Hi, Forgive me for telling you something you already know but the best places that you WILL find gold is on the outside edge of a bend. On the right where the river goes left, and on the left where it goes right. Old and new prospectors always start at these at and several inches above where there might have been storm water.
Enjoyed it. Learning about gold sluicing too. Been in the rivers and creeks lately. I'm going to explore a creek where a 1904 schoolhouse was. I need a metal detector. I'll just be eyeballing this site for now.

Just a little trick with those sluice mats. Dry them out and belt them into your pan. You will be amazed as too how much gets gold trapped in those matts.
