Just imagine how great it would feel to watch a cricket world cup where all the top 20 or 24 teams play altogether- not round 1 and round 2 like now; where even though smaller nations play the world cup- they still don't get to be a part of the main round with big teams. (I mean they do, but there's only like 2 to 4 spots for them) I know that 8-9 teams will dominate but imagine all the great moments we will get to see; all the upsets, all the centuries, all the excitement from the smaller sites, all the unknown talents we will get to witness. Cricket world cup is okey now, I definitely enjoy it as a cricket fan- but it doesn't feel like a "world" cup- it just feels like a long extended series or champions trophy. couldn't agree more, I believe the ICC is headed in the right direction towards a world cup with 20 - 24 nations and potentially pools. It would be great to see it now but some of the developing cricket nations would find its hard to compete at that level. In a few years when some more countries have a higher cricketing profile this is 100% possible.
