Steve crossed so many lines. Some of his acoustic work reminds me of Windham Hills stuff... Michael Hedges etc. I am so glad I saw the Dreggs. An Epic band !
You are very welcome, all of you! I got this from a friend who had the original vcr, he had it transfered to dvd and I managed to edit and upload. This awesome stuff just has to be shared!!!
Right about when this was made in the early 1990s, I saw Steve Morse Band at a great club in Seattle called The Backstage in Ballard. This was right when the godfathers of grunge were all ascending wildly into the big time with record contracts. Almost all of the guitar luminaries were there (Thayill, Cantrell, Gossard, McCready etc) to witness the Master Steve Morse in action. With the mighty Dave LaRue on bass and Van Romaine on drums of course! Heady times.
Here's a good little story, I saw him giving a clinic at guitar center in San Diego. He started to play Vista Grande and about half way through I looked at the crowd and everyone had tears in thier eyes including myself. To witness that song live was a true treat and a privelage. It was so beautiful!
Hello Marije !....all these compilations of Steve,s work with Dregs material, SMB material are incredible.....I always loved him in Deep Purple but it's here with his own material and his several own styles that you can understand how Steve is just awosme with electric or acoustic guitar...I met some guys fan of DP said Steve is a very good guitar player but they prefer RB...I can understand that to see a band like DP with all originals members is great but these guy heve never listened how Steve is different with his own material....For me Steve is a so sweet, funny human being with a guitar technic of a Terminator !!! AWSOME !!!
its amazing how many guitar players started with that animals house of the rising sun lick and of course the reason is most of the major chords are in the song so its ideal to learn on
WOW! Truly one of the true virtuosos. I saw Steve at Cardi's in Houston back in late 70's early 80's. Why wasn't he on the G3 Tour with the greats of Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson...? Unless he passed and I didn't know???
Scott Henderson, nice fella. Often a guest lecturer at my school. Jimmy Herring was my instructor. He was heavily influenced by Morse now he’s a huge name himself 🤷♂️
I knew he is one of the guitarist in deep purple, but after this video I think he is great. Also I wanna know what song when he play start from 1:24 , thank you.
+Arhauw曾崇豪 Steve Morse is one of the very best composers and guitarists on the planet :-)That song is called Tumeni Notes, from the album High Tension Wires. You really should check out all his work with Dixie Dregs, Steve Morse Band, Kansas and Flying Colors. And also check out the Steve Morse Fan Page on Facebook, facebook.com/groups/stevemorse :-)
GrericPoperic7 three years later, here it goes. The song is called Morning Rush Hour, from Coast to Coast album. It's been a long time that I'm searching for this tab. It's really hard to find something about this track. I can't understand why, because it's an awesome track.
CLASSY GUY....AMAZING PLAYER....
One of my all time favorite musicians!
The level of this man on guitar was then, and still is, amazing...💪🏼💪🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I just repeated something someone else said.I do play guitar and I still think he is the best i have ever heard.
Just saw him for the 1st time last Sunday. I've listened to him many years. He is the greatest player I have ever seen.
I recognize House of the Rising Sun there, I believe. Steve is such a humble genius. Thanks!

0:23 Love Steve's sense of humour.
He has an absolutely fantastic sense of humor, very dry and witty, kinda sick ;) Totally love it!

Awesome :)
Virtuoso indeed! He finally particpated in G3 last year, with Satriani and Vai, and Satriani and Petrucci.
The song played during the intro of this show is called Morning Rush Hour
Yep, from Coast to Coast. A great record. I especially like Cabin Fever. The first solo in that composition is stunning.
Thanks!!!
Saw the Dixie dregs for the first time at The Roxie in 1979. Hooked in their music since.
