I never got into FoW but I did at one point buy the hardback rulebook bundle and the open fire starter and that was a brilliant box and great rulebook. This new one seems so poor of content in comparison, nothing about it speaks to my otherwise easily persuaded addiction.
The biggest tragedy on this from my point of view is getting the kit. I'm in Sydney and you can't buy much of this over the counter. I've had the DAK book on back order since May but it never comes into the retailer so I can't list build my DAK forces. Very Sad
think 'monster maus' was a bit harsh - a lot of the community like historical accuracy - it is not about being up ones own rear end to know the differences. This is a show that caters to as many as possible and i like the detail and content. I do not like this starter set as it does not introduce enough and you have to buy a lot more before you have enough models to have a proper game. More like OPEN FIRE please!!!
Same system is used in their Tanks! game. It's nice and simple for that but not so sure about FoW which is supposed to be more complex. Maybe it's to suggest shots may bounce if at a more oblique angle, rather than fully side on or in the rear.
Well to be technical unless you are facing side Armour on at 90 degrees any angled shots on the side Armour would be like hitting the front head on, angled shots on the side Armour would act like sloped Armour increasing side armour thickness. It would be like hitting front armour straight on.
'Bailed out' believe it or not does not mean the crew bailed... it is the term they gave to either shocked troops, checking for maintenance, conducting field repairs to minor damage or getting out as the vehicle is on fire. This is a nice overview of the rules - the rule books define the terminology a bit better, but Yates is the grand master

its like 35$...
if im not mistaken this set comes with 1 Panzer IV and 1 Panzer III, not 2 IV's
Just wish this was as big as open fire.
First off i think there should be a penalty of +1 if you mount and shoot in the same move. Secondly you should be able to machinegun crew that bail.
Thank you for making a Kelly's Heroes reference!

I've never actually seen a retailer in Aus yet that just has FoW stuff in retail without me ordering in.

They now call 4 15mm tanks a starter set, after ty, the v4 hell, pvc, etc? It seems they want to see how deep they can bury themselves.
Man, I'm kind of disappointed with this set. I remember how awesome open fire was.
It's more of a basic way to learn the game, don't compare the two
Insert Generic Insult They can be compared because they are both starters
good job glad to see you beat that John. He is always doggen on you.
Those of you comparing Open Fire with this set: OF was 75USD, this is about 35USD.
WHERES DAVE? BRING BACK DAVE....
For Tank vs Tank I would just use Tanks by GF9.
I think I need this... Shut up and take my money!
Great stuff will you be doing a larger game?
Yep, we have more coming out in the next few weeks.
When is the bigger game coming out? :)
God i hate their system for choosing whether you are shooting the front or the side. I mean you can clearly see his side armor.

German tankers bail without the tank being on fire ?

Tactical depth errr...
This set is weak AF. The army boxes are a better deal.
