I love that I can get completely lost in a Boyce Avenue cover, as I'm listening I feel as if I'm on a journey and by the end of the song when I finished my journey there is just this great feeling of satisfaction and I realize I have had a stupid grin on my face the entire time haha great job Boyce Avenue!!
I was 13 years old when this song was released and Pearl Jam was my favorite band. I lost myself to this song thousands of times through my headphones. I love Eddie Vedder and Pearl jam. I still think this is a great cover personally, if it sounded exactly like Eddie Vedder, than what's the point? I could just listen to the original. Great cover man. I enjoy this a lot.

Some people missing the whole point of a cover, it's a new interpretation and not meant to be a clone. This is a tribute to the song and a damn fine one at that. Vedder's voice is unique, but at times he doesn't scale the heights he reaches at other times...that's just called being human... :oP

I have always been a hardcore Eddie Vedder fangirl and always will be, but you've done this cover justice and then some. Don't be discouraged by the haters who frankly amounted to nothing in their lives and are just here to be idiots. They may call themselves "seattle sound/classic rock experts" but pay no heed. I dated one and my god biggest mistake of my life. What they preach about is usually BS, they have crappy taste not only in vocals but life decisions and often can't sing in tune to save their own lives. Don't worry about them and their comments. He is a nice singer but he does not do justice to this song. There needs to be more passion. The way Eddie sings in the MTV unplugged version says everything he feels about the song. But still a nice try. I think his voice would be best suited for coldplay songs.
Um every grunge band did the mtv unplugged acoustic albums in the 90s, including pearl jam.. Not only do you not know how to spell grunge but you don't know the history of grunge.
So yeah he can sing, I bet he could cover some pop songs... but this is just horrible! The emotion and feeling of the original is just stripped away... This is dull and flat, and the fact that he tries to diva some parts is just cringy... Marcos Nobrega cover here in youtube is way better!

This guy is a talented singer but he's not adding anything to the song he's taking away from it. I listen to covers of Masters of War, Baba O'riley, Arms Aloft, Rockin in the Free World and Under Preasure more then the originals, because they add a lot that makes the song better without taking away the meaning of the song or what makes it a good song. It's not a song I personally like but you should check out Ben Howards version of Call Me Maybe (he made it bareable) he added so much to that song. And if the singer doesn't make it there own it's not a bad thing, I have also listened to Arron Lewis's Cover of Nutshell (by Alice in Chains) it isn't very diffrent from the original but he manages to sing at a level on parr with AiC's lead singer and so it's a good cover. I will admit a lot of this is subjective, but even when I think about it objectively the cover is meerly 'ok' as he manages to hit all the notes and performs it well, there isn't anything that makes it go beyond that so it isn't a 'good cover' (I know ok and good are subjective but there's not a better way to descibe it) as it misses the core elements of the song without adding anything new

I don't think most of Boyce Avenue's covers are brilliant, but I wouldn't call them bad just because they lack some things that are just a matter of style. That's how I see it anyways. :)

So, this version is something I could listen as it is. The riffs (probably because it's just a guitar) point out more clearly the original country/bluegrass/blues roots of the song.
You hit it right on the head, it is a Taylor Baritone guitar. The standard is B-B for tuning. I've never owned one, but I have played one very similar to the one in the video and I can tell you they are amazing. Taylor makes a great product.
