      Thank you Michael for watching. Out of all the tools in our shop the Edwards Ironworker is my absolute favourite. Quality build and made in the USA. It’s used each and every day with zero problems.
      It just don’t get any better than that. 👍

    I had a Piranha Ironworker at work, it never ceased to amaze me just how much strength that notcher had, used to go through steel like a hot knife through butter. Great review!

    Hey Paul, I'm actually originally from Albert Lea, Minnesota and I gotta say I'm very proud to hear you talk about the Edwards Iron Worker! I was really astonished to see you even have it in the shop! I was like, "Hey that's made by a company in the town I live in!" It really is an amazing machine! I'm actually trying to hopefully get a job there, It's been fully employed so far. I'd love to pass this video along to the company, and share ideas. But yeah! I enjoy your videos (got interested from your snow clearing and "blow snower" mods!) I hope one day to visit you in Newfoundland, Canada! Enjoy!

      Hi Jonathan. So nice to hear from someone from Albert Lea. Even more surprised that you watch our channel. I'm not one that gets impressed easily and if you've watched a few of our videos you'll see we have a farely well equipped shop but this Edwards is the best thing we've ever purchased. It's used every day, never an issue and built so well.
      I sure hope you land a job with them because I can feel your pride all the way here in Newfoundland and I'm sure you would be a wonderful asset to their operation. The best of luck to you in the future. Thanks for watching and commenting. Kathy and I really appreciate it.

    Good Morning Paul and Cathy,
    What a great video that was well worth the wait. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to do a review of the Edwards ironworker. I have to say that I was completely unaware that you did so many mods to the machine as everything looks so professional and well made. I really like the idea how you added the extension table. Great very useful ideas and really well done. Now all I have to do is save up the money and get one of my own.
    Thanks again Paul and Cathy!! Have a wonderful day and keep your sticks on the ice eh!

    We had an Iron Worker of a different brand, but identical in functions in a shop I used to manage. This is a moneymaker. One product we did for someone relates to one of your videos. We did pretty good volume making plow edges for snowplows. We could cut to length and punch holes for the mounting screws on tough grade steel.

    Just went to Edwards youtube channel, saw the add on hoses that run several other pieces of equipment that might make sense in your shop, Paul! Cost of these add on tools are about half since the power unit is in the iron worker.

    • @7863348
      @7863348  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not fond of that system. with individual systems there's no setting up. With the Edwards wet up your always setting up hoses and the like.

      That belongs to a friend of mine... I started with the frame, welded all off the topcoat together and added a Mustang II front end and 4 link rear with coil overs. I shaved the door handles, hid the hinges, changed the hood to a front lift, added a roll pan to the back below the trunk lid. I flared the wheel wells and added the front air dam. We added power everything. The headlights and interior were done in Canada, eh. Once in primer, his brother-in-law did the paint. I stopped doing fabrication and bodywork when I started at the phone company 32 years ago, well, except for my buddy's projects. This is part of the reason I enjoy your videos so much... you're getting me charged up again... you're a fine craftsman and do superior work...

    Paul I can't believe you haven't put a lip on the waste shoot to catch the scrap, this will save you back from bending to pick up the scrap. Don't worry about the noise of it hitting the floor it will still ting as it drops down the shoot.

    • @7863348
      @7863348  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have made a mod to it. We put rubber on the floor yesterday to stop the noise. Can't put a lip on the chute because it would back up to fast on multiple cuts and jam the blades.

    That machine is real nice with what it can do accurately if it's set up for repetitive jobs. I totally get what you say from experience of not having one . Now I'm going to go out on a limb and say after watching you do mods to most things. There may not be any machine you 2 own, that's not modified for convenience during use or better performance. Can we please have a kitchen tour of the mods to Kathy's food processor L.O.L . Robert

    • @7863348

      If it’s not on our site we don’t make them. You bought the wrong colour orange. 😉

    • @stevenmichaud8733
      @stevenmichaud8733 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah , but you must of never really checked out the kioti's. there twice as tough than a Kubota, and look way better !! besides, the owners of kobota and kioti, were partners when they first started making tractors, than they split apart, thus the great creation of ( KIOTI ) The best tractor there is !! sorry paaul, lol

    • @7863348
      @7863348  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can assure you I know the history of the Kioti that’s why we have all Kubota’s. Buy a Kubota here and when you want to sell it you can sell it on a phone call. Buy a Kioti and try and sell it and no one will look at it.
      Every rental store here rents Kubota’s only, why? Because they will tell you they are the only tractor that will last. I can give you dozens of other reasons why I prefer Kubota but I would only hurt your feelings.
      Sorry. Good luck.

    I bought mine (Jaws IV 50 ton) around 1995? from a dealer in Buffalo, NY.
    It has been a good machine, much less sophisticated than Paul's. Hydraulics are strictly mechanical foot pedal, no electric solenoid control. I do think it is somewhat over rated on capacity, it really strains to punch or sheer at the thickness and diameter stated on the labels on the machine. But overall, never any problems or down time.
    First mod I did, is add a light, and larger Shear Table, plus mechanical parts counter.
    I wish mine had the stroke control. I think the pump on mine runs faster, or is a lesser quality unit because it is exceedingly loud whine compared to Pauls. Annoying......like a suck car horn.....Ha....

    That is a nice rig and cool mods,but I don't have the spare USD's right now, so I'll have to keep using the Armstrong method and my trusty smokewrench. Maybe my new POTUS will offer these as an income tax refund.

    Hi Paul. I'm currently in Orlando Florida at the 2017 Grainger Show and one of the booths is an Edwards Iron Worker. They had a 55 ton model and I got to talking to the sales rep and I said there's a guy on TH-cam that I've been following for years, he has a 60 ton model. The guy says "is his name Paul Short?" "I said yep, that's him. I've been following his work for that last ten years. Before TH-cam we were both on Welding Web and he used to post pics of his projects. He's the most talented fabricator I've ever seen." He said yep he most certainly is! All I can say buddy is you are definitely getting noticed all around. Hope you and and the better half are doing well. Your friend Tim from Florida.

    • @7863348
      @7863348  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's great Tim. It's nice to know when someone so far away knows your name. With so many on social media including TH-cam it's a wonder anyone knows who I am so it's very humbling. Thanks to you for following all this time. Welding Web was my favourite site. A lot of good thinkers there. I seen more talent on that site than any other.
      Life got complicated for me when I started this TH-cam channel and took me away from the forums but I miss them at times. I remember being featured in the Welding Webs Design and Fabrication magazine. Had two editors fighting over two differant stories but the senior editor pulled rank and won but I wanted to give the story to the jonior editor. Oh well I tried lol.
      I've always tried to give the Edwards product a good honest review. It truly is one of the best products that I've ever had that came out of the USA. They deserve more recognition. Nice they even know who I am. Thanks for this.

      They called for 2-4 cm overnight and all we got was a dusting. No need to plow. Haven't had any snow since the last video we shot. The temperature has been yoyoing up and down from day to day. Spring has been here for about a month now. I know it sounds crazy, but the geese have been returning here since February. I have to do another video but every time I have a day off it rains, or is in the -10 range. I like to pamper myself. LOL

    Kathy: One of our customers that bought an Edwards 60 ton Ironworker saw your beautiful scrap bucket in the video and thought the factory made it. Now he is sad that he has to make his own scrap bucket. Would you talk Paul into making a video to show how to make one of those beautiful Paul&Kathy scrap buckets? Also keep in mind that the frame thickness is slightly thinner on the very popular 55 ton size Ironworker.

    • @7863348
      @7863348  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Now you got me in trouble with Kathy 😂 Looks like I’ll have to do a video on our waste catchers. I designed and fabricated them back in 2010 when we bought our 60 Tom Edwards. Also added a bunch of L.E.D. Lighting to the unit that. I think my next modification to the unit will be the stripper. It’s the only part of the machine that I’ve despised. I like Edwards urethane stripper but not sure how well they work.
      Thanks for watching.
