I am very excited to review a wonderful new product with you today - Escoda Brushes come up with 4 new beautiful travel sets, each containing 3 different synthetic brushes from their famous collection. Each brush has been carefully crafted by hand by the Escoda masters, and in this video I am going to focus on the Blue Set, containing the following: Perla (pointed round, size 10), Ultimo (pointed round, size 16), and Prado (pointed round, size 6).
I will show you how each brush performs not just in a standard test, where I am going to look at precision and water retention, but also during a real painting process, so you can decide for yourself - whether you love to paint detailed botanicals, birds, or large landscapes - if these would be a good choice for you. Ive been hearing great things about escoda but since they can be a bit pricey for a beginner i would rather something travel friendly to get the most out of them, thanks for these great reviews and demos ill watch them all to hopefully decide on which set or sets to splurge on based on how i plan on using ♡
I just received the Escoda Versátil travel sizes 2 and 4 and they are amazing. I tried them on the Winsor and Newton, cold press, watercolor block with the special edition Schminke, 12 pan travel set and it was a wonderful experience. Thank you for sharing. I chose the Escoda Versatile thanks to you.

Thank you Marie! I do have arthritis as you can probably tell by my fingers but this glove is not related - it’s simply to protect the paper from smudges. You can find them on Amazon they are relatively cheap and last forever 😊❤️

Thank you! Good brushes are always so expensive, which is why I am slowly transitioning to synthetics... These sets are good value for money but even better value I suppose if you buy the brushes you want separately in the sizes and shapes you love.
Would the versatil be just as good in lifting as the Prado?
I ended up ordering the blue set because the versatil is easy to buy seperately where I live if I need to :)
Where is the Ultimo #16 Travel sold individually? And how much is it? I have the Black Velvet #16 and it would make the perfect mop alternative for travel.
Thanks for the great video. Today i got some brushes from Jackson's, one was an Artica n14 by Jackson's that is white toray and almost identical to Perla and i love it. I have some high end natural hair brushes and they are great but sometimes you need less water and more control and then is when this white toray brushes come into play. Brushes are functions, and holding tons of water is not a function you want activated 100% of the time when painting.

Which Escoda travel set would be best for beginner for watercolor landscapes?
Depends on whether you like flat brushes. If you are Ok with just round, then the Red set. It's my FAV

Have you tried the Casaneo series of brushes from Da Vinci?
I've tried casaneo brushes, they are definitely nowhere near as good as Escoda Versatil and Escoda Prado.
I tried Da Vinci, but Not Casaneo specifically. I didn't like Da Vinci's i tried so far but maybe will find one like in the future.
@@brittathrane4663 Interesting. How so? I have found them to be not as good. The Escoda Prado and Versatil are stiffer, and hold less water. The Prado's point is supposed to go dull quickly. Even the Ultimo holds less water, and is more floppy. Of course, brushes are personal preference, though.
@@AnnaBucciarelli Yeah, the other synthetics by Da Vinci are not so impressive. Casaneo is much nicer.
@@ThingOfSome We certainly do not agree, all the Escoda Versatil and Prado I have painted with, held a lot of water and a very nice tip. I have only bought one Da vinci Casaneo brush, and will not buy more, as it does not hold a fine tip and is very soft. The synthetics may need to be replaced faster than the real fur brushes .... in turn, they are much cheaper and are fantastic to paint with.

I wonder if you have problems closing the size16? The brush looks to have quite a belly!
Sorry about the late reply 💖💖💖 It does have a big belly and I always "shape it" to ensure i don't catch any hairs while closing. What helps a great deal is putting a conditioner on the brush before closing - it keeps all the hairs in place! 💖💖💖
