I think the officer at the beginning brought the news of the boy's Father's death in combat just as the girl received the same information about her father at the end of the video. Love this song, causes chills, especially the message at the end of the video. The song was also used for the game "Medal of Honor".
That's was exactly like a military death notification visit in the beginning. They go to the home. Usually 2 officers together and one is a chaplain. During the 2 World Wars there were too many to do it that way but they usually do if they can.

Hi, Thanks for the reaction. Of course I know it is Linkin Park ( Predictive text issues). As far as I am aware The boy at the beginning is the son of a Navy Seal. The Officer is informing the family of the fathers death. The boy has to deal with the loss of his father and then like so many military families, grows up to follow his father/parent into the military. The end has come full circle as he is now the officer that has to break the bad news to the next generation.
The story was about the officer informing the boy his father had died in the war so now the boy going through his father's things and the boy grows up to be a soldier and no that was not his daughter that was just a child he was informing that her one of her father or mother passed away
Wow! Never saw this. Loved it! I think I saw it differently. When the boy put on the hat, it looked like he grew up and did as his father. Because it was the same man as the boy became, when he put on the hat that had to deliver the same bad news to another child. Great visuals to a fantastic song and as already mentioned in the comments from others I also think that the officer brings bad news to the children😔. But I have to admit that the video for me personally was occasionally a bit to much to capture as I was so busy with understanding and finding out how the lyrics does fit to this video🤔. But that’s just me as I’m still struggling with the language🤦🏻♀️. I think I have to go back and rewatch it😉. This aside, of course it is a very haunting theme to true tales and a fantastic sound🎸🎵. Growing up as an army child i knew immediately what it ment if someone in uniform showed up at the door. You always fear that moment with all your heart whenever your loved one goes across sea’s to fight. Im glad i never had this happen to me but i always feared for that day whenever my dad got deployed. Its the most terrifying thing ever for a military family

No matter the reason, no matter how some governments may try to justify it, at the end of the day war is hell. And it's not only the soldiers fighting the war that suffer. That's the reality of war.

It's brutal, but very much worth it. Be warned, it's not anywhere close to "pretty" vocally as either Sound of Silence or Castle of Glass.

Anyway, when he committed suicide, (Chris), Chester couldn’t handle it mentally and on Chris Cornell birthday (2 months later) 2017, he took his life the same way Chris took his.
