    Dear God, This seems semi-barbaric. My grandfather is 92 years old and was a Yale trained physician. He contracted Covid-19. He was fortunate to have had a mild case put was on oxygen and thank God he survived and is now healthy again. He still has so much wisdom and joy to gave to those that love him.

      Exactly! Why are over 80s lumped into a group of mindless, bedridden people. Many over 80s are vibrant, wise & physically active individuals.

      Most people don't really look into it and just say that in Sweden they think it's the quality of life that is important not extending life at all costs. There are already numbers that show that in those palliative care cohorts swedes are dying at approximately 3x the rate than in other countries ( controlling for case nr), of course showing what quality of life these survivors have will take longer, by which time it will be too late for the Swedish elderly. Unfortunately the media in Sweden is not investigative, it's spreading government propaganda, even the criticism is along the lines of government phrasing (they say failed to protect the elderly instead of purposefully not protecting the elderly eg). It is difficult to break this conditioning in swedes.

    The frustration of living here in Sweden is heartbreaking. 💔😞 I can verify what he said about masks. I wore a mask to a supermarket yesterday and people were staring at me like I had escaped from a prehistoric mental institution or something. And people are living their lives like nothing’s going on. Many people think the pandemic is over. Social distancing basically doesn’t exist. People go to work sick, I actually had to go to the dentist and a woman there was sneezing right next to me and I got a cold after that. (Luckily, just a cold...) Health care and elderly care workers have been advised NOT to wear PPE (I don’t know how it’s now but that’s the case not long ago). People who want to donate homemade masks to health care and elderly care workers are denied. And masks are said to make things worse, indeed that is true. We are basically told that if you wash your hands you’re fine. Nobody’s talking about aerosolisation, or asymptomatic spreading. It’s just “stay home if you’ve got symptoms” that is the message. And now the country is opening up even more. We are basically told it’s over now. And the demonstrations? Don’t get me started... it’s a mess, and I’m constantly worried about the people I love, as well as the vulnerable that are paying the price for our strategy. We’ve already lost one in our family, and I just wish for this to stop. I wish our state epidemiologist will admit they’ve been wrong and try to make it better for Sweden. If I have to choose one word how it’s living in Sweden while being aware of how badly we’re doing, it’s: Anxiety. 24/7 big time anxiety. I don’t understand how money can be more important than human lives, and how the majority of the population doesn’t seem to care. It’s frightening. Honestly. I’m trying to share these videos but even them are being ignored or turned down like “propaganda” by those I know. I’m sharing studies which are being questioned and ignored. The arrogance of the Swedes at the moment, I’m wondering if we’ve just been brought up to believe that this is the best country in the world, and we like to think that we always do it right and better than other countries. Honestly I think we need a big reality check, because what is happening is just wrong. But I have to say I’m not really blaming the people, I’m blaming those in charge because they are misleading everybody and not taking responsibility. People cannot make the right decisions without the correct information. I don’t know what else to say. /sorry for a comment that turned out way longer than I planned

      You can take pride in this inspiring doctor who has taken it on himself to stand up against the central directives. People are sheep but I mean that in a nice way. I am a social animal and depend on people to take a lead. Lets hope the government rethink things- they can change the general attitude quickly if they want. In a related video on Sweden John mentions that symptomatic care staff can attend work at their care homes. That is unbelievably crazy sounding so I really understand and sympathise with your feeling of anxiety.

      There's a lot of Sweden here in the US after "Memorial Day" (ironic name given the current US situation) holiday which has instead of memorializing those who gave their life's in defense of the nation during wartime, has become the start of summer's indulgences: picnics, beaches, ball games, and outdoor parties. Vacation and fun. In this war we haven't yet won one battle in the US. Our "generals" are like those the north had at the start of the Civil War ... all the fighers had gone to the south, the North had the preeners and the sinecured full of high rank and social esteem. No good leader in the pandemic and (so similar to Covid's attack of hyper-agitation) social affliction has yet arisen in US offficialdom, nor even in the US States and cities.

    • @Muzakman37
      @Muzakman37 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Americansikkunt Your TH-cam name is quite apt, well chosen. Petah makes no mention whatsoever of the US situation, this video isn't about the US situation but instead you had to invade this space with your partisan nonsense.
      And as you're on the subject of highly partisan views, here's why the Tulsa rally will be a disaster. Oklahoma is now hitting peak positive cases, the Tulsa Metro is now hitting peak positive cases, the idea of holding a rally *indoors* in Tulsa whilst encouraging rally goers not to wear masks, not to socially distance so that Trump can put on a show for the cameras is quite breathtaking really (no pun intended).
      The protests have all been outside, *some* have exercised impressive distancing, many have worn masks, and most are young. Granted, they may still catch it and spread it asymptomatically and that's why they shouldn't be happening right now in my opinion, but there's little immediate danger to the protesters and everything is done outside.
      The Tulsa rally's average age will be considerably higher, it's likely (if every other Trump rally is anything to go by) that plenty of the rally goers themselves could be in some danger if they contract the virus, and they'll have likely come from all corners of Oklahoma as well as perhaps border regions of neighbouring states (Arkansas,Kansas,N Texas) who are all struggling with record rates of confirmed infections.
      Plus, he's the President. Should he really be encouraging thousands of people to gather in an indoor arena in that part of the country at this time when it's not necessary at this time? Is that responsible leadership? And if he *has* to hold rally there, why do it indoors? Or would that be for security reasons that he cant hold an outdoor rally?

      At the very least the US has some degree of decentralization - it's not exactly unusual for people to dislike the federal state in the US for a wide range of reasons but ultimately various areas of the US are managed quite differently. Sweden is the size and population of a single US state.
      This is a problem in every single country to a lesser or more extent, obviously. Most countries (governments, both the elected "government" and the legislature and civil unelected elements) are heavily criticised and lambasted by many either in their home country or abroad. Sweden sometimes is given the allure of perfection and complete incorruptibility. Doesn't add up in some areas at least.

    A second by the way: the prerogative of the Dutch authorities considering the wearing of face masks is similar to that of Sweden. Even though face masks are now finally obligatory in mass transit, the public is made wary of wearing ‘m. The argument of the Dutch cdc that the people are prone to wrongly use face masks. Something which could be easily solved by proper education and information.
    When we wear our masks people who don’t wear ‘m look at us as if we’re lepers. To us it shows how sadly effective this misinformation campaign from the Dutch government has become.

    I remember reading this and agree completely with what Dr Tallinger says about oxygen not administered to elderly patients in care homes here in Sweden. The reason given that they did not have competent staff to carry this out ! Also agree that face masks should be mandated on public transport and in shops. Why not use a mask when shopping and why not use a plastic glove when checking in and paying at the cash desk ? Common sense surely and it will help towards saving somebody else’s health. If not mandated we can still do it voluntarily. Masks and plastic gloves can be bought on the internet and are not expensive.

      Gloves are of course a big no no. The virus does not penetrate the skin, so at best gloves are irrelevant. But more probably glovistas will contaminate themselves when they pull off their gloves. It's better to wash your hands when coming home.
      Even at the Diamond Princess cruise ship the Japanese health authorities forbade the use of gloves for the passengers, after one day of experimenting with them.
      And face masks are irrelevant outdoors. Outdoors is safer than indoors. Outdoors is healthier than indoors. So if you are the anxious type, take your muzzle off when going out, and put it on again when returning to your not so safe home.

      I believe it can be dangerous while sleeping, if the person is at home. The blood becomes saturated and they forget to breathe. Something like that.
      But in a hospital the patient can be monitored, even in a regular ward.
      If they aren't using the oxygen all night, they should be ok at home as well. But they should probably not be alone.
      Nebulizers with drugs like ventolin are used a lot at home and are often very effective.
      But as I understand, these poor sods are being refused any kind of effective treatment at all, such as an antibiotic, or a day or two with oxygen.
      That dose of morphine is euthanasia.

It is only stores trying to enforce some distancing that reminds you there is a virus out there. If cases don't start rising soon i will be very surprised. The daily official figures look to me as if we have plateaued anyway. They remain stubbornly similar every day.

    There was an episode in Star Trek Next Generation called "Half a Life" where all over 60s on some distant planet were terminated with an appropriate ceremony. I am sure that the script writers never thought a civilised and progressive country such as Sweden would ever let his happen for real.

    • @mjouwbuis
      @mjouwbuis 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The jury must still be out on whether Sweden is progressive and civilised. Isn't it mostly very bureaucratic (maybe hence the oxygen administering problem - people who need a certificate?). What I've heard and read over the years it's a bit as with Poland in the communist days; the "socialist salvationstate" (literal translation of the Dutch word "heilstaat"), everything seems so good there on paper. To the outside observer it looks like there's extreme socialist neoliberals on the one side destroying the country and extreme altright on the other side who would totally destroy the country as well if they were in power and no common sense to go in between. Of course most people aren't like that but the politicians sure seem that way.

      @@AndersJackson Following this video, I checked into a wide variety of other news sources where I confirmed that other doctors were saying the same as Dr Tallinger. However, this does not mean that the UK and its regional parliaments have been without criticism for how they let down the elderly and frail in care homes.

      Brian Griffiths, As a fellow Trekkie I immediately thought of that episode. The difference is the gentleman in that story had been brainwashed his whole life to accept that it was his duty to die at 60 yrs old. He became friends with a woman who tried to encourage him to stay on the spaceship and seek asylum . But his daughter came back and manipulated him into returning to their planet. He voluntarily went back and allowed himself to be Euthanized because it was their culture.
      Francis Schafer predicted what is happening in Sweden today. In the 1960s to 1988 Dr. Shaefer lectured extensively and wrote books on Ethics and the immorality of involuntary forced Euthanasia. He called this " The slippery slope " and predicted that as man devalued human life, we as a society would progress down the ethical slippery slope to legalized government forced involuntary Euthanasia. He said it would be sold to the public as " for the good of society". He lists the justifications used by governments as: Limited resources, high cost of medical care, limited land, water and natural resources , global warming and a judgement of " low quality of life " in differently abled people. In other words the governments believe the earth's resources should be saved for the ELITE, rich, beautiful, young, healthy perfect people. And others who do not fit that description should be slaves/ workers/ serfs serving the ruling class. The sick, weak, elderly, vulnerable are seen as disposable and are eliminated.
      I think it is really clear that these beliefs have a basis in Eugenics. Aldoph Hitler practiced these beliefs during WWII. He allowed horrific experiments to be done on humans that he considered to have " low quality of life". Hitler considered the elderly, differently abled, non Neuro typical, Down's Syndrome, and all Jewish people to be inferior. And he started a subtle propaganda campaign to convince the German people that these people needed to be eliminated " for the good of humanity". The holocaust was the result.
      As SARS-CoVid-2 virus and COVID-19 spread into a world pandemic I have become increasingly concerned as to the mixed messages leaders in certain countries are promoting. Anti mask propaganda, conspiracy theories, demonstrations, all serve to aid the spread. Seems like a convient way to reduce population and spending on Social Services.
      Too bad it's not a Star Trek Science fiction story that can be resolved in an one hour episode. Live long and prosper. I am sending love and hugs from Washington State, USA, Jeanne of In Loving Hands Counseling and ASMR.

    Hej Dr Jonh Cambell very interesting video i am swedish and live in sweden it is scary and very bad how sweden has handled Covid-19. What Sweden does they play with people's lives i think it is very good John that you say that the Swedish model is wrong because it is big time. I read now on my tv text tv a city north called Gällivare must shut down leisure and cultural facilities, because Gällivare has dangerous spread of covid-19. I look at my neighbors they talk to each other as usual, people lie and sunbathe near each other and so on this will end very badly unless Sweden takes hold of this disease and, put on the hard gloves this can't continue. John you are doing an incredibly good job have said it before but you are worth all the praise several times over take care have a safe and lovely day.
