I really appreciate people like you who don't mind sharing & educating lazy people like me. I had playing a song over and over again trying to learn it. Thank you again!!!!!
Nice tutorial brother........Chord wise though the first chord is a Bb9Sus4, The second chord is a Fm/Bb (slash chord) and the 5th chord is also a Cm7-5 (half diminished chord). Just wanted to explain that so other adventurous musicians could find those chords or explain them if need be. Keep up the good work though! The progression is really just a 6-3-1-4 with passing chords at the end. The end goal is to get back to the Bb (6 Chord) so they used the 7th chord as a secondary dominant to F and then used the augmented 4th as a secondary dominant to get back to the Bb(6th). For those who maybe interested in how to create a chord progression like that on their own. Sorry for the short theory explanation.
Thanks for the quick theory lesson man! I might need you email address or something because i ALWAYS have questions about chord names. For example, what would you call a chord that consists of the notes F# C F?
One question! If the '7th chord' (C is the 7th in Db Major) is the secondary dominant of the 3 (F)... then the 'augmented 4th' (the F chord which is actually the 3 of Db) is referring the 4th of the C Major scale correct? .... I understand how the Cm7b5 acted as the slash chord by replacing the 3... but why take the secondary dominant of the 6 (the Faug) to bring you back to it? Thanks.
Very nice tutorial! Appreciated you giving the chord names and breaking down the bass. Most people will give you the basic chords but will gloss over the tricks and flips to make it sound funky. I'm like "chords are nice and all, but show me THAT! I'm not trying to sound just like everyone else. I wanna stand out." Lol, good tutorial bro! If you got more, I'm definitely clicking like on the next one.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment! Very motivating. I have plenty more tutorials and I also supply sheet music now to help people follow along!
You did a great job. This is my first time learning some chords. I've made rap beats for years using one hand to play notes but im older and need a little sophistication. Thank you for sharing.
you brother.... the truth!!!! thank you!!!! great teacher. I love music and I appreciate the joy you've brought to my musical world haha. Thank you sir!!!
Thanks a WHOLE lot... this is one of the smoothest tunes that's come around in a long time (I'm old) and you knocked it out with you explanation... appreciate ya brother
Man I’m a BIG FAN ALREADY!!! Is there a way I can request a chord breakdown? I wish I can play by ear. I have a song request for some super sick chords I’ve been trying to learn forever. I’ll post the link if you can. Please let me know. Much appreciated in advance.
Mannn I just learned this song from you I really appreciate you for this you’re a great teacher thank you so much. I’ve been practicing all day I finally got it thanks again.
this was very good... the accents to the chords were awesome ,the term "walking up or down "I thought were only used in wind instruments but i know now that it can be both percussion and wind..thank you for the video.
Carleton Maybell this was such a thorough video. Needed this song. You’re like that cool teacher who always make class enjoyable. Will be coming back to your page. Thumbs up 👍🏿
Hands down the best piano tutorials I've seen on youtube so far. I'd love to hear more about the chord functions, as in "this is the 5 chord of the scale" or "this chord is not in the scale, but it works because..." that kind of stuff. Also something like "this is a "2,4,5 chord progression" or something like that would be cool xD do you have any recommendations for books that you used, where one can learn the theory and the thinking behind making such chord progressions? Or did you just play loads of jazz, gospel and R&B stuff and teach it yourself?
I used to play keys and I haven't played in years since 1991, but I am now a full-time DJ but at the same time I think it's time to get back on the keys. Thanks
Love your videos!!! Just a suggestion for us beginners, it would be really cool and helpful to display the lyrics of the chord it coordinates with that way it catches a feel for the melody of the song. Just something that'd be nice to see while learning the song ❤️
I would like to do that and it's possible, but its really HARD. If i had a someone else edit all my videos, i would have them do it though lol. Thanks for the suggestion!

???
If viewed in the relative minor key (Bb Minor), it would just be a: 1 - 3 - 6 | 2 - 5 - 1 progression
Killed the vocals 😂😂
Haven’t laughed that hard in a minute lol
LOL thats funny!! Thanks for the comment.
