Ever since watching and rewatching your videos I've been buying so many spokeshaves! Now I realized I need the large veritas ss and a drawknife too! Thanks for making these videos man.
Your videos are fantastic, the most powerful showcase of superb craftsmanship I can remember seeing. People looking for premier furniture would need to look no further. I have nothing to do with the firm other than a stuanch admirer, thanks for sharing.
Beautiful work. And these chairs will mean so much more to the future owner than the mass-produced junk made today (at least they should). I know they certainly would for me.
@@solidsnake9332 That depends on your priorities and what you want. If you want junk, buy junk. That's your choice. I have an original Victorian settee in my living room. Hand made. I wouldn't trade it for a shipload of Walmart furniture. Personally, when I'm ready to buy furniture, I'll save up money and wait/look for a meaningful, quality piece, rather than hitting Walmart. But to each his or her own. Buy what you like. I don't mind the wait.
@@christocr you didnt get it? Okay. . . I was just painting the picture of modern consumers for you. Im all for heirloom and classic furniture. They were truly works of art. Now youre quick to judge and placed me in such a category as the modernist consumer, but everyones quick to judge, especially on the internet.
The hand work makers they deserve a big one and strong respect. Today everything is machine made.... rubish . It's a great work what you do and you will get the respect from every doby.
I think even more amazing than the final product is the amount of patience that must need to be cultivated and the love for your craft you must have to be able to do all that. How many hours of work would all those chairs take?
Would you consider doing a video on your sharpening method and plane setup/technique? I realize that there are a lot of videos on those topics however, you clearly have mastered sharpening and hand tool use. I can assure you that the community would appreciate it. Thanks!
notice they don't use sandpaper..those plain and chisel blades are "WICKED SHARP"!! the cut they deliver needs no further work..great vids..love them..im a 40 year furniture maker and can appreciate the level of craftsmanship your on..im subed
I'm really grateful you take the time to document your craftsmanship. Over the long run, this information may be even more important than the work you produce. It would be even better if you included (in the video's description) a list of the tools you used.
as a matter of fact most crafstmen were very secretive. It's not peoples right to know how things are done :) he learned it from somewhere and it's his choice to share it or not :) maybe when hes older he will feel regret that he will take the knowledge to the grave
I love watching your videos, just pure haven to hand tool workers and lovers! I noticed you chisel bevel is a complete mirror, and your tools cut so beautiful. Could you share which stones you use and\or any other sharpening tip you might deem important?
WOW. I am always amazed. SO much to comment on. hat round faced plane, the unique steady rest on the lathe. Tremendous work. Aside from the band saw it was done the same way as the original. Maybe they had a water powered band saw then?
I always look forward to seeing these types of videos showing your craftsmanship but they never show any of the finishing process. Do you do your own finishing or is it sent out?
Queria trabalhar com esse rapaz pelo menos um ano, assim absolveria uma parte da técnica fantástica que ele usa pra fazer não só estas cadeiras mas todos os tipos de moveis que ele faz, parabéns curto muito seu trabalho, fantástico!
What brand/model spokeshaves are you using here? Looks like you're using regular and low angle versions. The color makes me think Veritas. Just curious.
Thanks for posting your video. You can still get Woody Hyezmar's Bible, the net is roaring with rave reviews, but who knows? googling it and see I guess
Really great handcraft work!! I like the sound of the hammering in time lapse :) What kind of tools do you use for shaping ? It seems you have an endless amount of slicers.
This is a very nice project and very detailed job! Nice work! What is the approximate length if time soent on one chair from start to finish? Also what is tbe price of a single chair?
Very impressive! Even making one reproduction chair looks hard, but so many and so consistently? That’s real craftsmanship! Very well done! 👍🏻
Yes, one is excellent.😮 Then he starts skiting.😅😊
Always a perfect hand made job, it's a victory against factory's junk made furniture.

Thank you! Seeing your video is always like an eating in a fine cuisine restaurant.
Amazing video and project, I like the fast forward and stop motion techniques that were used to tell the story of the build.
You make it all look so easy, the sign of a great craftsman.
Wow, beautiful chairs and an awesome video. Can't imagine how time you spend just sharpening.
Making Furniture Like A Boss! Absolutly Amazing!

Those chairs seem so alive! Excellent job!
I love to go to a class if they offered. I very much admire these people. Thanks for posting
Beautiful work. And these chairs will mean so much more to the future owner than the mass-produced junk made today (at least they should). I know they certainly would for me.
Would you rather wait half a year for a set of chairs or have them delivered to your door in a day?

Beautiful job
Thanks for watching our video! The brass spokeshaves are HNT Gordon, they make high quality hand tools.
+Doucette and Wolfe Furniture Makers Is HNT Gordon a US company. Greetings from Scotland.
was there a plastic insert in the spoke shave used about 5 minutes in? If so, was that part of the tool or a shop addition and what was its purpose?
I would guess its to keep the shavings from rolling under the spokeshave and stopping the cut.
Amazing! Thank you wery much!
This guy has amazing skills & good control of hand tools, great i love to watch your projects.Have a drink on me
Insane as always. Bravo Matthew.
