@Genna Tuelz why is it though? what might seem bland or just downright "easy and cheesy" for someone, might be surprisingly deep or "magical" for someone else.
sometimes we say things just cuz they sound pretty or we sound smart saying it, but once in an exotically colored moon, they mean it.
but meh, i'm just another flamer in a random youtube comment :)

@Genna Tuelz that seems a bit too technical imo, you used those sentences ( in a quite good argument if i may say) but thats it, you didnt mean anything else by them other than to quipback, my point is that if a message is conveyed with enough belief from any party, and finds a receptor that resonates with it, then it's great.
taken out in the world, both your sentences can find people that will find a deeper meaning in them.
it's like that meme: an author describes the curtains as blue cuz they were blue, and a modern naturalist reader or whatever will dig too deep, "ah he had a depression, he has PTSD from that priest in his hometown and he conveys it via the blue color since it's sad ans matte"
i dunno if i said what i meant but yeah

@Genna Tuelz we're hitting levels of altruism that shouldn't even be possible
yeah empathy and sympathy and all kinds of pathies (especially crabby ones) are cool, but we ultimately only care about what spikes our adrenalin and serotonin secretions in one way or another
also i dunno if you're turning into a wisdom machine or the sarcasm is just overflowing naturally at this point

This is so moving! I personally know a Japanese man whose family and him were taken and put in one of these “camps”. He wrote a book about it. His name is Edward T. Miyakawa. Book name: Tule Lake. Sadly, he is in a long-term facility suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
First Japanese-American novel to portray the passionate, desperate struggle for justice and freedom from within the confines of America's concentration camps by those who refused to cooperate with the internment of 120,000 of their fellow Americans.

I attempted to fill in all the lyrics that seem to be missing from the websites:
Listened to it multiple times and all his live performances of it.
[Parts in brackets is what I heard in other perfomances]
This is kind of hard because in a couple of his performances he forgot his own lyrics and swapped words around.
    Best view on PC
    [Verse 1]
When, our faith was on the edge, of the wind
    The summer days on end
    Memories of the setting sunlight
Would tell a different way to be
    to be, to be
    [Chorus]
    Haruno hareno minato horobi
    [Verse 2]
The graves are those who ran, they're gone ["The pain of those around, they're crying"]
There are no more to blame, to blame ["Is anyone else to blame, to blame?"]
In every one of us, there is a heart that rises
Burning through all the suffering, it burns ["Burning through loss 'n pain, the pain"]
    And in the world beneath
    My fingers float the sound
That there will never be the end of us
    The end of us
    [Chorus]
    Haruno hareno minato horobi
    Haruno hareno minato horobi
    Haruno hareno minato horobi
    Haruno hareno minato horobi
    [Verse 3]
When in song we are blessed to be
Mending the rift of our apathy
    I have the answer
    You will remain
Days on end after the end of the cancer
One day you will follow at the sound of laughter
One day we'll fall in love

    • @florianweiss2948
      @florianweiss2948 5 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      @@mendelzmendel9491 Fairly easy:
      Haru (spring) no (Part.-Gen)
      Hare (beautiful/clear weather) no (Part.-Gen)
      Minato (haven or dock)
      Horobi (perishes/decayes)
      So to make it short:
"When springs clear weather decays at the haven"
To be fair, that´s a pretty rough translation. If you´d make it grammatically correct it´d be "springs clear weathers haven decays", but as this piece takes a lot of inspiration from japanese customs, it´s fairly obvious what they were intending the content of those 4 words to be.

“I was shocked when I saw white supremacy really starting to show its teeth again in America,“ Kishi Bashi says. “My parents are immigrants, they came to the United States from Japan post-World War II. As a minority I felt very insecure for the first time in my adult life in this country. I think that was the real trigger for this project.”
Kishi Bashi recognized parallels between the current U.S. administration’s constant talk of walls and bans, and the xenophobic anxieties that led to the forced internment of Japanese-Americans in the months following the attack on Pearl Harbor. So he immersed himself in that period, visiting former prison sites and listening to the stories of survivors, while developing musical concepts along the way.
“I didn’t want this project to be about history, but rather the importance of history, and the lessons we can learn,” Kishi Bashi reflects. “I gravitated toward themes of empathy, compassion, and understanding as a way to overcome fear and intolerance. But I had trouble finding an English title for the piece. Omoiyari is a Japanese word. It doesn't necessarily translate as empathy, but it refers to the idea of creating compassion towards other people by thinking about them. I think the idea of omoiyari is the single biggest thing that can help us overcome aggression and conflict.”
Selected from the album description on Kishi Bashi's bandcamp. More available on the Joyful Noise Recordings website album description as well.

I could've gone without knowing that the artists is a fearmongering open-border extremist. One thing you'll ALWAYS notice about his types WITHOUT FAIL is that he will conflate immigration and race as the same thing(and therefore if you are against ANY kind of immigration then you are a racist), instead of looking at the ACTUAL DATA and realizing that immigration is no longer profitable for the United States (twitter com/17cShyteposter/status/1161511644830343170). Wanting MUTUALLY-BENEFICIAL immigration instead of parasitical-immigration is something that literally all non-shithole countries want.
At this point, this isnt even about immigration. Its about whether or not a country's OWN CITIZENS should be able to control THEIR OWN COUNTRY. And funnily enough, his own country (Japan) is one of the strictest countries in the world when it comes to immigration because they want to preserve their culture. According to his OWN logic, his country would be one of the most racist countries of all time.
I, on the other hand, believe that the Japanese have every right to do so because i believe-in CONSENT: you must receive the consent of the country's people before meddling with their country and culture.
(of course, this is assuming they arent, for example, throwing gay people off buildings or something)

@@incrediblygay "his own country (Japan)" ? Are you serious ? The guy is American and was born in Seattle ? You're just destroying your own point with this sentence.
So what does it take to be a real American ? A European face ? Having some ancestors involved in slavery ? Or maybe some others who stole lands from Indians ? Is it enough to "OWN" this country, whose creation was based on a robbery and whose wealth comes from slavery ?
I hope most Americans don't pretend they OWN their country and just consider it as the land they live in and share with others. And they have the right to love their country without owning it (you know, like some of us do with humans).

Fluffywhitemanju, what point? That the existence of boarders and their enforcement is somehow racist?
Immigration is not in it self a bad thing, but without regulation it damages social cohesion, lowering trust, and it is in opposition to the welfare system that globalist often want (unless they are libertarian).
On top of that it's _not_ a long term solution when it comes to poverty.
      No, it simply isn't.
It's just moving a tiny bit of the problem into another location and calling it progress. Here is a visualization of how insignificant that is:

My family drove past Manzanar last week on our way to hike Mt. Whitney. It was because of this exact video that the real thing was immediately so shockingly recognizable to me! Especially prominent is the still standing guard tower and marked on maps, the graveyard. I couldn’t help but shed a tear for the people who had been brought there involuntarily some 80 years before 😥
