  • Never claimed to be an expert with bodywork but with advances in tech, getting a glossy finish to paint is now easier than ever. The paint came out sooo well and blended in to the existing colour. This bike is ready for the next owner and will be the envy of others for years. #motorcycle #motorcyclemaintenance #kawasaki #zzr1100

The fact that it’s green and it has 320 km/h speedo suggests it’s not originally a uk bike. Fairly certain D5s in the uk didn’t come in green. Bloody good job on the refurb mate. Got me binge watching all the ZZR videos now just for old times sake🤣🤣🤣😎

Nice one. I've been thinking of buying an older bike and doing something similar (not the TH-cam bit, that's your bag!).
Something like a ZZR1100, VFR, ZX9 or whatever came along. I ride a fair few miles, often 2 up and like...making progress ...
Cheers for the vid, loved it.

Great to see another ZZR 1100 saved and put back on the road. Most people have no idea how good they are. The only shame is that you did not keep it although I expect keeping you license is more important 🙂

The more I worked on it the more there was to like. Was a very nice engine and hopefully the new owner will appreciate what he has.

Is the d model better than the C model how
P.s. I like the coil placement
And the airbox filter removal looks like a better design also
      But
If the tank leaks above the coils ???
Has that been an issue with any of them??? ?????
Anyone had their d burn to a puddle beside the road????? F.Y.I. the coils on a c1 are parallel to the cylinders above and behind the head stock steering set up
And my tank has been repaired above these from damage or leakage ??????

@@jamesrobertson3853 The D has better wind protection than the C and I prefer the looks but that is a personal choice of course. There were many upgrades on the D and very little is transferable between the bikes. The D solved the 2nd gear problem of the C model however the D had the infamous number 3 conrod issue. I have never had or heard of an issue with the coils causing a fire on either bike. What can be an issue is a leak from the Fuel pump on the D causing a fire. I have seen several of these. The design of the fuel pipe to the pump is not the best.

Hi, in the vid I hear you explain the colour was hard to match. For future reference a company called RS Paints carry OEM paints for most bikes I know they do ZZR1100 paint as I have searched in the past. Secondly you can take a panel to a good paint shop who can scan the panel and match the paint exactly. I have done this with a number of my bikes they can make up a rattle can or tins for a spray gun. Good job though I have a 96 ZZR1100 currently undergoing restoration.

Hi, thanks for the info. I do have a local paint shop who I now get to scan panels, makes paint matching so much easier 👍

Nice job on your project, I’m an owner of a 1993 ZX1100 which I bright brand new when the D1 model came out now that the bike has aged a bit I still enjoy looking at it more as the years pass by. As you know a long journey it’s going to take some bumps and bruises which I need to do the same process of what you just completed can you possibly send me whom you use to re-order some of your parts plastics in particular! Ps shoulda kept it for them zooom moments

That's amazing owning the bike for that long, proves how good they are. Everything came from eBay, the paint from a local dealer. You probably already know but there is a great group on Facebook about these bikes. Sorry I can't help more. Stay Safe 👍

This was my first one and the longer it gets the more I am kicking myself for selling it. Unfortunately not having had both I'm unable to compare 👍

FIBERGLASS patches on ABS plastics crack and fail. It is best to use an ABS slag mixture to fill in holes and reinforce the plastic with embedded screen or mesh of your choosing.
ABS is designed to expand, contract and flex. Fiberglass cannot do that. At best this is a temporary fix that should have been researched better. ALL Fiberglass patches crack cause they cannot flex and have minimal expansion/contraction qualities.
Though it came out nicely at the end, I would like to see it after 2 years and show you how its failing, even IF you cannot see it.

@@vroomroom1 Respect. Glad you did not take it harshly. The is an ABS patch kit available but it's pricy and if you have old ABS that you can drill or file to get small shavings and mix it with ABS Cement, that produces the slag you need and you can mix in a touch of Acetone to help dissolve the flakes into a smooth application with a brush or sponge. And it sand perfectly too. Peace.
