Moke looks great. Here in Australia we had a fancy Morris version called Californian with a list of special features including denim theme and it was available with the 1275 cc engine. I guess that would be the version Jay Leno would have 😀
These are super easy to parallel park. When I was in school ,a friend borrowed his mother's moke to take us into town. He drove forward into a parking space and 3 of us got out and lifted the rear of the vehicle off the ground and walked it to the kerb
I love the way you keep our quirky British cars on the road. Looks like you've done a fanstatsic job restoring the Moke from the condition you found it in.
I do not remember if you have shown us some 'before' photo's in the past but this Moke was looking very sad. You have done a great job so far Steve. Thanks for sharing the restoration progress.👍👍
I drove around donington park in a mini moke On the 25th anniversary celebration of the mini I’ve owned five so far and my dads mini clubman estate was pretty cool too 👍
There aren't enough proper Mokes about so well done on a fine job Sir. just a little pointer: The spikes across the panel by the radiator secure a rubber shroud which was fitted to all Mokes, Mk I, Mk II and some Mk III Minis. Part number is 14A7286 and helps keep the air flow through the radiator.
The tyres look good but you will find they emit a lot of road noise, great restoration, sold my moke Californian twenty years ago good fun if the suns shinning!
I have a 998 cc Cooper engine (twin SU carbs, high compression pistons) in my Moke, and I think it is the perfect combo. Easy freeway speeds in that unaerodynamic body!
They all look the same quality, NAPA sells them, I buy them on Amazon a lot, Harbor Freight probably has the same one. Moss Motors even has them if you want to get it from them. amzn.to/45ALZP6
Hi - i have been watching and enjoying you videos on and off for a couple of years. I am thinking that you have been asked this before - how did you get into English vehicles/bikes etc and have you spent much time in the UK,,,,,,,, if that is too personal a question i completely understand, thanks
The VW 181 was really just an update of the wartime VW Kubelwagen, 2000 being supplied to the Bundeswehr in 1969. The Moke started life in 1964 as a projected parachute-droppable lightweight military vehicle, but the lack of ground-clearance damned it, although a Twini Moke with a 1300 engine at either end was supplied to the US Army for evaluation.
“A little work” must be the understatement of the year. Beautiful workmanship.
Austin America owner here. Loving how the Moke has turned out. Man, was it in rough shape when you found it!!! Excellent work!!

Love it when you work on the British Classics!
I learned to drive in a Moke! Love those cars!
There are quite a few Mokes still on the road here in Mauritius. Good to see yours getting finished.
Mini moke. Buddy had one. Really cool. I used to race him in my sixty nine subaru three sixty minivan

One person can easily slide the rear end over by themselves.

Those wheels and tires make all the difference.
🇦🇺👍nice to see wrenching / restoration again
Those self-colour wheels change the whole appearance of the car!
Brilliant work. I wish I could have done it. Better still, I wish I'd never sold my original Moke.
Love those!😊

I love it!!!!!
Moke FTW
Do you think it's a Moke that was used on Catalina Island?
What’s the make and model of your wheel gun? I need one of those!
Steve, in a recent episode you used a neg battery terminal cut off switch, green knob. Where did you get that? Not sure I want to buy it at HF. Thanks

I am going to guess they would've been silver originally, not a moke expert though. I only have minis.
Old English White on MK1 Minis and Silver on MKII Minis

I wonder if this car was inspiration for VW Thing?

@@davidjones332 Thanks for the info!
…can you smoke in the moke?
