I think it’s funny that we say, “Good boy” to this huge, magnificent creature. He needs a bushels of apples to satisfy his taste. Jabu absolutely understands he’s being helped. Maybe they’re more intelligent than us.
I have NEVER seen a more cooperative and sensitive animal! It could easily knock him into tomorrow if it wanted, but allows him to get into those hard to reach areas!! Amazing!!
Even when his stress glands on the side of his head start leaking, as a direct result of physical pain... he is still very gentle and seems to understand that they are helping, after enough times he probably has learned that he feels better after getting help. Very cool! Very smart! I am in awe. He even got his “lolipop”.
Wait until it's matting season...he will probably rip off anyone if he find it unpleasant... male elephant go crazy and are too dangerous in matting season

It's amazing to see an animal weighing easily well over six tons being so gentle, cooperative, and careful not to harm his humans in the slightest. He certainly trusts you and will do whatever he can to make it easier for you. He couldn't have better humans.

He is so calm because Elephants live a long life and during his life he remembers everything. They say "Elephants never forget". They really dont, very intelligent animal.
Actually its like humans taking care of cats or hedgehogs, humans can crush them with ease given their sizes but loves them affectionately and even tolerates and forgives a few bites and scratches now and then.

Elephants have always amazed me. Not just for their physical characteristics, but for their intelligence as well. Here you have a 6 ton creature that could easily crush the handler, but the elephant probably at least to some degree acknowledges it’s for his own good even though it might sting a bit. The fact he’s being very cooperative with the man working on him and that they don’t have to sedate the him shows just that.
You deserve so much for your love, care and dedication to these gentle amazingly calm creatures. This is unbelievable, each time you attend to Jabu's ailments, he is so good and patient, in full trust. Congratulations💕
When the dentist scrapes at the plaque is really the most awful feeling after drilling, so I can't imagine how tender teeth that big crusted with so much gunk would be. Even if he's flinching because it understandably hurts, he's got incredible self-control.

and unfortunately Doug died to that same reason.. he was killed by a wild elephant in August 2020.. i was so sad and shocked.
