Epica is a Dutch symphonic metal band, founded by guitarist and vocalist Mark Jansen after his departure from After Forever. Formed as a symphonic metal band with gothic tendencies, later Epica have incorporated into their sound strong death metal influences.
Apocalyptica is a Finnish symphonic metal band from Helsinki, formed in 1993. The band is composed of classically trained cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Perttu Kivilaakso, and jazz drummer Mikko Sirén.

That is how i love Epica. Not a fan of all the growling stuff, i want to hear Simone, and i will never understand why some people always suggest "Consign to Oblivion" to new reactors as first song instead of something more like this.
Oh sorry, i just saw its not Epica here, but nontheless, then take ""Rivers" instead.
growling adds to their music heaviness and special atmosphere. I love their contrast of gentle voice and hellish growl 😁

@@wildhoney126 Its ok in small doeses for me where it makes some sense, like in "Abyss of Time" but "Consign to Oblivion" for me is just a confusing mess with all these "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" screams that are just there to show "look we can scream ahhhhhhh". And i guess for most first reactors its just that they have no clue what they really should think about it. I mean, it has some nice moments, but the whole piece is really not a good composition.
And if it should be something more epic with growls, "Kingdom of Heavens Pt.3" is also soooo much better, at least in my opinion. Or "Chasing the Dragon" .. or .. so many other pieces. I guess meanwhile i changed from just disliking CTO to really hate it 😜
I mean .. maybe ... its fun if you are there life on the concert and as an event type for pushing the crow or whatever, just like a long "HEY HEYH HEY HEY HEY! .. but for listening at home, not really a fan.
@@beldin2987 «Consign to oblivion» I can't listen to the album version either, because the quality of the recording is no longer for my ears and Mark growled terribly there actually 😁 but the live version is first of all an epic spectacle and you can see how the crowd goes crazy under it . This again works well in contrast to Rivers again and a full frozen calm ass with lights.
