Cant believe how the Cubs fell apart this game and the game against the Brewers; 2 fucking runs in 22 innings!! This video reminded me why it might’ve not been the worst idea to trade the core at the deadline; the constant uncompetitive at bats, the strikeouts, the weak ground balls, I appreciate the core and what they did for the fanbase but after 2019 it was time to move on
yeah, this was pretty much the end of the Cubs 3 year "dynasty". If there is a good thing about the lockout and probably the cancellation of the season, it's that I don't have to watch Heyward chop a weak ground ball back to pitcher for another year.
That ending to the season was a quick death, one moment you are up in 1st place and best record in the NL, next moment your season comes to an end in the Wild Card Game, the thing that bothered me the most was the ending. my two cents, had we won the division, I think we could have shaken off the ending and won the pennant and could have changed the overall direction of our core, but this loss changed the whole look around
@@BaseballRoscoe25 agreed it was such a sudden collapse and the Brewers were really hot. I don’t think they’d progress far in the playoffs given how bad the offense was for some time but that 3rd straight division title would’ve been nice. It became clear the core was figured out by the Dodgers and they never became that potent offensive unit we had hoped for
@@famguy218 I think we could have shook it off and at least make the NLCS, had we won the pennant or the World Series in 2018, I think the core would still be here today and they would be like National league's Astros (not the cheating, but the winning pennants and winning consistently)
Couple of suggestions I have: - 2004 NLCS Game 6 - 2004 World Series Game 1 - 2004 ALCS Games 5 & 6 - 2003 World Series Game 4 - 2011 World Series Game 1 - 2008 AL Central Tie Breaker - 2008 All Star Game
I remember the pain i felt watching this game the cubs bats again going silent i remember i had school and i stayed up late to watch this game god i wish i didnt
Was at this game and it sucked to see the cubs lose but it was one of the best atmospheres ever... better than some games I went to in the 2016 playoffs
Watched this game as a brewers fan, so I wanted to play the rockies great game i watched that night I think it was 1 am when the game finished. Cubs it 2 days went from the top of the nl to out of the playoffs lol
Keep it up with the forgotten classics, especially with baseball stopped for now. Some of the last you posted I remember and considered classics but the majority of the ones posted (especially the older ones) are great games that I never knew about. And if I were to search for it on TH-cam, I probably wouldn't find a quality highlight video.
This game hurts soo bad as a Cubs fan. It was the perfect ending to blowing the Division 2 years in a row. It’s almost like a new curse started after the WS but I’ll take it
The cubs were literally gifted this game that Rockies team was so good shame they play in the same Dickson as the dodgers probably could’ve been a 2 seed that year
@@jojothegreat7 I agree, but to be honest we should have score.more than 1 run because at one point in our season we were hitting no issues, but that's baseball, also I had a feeling when we were using starters out of our pen, we were doomed
@@Packsuperbowl no, had the Cubs won at least the division that year they would’ve been still alive. The Cubs were the best team in the NL and seemed to have pulled away from Milwaukee entering September before they got hot. All signs pointed to another NLCS trip, which would’ve been their 4th in a row. Ultimately playing 40 games in 42 days and 30 straight did not help matters and played a critical role in their downfall. This game was quite devastating. They never recovered, however they did win the division in 2020 so that’s something I guess.
@@dougg2012 Thank you! Had we won the division this year, that could have changed things for our "core" and we could have won the pennant, but we stumbled and the 2020 division doesn't really count in my opinion, had 2020 been a regular 162 game season, we likely would have finished 72-90 or worse
I still think if the Cubs won this game, they would’ve run the table, beat the Dodgers and Brewers, and reach the World Series in 2018. Instead, it was the beginning of the end of the 2016 core.
Can't believe there's no comments talking about Freeland throwing to first in the first inning, I thought he faked it. Gotta be one of the smoothest pitchers I've ever seen
As a rockies fan, i really hate our ownership, this team couldve been something special and it ment a lot to us coloradans, but as soon as we didnt resign Cargo or DJ i knew it was gonna be over, and i would do anything to get this team back
Bro who does miss Cargo In Colorado such a great and hilarious dude Colorado Rockies need more players like Cargo almost every player In the team is getting old
I know it’s 2022 but the Rockies have done a poor job with their trades of Nolan Arenado and letting Story go now instead of trading those guys at their peek to get some good young players back get some good young pitching to help themselves but from what it looks like they didn’t get anything substantial for Story with how everything going on I mean that’s a horrible job as a franchise
They seriously need to sell the team. The fanbase is too good to not give them a competitive team. The stadium is beautiful and a fun place to be, but without a good team to root for it seems hollow. I know it's a tough division, but still
This game was the downfall of the 2016 cubs, they were in first place in their division with a week to play and eventually ended tied with the brewers. The cubs lost game 163 to lose division and then lose here to be out of the playoffs

Yup that’s true haha we haven’t had a good season since
I agree

He’s a white Sox fan maybe he’s trying to rub it in lol
Hahaha I don't hate the Cubs even being a Sox fan, maybe because I don't live in Chicago but I've never had a reason to hate them
@@EXE-Edits haha for sure; we truthfully are just trying to forget this game 😅
This was actually a really great game. Crazy plays and tension almost every inning
How can anyone forget this game? Its the only good moment for the Rockies in the last decade sadly.
MY FAVORITE GAME. Thank you
So many stressful and surprising moments+ the terrible umping, it’s a masterpiece
As a Cub fan, I'm glad this was "forgotten" lol, this game was pretty much the end of our core (Rizzo, Bryant, Schwarber, Baez)
Amazing that it was only a few years ago that this Rockies squad was this good.
And we got rid of them

Thank you for this. Perfect example of that classic saying, "Forgotten but not remembered."
Such a disappointing performance in the NLDS after this. 2018 has to be my favorite Rockies year since 07-09
Especially since the 2019 year was a GIANT Disappointment

thank you. As a Rox fan I don't have many good memories but this is one of em
That 2018 rockies team was severely underrated unfortunately we just ran outta gas and never recovered next season
this was one of the best (worst?) games i ever saw live. also, as a cardinals fan, i loved the outcome then and i REALLY love the outcome now
As a Rockies fan, waiting for the lockout to resolve, this is one of my favorite moments in club history

03 world series with Josh Beckett complete-game shadow in Yankee Stadium that's a good one too

Jessica Mendoza: That is a win for the cubs
Trevor story: Scores game winning run in the 13th and Rockies win in 13
As a Cubs fan I remember this collapse at wrigley. Think this was the last game we had as an actual contender. Hard to watch in hindsight
huge props to matt vasgersian, this game was masterfully called.
The highly infamous and that's a win for the Cubs comment.
What really annoyed be about this Cubs team was that they scored 2 or less runs in 40- something games. Essentially boom or bust for them.
This game was number 9 in the top 10 games of the 2018 season
