@vickyRoyalHistory Hello Dear Vicky!! Always love a question, so it's nice you asked!
The Duty Drummer, in charge of carrying the Colours case and Signaling with his bugle is traditionally attached to the Guards detachment behind the Band. They usually follow their respective detachment and Colour. They usually march with the Band to St. James Palace as they don't stay with the detachment during they're Mount. They go back to Wellington Barracks with the Band. That's why we usually see them march behind the Bands before and after the full ceremony starts. Hope this answers your question, please do let me know if it hasn't! Stay safe, warm Huggz!! I haven't forgotten about your E Mail, don't feel abandoned!

Great to see and hear both bands performing in nice conditions, not too hot and no soaking! Bet you were glad of that too MrBaton! Thanks for giving your time to film and sharing.👍

Was a lovely weekend weather wise, only a little overcast on Sunday morning but that soon cleared up. Much better than the King's Birthday Parade.

@vickyRoyalHistory hi Vicky. Yes you’ve been busy here there and everywhere and I’ve been a bit preoccupied with a few jaunts of my own squashed between having visitors staying with us here for quite a while. I can’t remember the last time we “chatted” so it’s great to hear from you. Yes thank you, I did thoroughly enjoy my experience watching the review LIVE! It’s a bit like comparing watching rugby on the tv as opposed to actually going to a match in that the views given by the cameras allow you to see more and from many angles BUT there’s no buzz from feeling the atmosphere when actually there. One complaint I have is that the programme didn’t have a photo of our favourite DM!!! How very dare they!🧐
I feel pretty despondent that it was announced that it was his final Kings Birthday Parade😔 However I’m hoping he’ll still be the main man when I pop back to London in a couple of weeks for the Military Musical Spectacular! I thought I’d better get to that whilst there was still a chance! He’ll be a hard act to follow and even harder to match. Oh well…….
Hope you haven’t worn yourself out with all your work and that you’re keeping well. I’ll be flying over you in December on the way to Dunedin, I’ll wave😎

@vickyRoyalHistory Hi Vicky! Hope you’re well, yesssss sooooo enjoyed the Trooping! Front row seats as I said before AND I did see a quick shot of myself and sister (remember’front row, end seat, pink jacket 😊)but not sure if it was deliberate
(according to your instructions 🤣) A cool day, cooler as the event went on but it did nothing to spoil our enjoyment and it was great to know that the troops would no doubt have welcomed it. I knew when I saw the first band coming in that there would be no royalty present as the SDM was not in state dress and in the circumstances I didn’t expect any. There was one odd thing happened, in the middle of the Trooping when the troops were slow marching around the square a woman climbed the steps , stood on the platform/landing and started taking pictures. I thought I wonder if that was allowed as she was completely blocking my view of the troops as they did their complicated corner turns (and many other peoples view too!) She stayed there but next thing the lovely guard who was allocated to our stand went up to her and I heard him say ‘Sorry madam but you can’t stand there’ she said she could as she was Army Media. He repeated that she couldn’t, she answered him but I couldn’t hear what she said, he repeated calmly and quietly what he’d said, by this time he had managed to get her down two steps. This went on with her trying to insist that she was allowed to do what she was doing until they reached the bottom step and she sort of disappeared. Even the guard doesn’t stand there unless he needs to give the spectators instructions. Imagine coming all that way for her to block the view! I thought army media were in uniform and had professional cameras, she was not in any uniform and was using her phone! I was so grateful for that guard. What a nerve she had. Anyway I hope things are good for you. 😊I thoroughly enjoyed the whole event. I had friends who flew over the night before, went to the Mall at 5am then flew back (to Belfast) that night. I would like to see the procession to and from Horseguards but don’t know if I could stand that long, we’ll see….thanks for your message 😊

@vickyRoyalHistoryHi Vicky, well if I’d known that Mr Baton had gone out of his way to do that and you ,Delvin , and Charlotte were waving I would certainly have waved back! 🤣. I feel honoured😮. Thank you so much. (I feel rude now). Yes, I didn’t say but I wanted to dispatch that woman by any means possible!! I wouldn’t have been ladylike..I did not see the drum horses do what you said, I assume you meant at the Trooping? Unfortunately too far away - I did bring binoculars though (seriously)🤣. I do think the drum horses are so majestic don’t you think? Shire horses I call them. I also like to see the Cavalry, Lifeguards and Blues and Royals. What a sight the farriers are with their axes, where else in the world could it be seen? Another thing I love to see and hear are the bagpipes, the pipers look splendid. If I lived closer I’d try an go to all the events. When I was there for a few days my youngest granddaughter met us so I had a double treat. Have to tell you this; my Granddaughter is doing an internship (taking a break from her PhD) )in a government building. She mentioned that she often hears music and she and her colleagues can never work out what it is or where it’s coming from… guess where? Very close to Wellington barracks!!!!! She couldn’t believe it when I forwarded her a video with bands, pipes and guards (seemed like hundreds of them) blasting their music. I laughed so much and said that if I was in her shoes I would be at the barracks gazing wistfully through the railings at every opportunity 😂😂. She understands my love of the Forces and tolerates me!!😂 keep the messages coming Vicky, they’re so interesting. 😊

Bonsoir monsieur. Je serai sur Londres pour 8 jours à partir de de ce vendredi, je viens voir le spectacle "Military Musical Spectacular", quand ont lieu les répétitions? Je vais aller à Windsor, de quel lieu part la relève de la garde pour arriver au château? Enfin, quand se tient The Massed Bands of HM Royal Marines Beating Retreat Rehearsal ? Merci pour vos réponses, toujours un plaisir de regarder vos vidéos.

Hello, the Royal Marine Beat Retreat is on 11th / 12th July, you may just catch the last day.
At Windsor the Guard Change starts at Victoria Barracks on Sheet Street.
There may be a rehearsal for the Military Musical Spectacular on Monday next week, not sure though.
On Saturday 13th, there is the Belgian Cenotaph parade which I think should happen in Whitehall in the morning.
On Wednesday next week, the 17th, it should be the State Opening of Parliament which will happen around Westminster and The Mall area.
Hope that helps. Enjoy your visit.
