basically, we have been suckered BIG TIME. The difference between the bluray and the 4k and BARELY perceptible. This is the low-life trash at Di$ney taking the SAME transfer, twiddling the knobs on brightness and contrast a hair, and VOILA! It’s a 4K release! Idk if everyone knows this but they gave this movie and the originals new 4K transfers and put those transfers on the blu ray. Compare these to the original 2011 blu ray and the difference is more noticeable. Only Ep. 2 & 3 are upscaled since they were shot digitally

    • @celluloidtherapy5003

      I think that my anger with this release, is that these films qualify - the original trio, anyway - as NATIONAL TREASURES, and should be afforded the most ROYAL treatment available. At this point in time, anything less than brand new HDR-10, Dolby Vision, etc., is simply an insult to the fan base that have been championing these films since inception. If these is any more obvious display by Disney, that they have ZERO respect for the franchise, then these releases demonstrate that perfectly. Obviously, I am PISSED at this...my sincerest hope, is that given the current DIRE financial situation that Disney finds itself in at the moment, is that they BANKRUPT, and sell off his franchise.

    Now that TH-cam allows 4k quality I can see the difference. Colors and brightness seems a bit off compared to Blu ray though... Gungans underwater city arrival seems less magical than BR... I wonder why. I read on Digitalbits review "What’s more, with an impressive application of state-of-the-art “film-look” processing, Reliance has managed to produce a 4K DI image that’s… well, not great, but certainly better than I was expecting on UHD". My moonization I just picked up my fourth or my Fifth generation SW 4K special Edition from Best Buy. Been collecting all SW special editions since early 90’s.
      I must say, I’m not happy at all with most of these 4K transfer. Episode 1 thru 3 mostly CGI’s which looked so unreal and lacked depth & HDR.
      Episode 4 & 6 are the best 4K transfers of the entire set. I was shocked to see how good they were. Definitely 4K quality. Hardly any grains, sharpness and great HDR with good depth. BEST!
      Episode 5 looks average, has noticeable grains even with all noise filters on & not good HDR & depth.
      Episode 7 was ok, average but definitely not in top 10 list of 4k list. It lacked HDR & Depth. Picture had noticeable grains. AVERAGE.
      Episode 8 had NO HDR at all and barely any depth as well. Probably the most Horrible 4K transfers of all StarWars 4k disk. Disney should redo this movie again. GARBAGE 4K! Very sad to see Disney ruining StarWars home movie disk qualities.
      Episode 9 not surprised at all by what you are now noticing about Disney. OMG had a hard time thinking this was a 4k transfer at all. Obvious noticeable Grains every where. I had to play around with my 4k settings from my normal 4K set up just for this movie to finally get an improved picture.
      Closing comment:
      Such a shame Disney ruining StarWars 4k disk quality. Seems Disney loves to have grains visible with barely any HDR effect added to these movies. Sad to see this happen to my all time favorite Franchise.
