Thank you for the video. Stupid the automobile manufacturers think auto stop is needed. Blessings to you.
Simple easy and you are very straight foward to the point. thank you
Thanks for watching!
Hay like video what's the name of part and where can I find it😊
I just followed your video and it works perfectly....thanks!
Great to hear!
Thank you I bough one for $12 love it.
Did I miss something here, what do I call this nifty gadget? 🤣 UPDATE... I ordered from them and I was waiting and waiting for it to arrive. All along it was sitting at my post office waiting for me to pick it up. (so be aware of what app or tracking site you use to track the package) I installed this "nifty little gadget" that was slightly different as the video explained - mine connects to the negative battery terminal, (the instructions were great and they even sent me a nice 10mm wrench - thank you) This gizzmo is the best thing since sliced bread. Works awesome !
I bought it from www.smartstopstart.com/
Awesome - On order now, hopefully it won't get ripped off from delivery - I'm in an apartment and stuff goes missing all the time. I need to get out of this town !
Thanks for video. It is so funny when engineers invent and integrate in cars something to save money with fuel economy, but as a result we have to spend our money and buy some extra means to cancel this features ))
Well, wait 'till you have to buy a new starter in maybe a couple years along with paying the wrecker bill to take it from the market some night around midnight because the starter is worn out from all the starting.
Just ordered one. The Gen2 is out with improvements with remote start.
Thank you for the video!!!I did the same on my car
Good to hear it!
Start / stop is a terrible idea, beats up the starter motor, battery and flywheel gear. And the obvious, it’s annoying
Installed...works great!
Great to hear!
Where did ya get the part from
I would like to know what is the name of the plocks for the auto stop I have 2018 Acadia I'm going crazy thanks
Looks like it works on your Acadia as well, and I got it from this site www.smartstopstart.com/
Not many people like the auto stop feature, yet we are forced to have it if you needed a new car. Ridiculous.
So the remote start will still work 2017 Cadillac XT5? No other draw backs?
The remote start gets a little finicky, but it still works.
*Remote Start will only work after car has been off at least 20 minutes.
*Remote Start will only work if the Lock and Remote Start buttons on the key fob are sequenced rapidly.
*After a remote start, when you get in the car, you must cycle Ignition off and on again manually in order to activate the Auto-Stop Override.
Otherwise love this device!
@@Your-Self thank you
I bought a used 2019 Dante Fe which had this feature already disabled somehow. I changed the battery and now it’s active again. I want to know how the previous owner deactivated it. There is no devices attached to car so I’m thinking it can be bypassed by hitting buttons in sequence.
When your battery amps get low the start stop feature is disabled until a new battery is installed.
What does this tell the engine? That the hood is still open? Or does it have to do with ambient outside temp?
As I understand it, the jig is a delay timer. And it's telling the computer that the "hood was opened" during the ignition. And then it was closed. So the "Hood Open" warning light doesn't come on.
My SUV has an OFF button for the Auto Off feature, which I hate! I have to remember to press the button every time I start the vehicle. Some vehicles have a menu entry located in the vehicle setup where the user can disable it. My SUV does not have this option. There are more add on devices coming on to the market to defeat this feature in many of the models of vehicles. Most of these are sold on line only. They are technically illegal to install.
The dealer service people told me if any gadget is installed or any modification is done to disable this feature, they will get an error code when they run the diagnostics during the routine servicing. Best to remove whatever mod you do before bringing the vehicle in for service. The dealer service rep told me it is illegal to tamper with this feature. It is considered part of the emission control system. They are getting many complaints about this feature.
Most gasoline vehicles are starting to have the Auto Off feature if the engine is larger than 1.8 Litres in size. Many people find this feature horribly annoying! This feature adds for a lot more wear on the starter motor and the starter's Bendix gear. Expensive to replace the starter and Bendix gear. The dealer service told me even though the starters and Bendix gear are built stronger for this feature they are still changing more of these assemblies. After the vehicle warranty is finished this will be expensive for the vehicle owner. Frequent stops and starts of the engine also reduces engine life compared to letting the engine run continuously.
Another drawback with the Auto Off is when the engine is stopped the engine's oil pressure instantly drops to zero. Then when the driver releases the breaks, or touches the gas pedal the engine immediately starts while the transmission is engaged and is under instant load to move the vehicle. For a few seconds the engine is under load with zero oil pressure. This over time will add to greater rate of crank shaft and cam shaft bearing wear. Even though there is still a coating of oil on these parts, having zero oil pressure for even a second under load is not good. This will lead to greater rate of engine wear! Very costly to rebuild or buy a new engine!
Normally, when you start your vehicle it is in Park or Neutral. The engine is being started with very little load on its output. The only load it has is the flywheel and the torque converter. This type of load is very small for the engine. By the time you put the transmission in to drive or gear, there is a safe level of oil pressure.
So far the Co that make the device does not make one for a 2020 Terrain. I did read that GMC's 2022 Terrain will have a button on it to over ride the S/S from working. I am thinking the same may7 be true for the 2022 Nox. Perhaps GM/GMC will offer some sort of factory design kit for the 2020 & 2021's GM/GMC's for a override button.
So then just put your shifter into L and press the + sign up to the number 9. And it will disable it and the car will drive like it normally does in D. You have too do this every time you start the vehicle. However, that's the best work around at least for now.
Auto stop is bad for engine crank and battery
I would love this for BMWs. Being a California resident sometimes sucks.
shit that makes sense is illegal, while its completely legal to steal under certain amount ect ect. California is a third world state imo and if you helped vote it into this mess than stay there. If you aren't a moron gtfo there already man.
На любом BMW это отключается посредством кодирования за 5 минут.
Heat cycles are my worry for the little thing. Might take it apart to let people build their own
Perhaps this is a stupid question. But the Cadillac xt5 also has a feature where if you are cruising around town, it will shut off 2 cylinders to save gas. If you get this module to disable auto stop and start, does it disable the other gas saving feature as well? Are they even related?
My 2018 model doesn't have this feature, so I'm not sure. But my guess is that they are unrelated. I'd love to hear an expert opinion though.
@@Your-Self it doesn't have the cylinder shut down? Maybe it's only on higher trims. Other than that, how do you like the xt5? I want an awd premium luxury.
Overall I like the car, after the struts and the coolant thermostat were replaced under warranty. But now I'm a bit worried about the quality of other components past the warranty.
Well, I switched the screen to gas mileage, and apparently, I have the 2 cylinder shutoff. And it works well with this Auto-Stop disabler installed!
@@Your-Self thanks for the update!!!
Can you please post the link on were you got this from please
I got it from this site www.smartstopstart.com/
Is that device California legal? I was considering buying a 2018 gmc acadia.
Sorry, according to their website, it's still not allowed to be used in California.
How does this function, and does it cause any long term issues?
I think it works by sending a signal from the hood as if it's opened during the start-up by using a delay function. So the main computer "thinks" that the hood was open, and now it's not. So no warning lights come on, but the Stop-Start feature is disabled! Try physically open your hood before you start the car, then close it and drive... it should work the same way. According to the website I got it from, it doesn't cause any long-term issues. And I personally don't see how it would cause any problems.
@@Your-Self part number please
@Ezequiel Gonzalez I don't have a part number, just a site I got it from www.smartstopstart.com/
@@Your-Self thank you very much for your information i will order 1 delay relay on aliexpress and 1 connector to make this 140 dollar thing
Have you had any issues with it since installing?
It's been almost 2 years, and I even forgot about installing it... LOL. Works great!
Is there a setup for 2018 GMC Terrain SLE
According to their website they do. And it's a second-generation setup that is even better than mine in the video.
Works great but my check engine light is on now?
how iget this device ir sensr
what is the part number of the unit you got I have an 2018 XT5
Just go to their website smartstopstart com, and choose your make and model. Currently, it's $140
Hello, regarding the operation of the start-stop function, I recommend Topdon's product Phoenix Elite, because I have been using this device to perform related operations, and I think the experience is good.
This is a video I took with this device to turn off the start-stop function for a Mercedes-Benz: th-cam.com/video/UP5jdeLVJdA/w-d-xo.html , you can take a look at it for reference, it may be helpful to you.
There are more videos on my homepage of Phoenix series equipment for different cars, please give me your opinion; you are also welcome to ask me some related questions, I will be happy to answer! You are more welcome to follow me! thanks.
You'd think with the high prices of vehicles, especially a Cadillac XT5, they'd have a turn-off button!
Totally agree!
Why not just leave the connection disconnected without spending 140.00 bucks for a bypass relay?
It would be nice if it was so easy. However, the "open hood" warning light will come on, and the interior alarm will sound when you drive. The remote-start will not work either.
Do you have a link to where I can buy this thing?
I bought it from www.smartstopstart.com/
Silly question, but what's the big issue causing you to disable it? I have this feature on my Buick and within a couple of weeks of driving it off the lot, I barely even notice it.
Maybe it's a personal issue, but I find the jolt from the restarting engine very annoying.
The A/C stops cooling during the Auto-Stop, and just blowing regular air. Here in hot Florida, that creates a big temperature swing in heavy traffic.
When crossing an intersection in front of other cars, my car sometimes hesitates to go from a half stop.
I'm sure that the starter, the battery, and something else will fail shortly because of this feature.
A small amount of saved gas is not worth me dealing with this inconvenient "innovation."
But now I'm very happy since I went back to normal driving.
It’s starting to have problems at around 60k miles...I almost rolled back into the car behind me
@@iloveTRUMP exactly what happened, I don't see how the bypass would cause your car to roll back if it is in drive?
@@mrstyxxx I came off the expressway going up an exit...stopped car auto stopped...I let off the brake and it didn’t restart as expected and it began rolling back because I didn’t have my foot on the brake and I didn’t realize it right away so I almost hit the car behind me
The exit was uphill
will this work for a 2021 traverse?
According to their site, it works on 2018 and 2019 Traverse. Try calling them 571-215-6085 to see if it works on yours.
@@Your-Self Thank You !
On the gm 9 speed, put it into manual mode then change gears to the highest gear which is 9, problem solved. No auto stop. I own a 2018 Buick Enclave and it works on this model.
everytime or one time ?
@@ValorHeart You have to do it each time you restart or put your vehicle into park. Nonsensical I know but at least there is an option without spending over $100 for the computer chip.
Where can I find this stop start connector
I bought it from www.smartstopstart.com/
I just unhooked the hood warning light. $100 is too much for me. There are 2 other ways as well. 1: putting the vehicle in low gear and manually push the plus button up to 6th gear, or 2: just be light on the brake when stopping.
what you are suggesting does not work.. I tried exactly what you said and it did not work I installed the module and problem solved
any links to the device ?
@fxinvestorinc where could I get this connecter
Can this also work on a Cadillac XT4?
According to their website, yes!
@@Your-Self perfect I had a coworker who bought an XT4 and she hates that feature.

For free, 2018 xt5 will not auto stop in manual mode. I’ve been doing this successfully for months

When you consider the fact that the vehicle is worth ZERO, with the stop / start technology in place, you can understand why people explore various methods of eliminating it. You can have the evil stop start technology permanently disabled. But you MUST do it as a condition of sale at the time you buy. The dealer can easily program this feature off. They do this for most government vehicles and police departments. If your dealer won't do it, go to another dealer. Engine Stop Start technology was developed for the SOLE purpose of improving the EPA, MPG number during their NON-REALISTIC test. In the real world it does virtually nothing to save fuel, but it DOES wear out your engine faster. Nothing is harder on a car engine than when you start it. There are several aftermarket kits that can defeat Engine Stop Start technology. Forced Lighting (Daytime Running Lights that cannot be controlled by the driver) is another common thing that people get rid of. Unless, you have a Toyota, which has "DRL off" right on the light switch.
It might have been more informative if you had told us where ya bought the device, better yet a link. Just saying
