This mod is a proof of how pvz modding has no limits, specialy with decomp on hand
ngl this mod will increase the PC versions popularity since a lot of people only have console for the versus mode (and maybe the houses)
I think the zombies may be slightly too good? Just a hunch. Giga-Footballs, Ice Block Zombies, Gargs, Giga-Gargs, Gladiantuars, Boss Gladiantuar and Zomboss are all extremely tough to manage
A good start would be Coffee Bean is 25 sun for the early game
I think the reason zombies are so strong is because protecting the graves is much easier than protecting sunflowers.
The graves are always protected by the hords of zombies which are supposed to die anyway while the plants all need to be protected otherwise the plant side will lose out on sun.
Not only that but the gravestones seem so bulky for the plants while a single basic zombie can get rid of multiple sunflowers if not dealt with.
For these reasons it's easier to get resources (sun and brains) for zombies than for plants.
My best advice on balancing versus mode would be to reduce graves hp or increase cooldown on spamable zombies

However in the long run, zombie side will eventually lose as it get overrun by offense plants, as placing down plants is a one-time only and it will keep attacking as long as it lives.
In the other hand, not only zombie side have to constantly spawn zombies which is already high-upkeep cost, the graves are also being destroyed, leading to loss of brains production overtime.

Honestly they should have made cofee bean cost 25 sun like the og versus mode, bec of the zombie spam early game meta
It looks like Zombies are overpowered, making dancing zombies more expensive with giga football zombies might deal with that, or longer gravestone recharge
Nah, gravestones are fine. They have to be the same recharge as Sunflowers or there'll be an unbalanced production. The zombies themselves need changes
@@brawlmaster0190 cost nerfs + 25 sun coffee bean should do it. the low cost + more expensive coffee bean makes weakens plants + stregnths zombies. the base game version doomshroom aside is reasonably balanced
they just not play that great tbh , not a single one of them choose to sacrifire a lane or spam sunflower
@@user-pi7yp9io4sYou're clearly never seen how different VS mode is... or played VS mode yourself for that matter... How about watch some VS mode tournament, and see how the meta works.
P.S : due to more zombie choices, I suggest you should also give plant side one extra slot cause giga footballs, other giant zombies need a lot of plant setups to counter them.
I don't see the need for this, stronger zombies need an absurd amount of sun to be planted, the opponent will hardly let you save that much sun
@@a.a.1012 giga football zombies costs 225 sun and needs two instant plants to kill them. Same to giant zombies and dancing zombies.
@@IAARPOTI Yes, giga football needs to be balanced, and imo gladiantuar should cost more than giga gargantuar, but in relation to zomboss and giga glad they are fine

You should change coffee bean sun cost from 75 sun to 25 sun for controlling early game spam. Sun balance is a must need for fair game play and game design. Zombies are way too cheaper than the plants. Especially disco zombies and giga football zombies.
why not just half the cost of everything since versus mode is meant to be fast paced

My idea for balancing is making the different zombies available at different waves or at later time
Ex: football & dancing z at wave2 or after 4 mins

I think it will be more balanced if zombies could only spawn from gravestones. Zombies have a crazy advantage in versus mode.
Maybe you can also add night, pool, fog, roof and moon variants.
Also, giving plants an extra seed slot could help balance it too

@@board-qu9iu Nah, more like the entire price increase and decrease from VS console. If not, Starfruit would be 175 instead 125, Repeater should be 150 instead 200, Snowpea would be 150 instead 175, Cactus would be 100 instead 100 (but still useless in VS unless zombie side pick balloon zombie or reworked). This more like VS mode for fun (with custom plants and zombies) than for balance like what console version VS intended for (altough not perfect because Doom Shroom and Puff Shroom need to be nerfed if coffee bean is buffed, Basic zombie spam also need to be nerfed for other zombies to thrive and plant side not forced to early game focused plants strategy, etc.)

THEY ACTUALLY BROUGHT VS MODE TO PC, OH MY GOD!!!
If they can do that, then hopefully they'll bring the Heavy Weapon Minigame to PC ad well.

@@GetYoSwagUp In pvz on ps3/xbox 360 if you press start on the second player's controller you will start CO-OP,Also the 8 seed CO-OP challenges are just Survival levels,(which are normal and hard day,night,pool and roof and there's no fog survivals)Wall-Nut Bowling and the Zomboss fight

Looks cool as a start to all the possible 2 players PvZ battles. All what's left is pick the right balance for it.
What I would change in balancing part is:
1. early game for zombies with very slow production of gravestones (or dynamic change of cost for zombies with very high values at the start)
2. an early game temporary shield on the red line for zombies
3. do something with new types of zombies. Most of them are pretty much OP for the price and recharge speed
Maybe that would balance out the play style from both sides that boils down to whoever first overwhelms the opponent. It would be cool to see both expensive plants on the lawn and hordes of zombies attacking.
Perhaps something in plants win condition also needs to change so that could happen
Zombies are way too overpowered. 1000 is way too cheap for zomboss, and 750 is way too cheap for giga gladiantuar. The win condition is also unfair for the plants, they should only have to kill one of the targets to win. Finally, graves are too cheap at 50 sun considering they are harder to kill than sunflowers, they should be 75 at least.

kinda nice to see it actually happened
this is super cool and i'm very thankful that this is actually a thing! my only gripe so far is that the plants aren't balanced like they are in the console vs modes, like coffee bean costing only 25 sun and starfruit costing 175 sun, but i'm sure those can be fixed.

Fun fact: survival endless does actually end. You just to want to get wave 2,899,909,999 and when you pass that wave the game crashes repeatedly. And if you go over the limit the survival endless actually restarts
that happens for every endless round games for exmaple like PAC-Man

However, I think some tanky zombie like Giga Football and Ice block need some nerf cus it required too much of a specific counter
The Boss Gladiantuar in multiplayer is cursed 😂
This mod became one of my favorites, it's very well polished and I'm excited to try the versus mode out at some point!
Seeing this just after watching Dan's nearly 3 hour long analysis video of PvZ as a franchise and its downfall. Honestly warms my heart to see what modders do with the game and how they make it better. It makes me smile seeing two people who are just having dumb fun playing against each other.

I think that Gravestones should be nerfed a little since it's way easier for zombies to keep them alive than for plants to protect sunflowers. Gravestones should either have a slower recharge or increased cooldown between brain production

This is so cool! You just have to add the balance changes to the plants, such as reducing/increasing the sun cost, and instant loading at the start of the play for some plants, so the player using the plants won't struggle in early game :B

They should make more expensive the strongers zombies. It is literally broken that the Giga All-Stars cost 225 brains.
And maybe dont make playable the bosses, cause, y'know, imagine fight the Gladiantuar only with 6 plants slots. 💀

I'm confused tho. So far the downloadable mod doesn't have the versus mode and I already beat adventure mode.
I think you should add in a proper results screen, like in the original console versions. Oh, and the plant/zombie trophies depending on which player wins.
Zombies are currently overpowered especially since player controlled zombies simply way too unpredictable compared to how zombies have always spawned. A good step is to make it so zombies always spawn by walking in from the right of the screen instead of being placed 3 tiles ahead.

bug fixes aside. theres some stuff which might be one to change. making starfruit 175, making coffee bean 25 + making the strong zombies like giga football more expensive. the new zombies being added/created were to keep up with the higher power plants. 175 star fruit is right for base versus mode and only needs to be 200+ if zombies get weaker overall.
Also Dr.Zomboss don't need to add on this, cause plants will lose their advantage a lot and also Giant Gladiantuar
@@ximoblade I think they're a cool addition, but both Zomboss and Giga-Gladiantuar would need a big HP nerf for them to work in a place like VS
@@brawlmaster0190Ok, i respect your idea, but i think that Zomboss is not deserved to be on Vs Mode, you see, in normal we could beat him easily, but in vs mode, players has more advantage by spamming even more zombies so that plants couldn't keep it and same as Giant Gladiantuar

While everybody cheering the adding VS. Mode on PC version of PvZ, I dare to ask how this thing will work in mod itself? Does player need to have two working mouses and multi-mouse support for playing this mod on one PC or this mode will have online support? And should I expect Co-op Mode port as well?

The zombies are way too underpriced for pacing, i feel like it's just too easy to get many sorta overpowered zombies. I think it's a bit biased on the zombie side and a lot more unfair as the plants, since sun producing is a lot slower in comparison to the zombies.
base versus mode had this to an extent but 25 puff + coffee combo make plant early game not too bad. its the new zombies that are too undercosted + lack of 25 sun coffee bean causing further issues.
When is VS mode become a multiplayer thing for this mode
Zombies have always been op in pvz vs so the fact that's still the case is not surprising, they should find a way to balance it

imo I would like 7-8 slots for both, giving more opportunities for strategies, 50 sun coffee bean, high cooldown for better zombies and maybe hotkey for better plays

Add Rally Flag Zombies, basically Flag Zombies but faster, has double the health of a regular zombie, and boosts every zombie in a huge wave with the same effects as a blood moon, it would only be a thing in hard mode(Hard Mode exclusive zombies makes it more challenging, if it's doable)

i think the zombies have a higher advantage here. maybe change up the zombies' brain cost, or make the brain sun value to 15. but apart from that, it looks great!!
