Sadly, I had to sell my Sub 37. I had to pay for my fathers funeral last month. It was and still is the greatest thing I have ever owned and I cried after they came to pick it up. Nothing sounds like it, it does Melodic Techno perfect. Anyone thinking of buying one should do it, no question.
I've been a happy owner of Subsequent 37 Cv for 2 years now and there are still new, undiscovered things in the device as it's seen in the video. Thanks for it
Youre such a WIZARD - and im a mere aprentice - who bow in your shadow - after becoming a patreon of yours , my synth capabilities has SKYROCKETED ! Thanx a bunch, Ziv , you literally are the best !
Thank you SO much for these tips. I'm getting mine in a few days and it's my first "real" synth in many years, so every hint, tip, and explanation helps. You really deliver the goods!
I did this 13:20 to lock LP and HP filter on a Korg MS20. The result was a bandpass filter and now we all now why it is called "band"pass. Great tips! I didn´t know that you could assign a destination in the mod matrix by holding the button and moving the knob.
@@loopop Oh, I am flattered! I moved it to my main table recently to dive deeper into this synthesizer. I think I can call it my favourite analog monosynth.
Also saw the MS20 rubberbandpass in a Look Mum video. (Great minds think alike etc :-) This was quite a brilliant way to use that trick! I also got inspired to explore my Sub 37 more, so thanks :-)
Thanks for the ideas. I'm quite an experienced user/programmer but its always fascinating to get a peek into someone else's programming style and ideas. It helps to stop me getting stuck in my own habitual work patterns.
I got a Subsequent 25 this week, while not as fully featured the sound is bloody marvelous and I'm inspired by this to run my Polyend Medusa through it for a wavetable synth through Moog filter 😮
Excellent video. Has me motivated to explore my Sub 37 and Pro-3 more! Keep up the great work. I’d like to see more of the “Burg” style videos, and deep dive videos.
Each synth has things it can do easily, and things it can do if you're clever. It seems like one of Loopop's favorite games is exploring that second category.
I'm amazed at how consistently you come up with amazing things that I'd never considered doing with my synths! Modulating the arpeggiator speed is my personal favourite, instant Rainbow in Curved Air vibes!
The rubber band hack! One for the ages. I bought the subsequent 37 especially for its gargantuan mod matrix. I think I’ll have years of fun exploring it, but I’ve covered basics like controlling LFO amount or speed from another LFO or envelope. The envelope controls on this synth are baffling but really usable for playability once you get to know them. Multi trig, delay etc.
Have to admit i've never thought about 'stacking' another synth through the Ext Audio in on my Subsequent 37... gonna have to give that one a go. Great point about editor/plugins for synths too, ij LOVE the Sub 37s one, it works so well. Being able to save patches on the fly just by dragging and dropping is a great feature. I have a few synths with controller plugins, but the Sub 37s is by far the best one i have by quite some margin. Thanks man!
HILARIOUS! This synth has been around for a while and I just happen to want one (New Hardware user/music maker) and I YT your name and Subsequent 37 and here it is... Within the last month. Thanks bruh.
I have the feeling one could own this synth for 20 years and still be saying "I didn't know it could do that!" Amazing piece of hardware that is both easy/intuitive to use and endlessly deep and complex.
I have underrated Korg R3 which has external in for an oscillator choice. Using your trick and inserting, for example, the original IK Uno definitely expands its palette. Although you can't modulate pitch using an LFO or ENV from the "mothership," you can create modulation on the external oscillator that matches and is governed by a common controller on the mothership.
Man, my head explodes for two days now :) what was the the 80's band for that lick you're playing with +2 pitch wheel at 4:16? I guess you also made that warm parch playing here?
Hi, I use MOscilloscope and MAnalyzer by a company called Melda - they’re free with some limitations in the MFreeFXBundle. Occasionally I’ll use scopes by VCV
This video was awesome! It gave me an idea: we could create some sort of "3rd Oscillator Expander" for the Sub37. It would be possible to go into the Mini territory with it no? Just saying! Great tips!
This was enlightening (thank you!) and I'll be trying these out this week. Don't suppose you've a DSI Pro 2 knocking around you could do the same thing for?
I'll add this to the 'watching people do cool things I hadn't thought of with synths I regret selling' playlist. the VST plugin is just mind blowingly powerful. what was I thinking?
Very interesting! I love my Sub37 but didn´t connect with the Matriarch yet. It sits behind me and wants to be touched but most of the time I prefer to use the Sub37
I get it, with the Moog sound, pumping from the Matriarch vs. what’s on the surface of the Sub37. I switched listening to this Outro, from my “flat” mixing headphones, to my “gaming” headset. THEN I got that great Old Moog sound. Next, I’ll listen in the open, with the sub-woofer vibrating my body! So many knobs and so few hands. This was a very revealing Sub37 follow-up and I can adapt much of it to gear I already own.
@@MartinStuertzer I have a Sub37, do you like using the mod matrix on it or hastle w/menu diving? Fantastic Loopop. Maybe we should all pause before buying that next synth and make sure we actually know how to use the ones we have (frequently guilty here). p.s. do Moog make rubber bands?

Hi! I am looking into buying a Sub/Subsequent 37. The thing that is holding be back is my cramped studio layout in the master bedroom. Today I have a Behringer Deepmind 6 in front of my computer keyboard and it is flanked by 2 racks. And on top of those, my monitors and PC-monitors. The problem arises due to the unorthodox placement of the connectors on the Moog 37. They are on the side.... Is there any mod or any company who makes a tight/slick multi connector that branches out to the rear?
As Virus TI 2 factory bank sound designer I must say "wow. You are the God of the synthesis and synths tricks"!!!
Go into the fetal position around the filter cutoff knob. Check.
I expected this exact comment at the top of my comment list and I was not disappointed.
If you wanted go into the foetal position I can only imagine what the rest of us mere mortals would do.
