Really good to see more FoW coverage, especially loving the modular terrain. Will definitely join back stagers to see this now! I really think the current change to beasts of war will get the videos back to their roots, as this terrain demonstration shows what most gamers really need. Cheap, cheerful, and easy to store/transport.
GREAT table ideas! I completely agree with your mentality toward scenery in a tabletop wargame; it's a HUGE part of the gaming experience. I have the misfortune of playing with a group of guys whose idea of scenery is pieces of white paper with "hill" or "wall" or "house" written on them. :P
Dave is a funny guy, I dont know why but he is the kind of guy you just like when you see him. Down to earth and a love for flames of war and ww2 in general. He gets a +1 in my book.
We have a house rule in Deadzone that any model in base to base contact with a wall that, should the model stand be eble to look over, it can, and can be sighted in return.
Love Dr. Dave!!!! It just occurred to me... is he a proper Dr.? I thought it was always just a Dr. Who reference, but I think I get it fully now. Either way, the sets of Warren and Dave are what made me a loyal BoW fan!!!! Keep it up!
Infinity solved the crouching problem in its wiki questions: "How should the LOF drawn from those figures that have been sculpted in a crouching position? To trace the LOF of crouching figures, replace by the base troop figure of the same army (Fusiliers, Zhanshi, Line Kazaks, Ghulam, Alguacil, Morat Infantry / Shasvastii Seed Soldier), the one whose position is the more upright."
Regarding terrain I need something that sort of comes in a box(es) and I can put away. I'm looking on the Games Workshop site and they've got some stuff there, their Age of Sigmar terrain costs about £400 and looks like a cratered landscape - a bit more suited to WWI than WW2 but what I'm asking has anyone seen a product where you can just take the terrain ground blocks out in sections (say grassy sections) and then just add say houses, rivers, roads on top with something like the Battlefield in a box range ?
Because Deadzone actually changes the LoS to/from a model when it is placed on its side then it is correct a prone sniper probably would not see much. Ideally such a model would have a kneeling/standing version or your opponent would simple theft you assume such a stand with an acceptable proxy. Yep, 7TV is great. You can never have enough minions!
Line of Sight; page 77 "Teams square up against linear terrain can see and be seen through it." page 110 Snipers - Perfect Camouflage; "Sniper teams are Concealed and Gone to Ground, even when they shoot. They are also in Bulletproof Cover." I think that should remove all doubt of your Line of Sight for your sniper next time.
I would say a sniper should be able to break the true line of sight. As clearly a sniper will use terrain to hide and only poke out the scope and barrel.
love the tables bogging checks no big deal anyway only a 1 in 6 chance of bogging crossing a hedge i think the guy moaning thinks its bocage rules witch is a skill check so more likely to bog down with trained tanks etc but thats fun as it stops tanks dominating on certain missions. And makes it a more infantry based games so lots of sneaking and infantry assaults, and like you guys said you decide what it counts as before the game.
I'm sure your Hobby Lab will be great and good fun, but I just wanted to mention TheTerrainGuy. Check him out as well, he does a superb job of modeling and sharing with you in a step by step process of exactly how he does terrain and he discusses how to move and store it.
Amazing terrain, guys! It's always great to spend the saturday morning with such great company and with wargames, of course!

that table scaled to bolt action would be killer for dust warfare
Gents, absolutely golden scenery advice there. Thankyou so much! Great results which are easy to store and cheap. What more could you want.
Another great weekender, thanks guys
all of you guys in Beast of war keep it up with bolt action and flames of war!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome ideas... and a great weekend show
Outstanding work with the carpet tiles, gents! Going to have to steal that!
are you guys going to do a video on how to build flames of war buildings cause ive tried to build a few but they just don't look right.
Great video as always. Looking forward to the terrain videos!
Still watching the old Dr. Dave videos in 2022
"15 pounds of material"
'Boy that's heavy ... ow wait I'm stupid.'
Oh, and table looks great!
The snow went yellow? Were there a lot of huskies around?
Where do I find the video where they cover the making of the hedge rows
? What mats do they buy from where?
the astrodroid that allows you to regain shields is the r2-d2. it is unique so only 1 can be used. you cant put r2d2 on more then 1 x-wing.
Where did the trees come from? Great video thank you
Great ideas for the game tables!
I love to see a great looking game board, and cheap and modular makes it super. Not the same old layout every battle.
really neat ideas that they shared in the vid. makes me want to run out and make one!
For storage trouble try using polystyrene tiles, textured and about 2 feet squared. Great for modular terrain.

Great video lads, nice one

I think he's a surgeon.
Yes DAVE is back! I WANT more over 1hr episodes of FoW with Warren and Dave

Has anybody got a link to the video where they discuss the making of the frozen river?

The new terrain looks great. Now excuse me while I pop down to B&Q
definately using this. Nice one lads. :)
Where are the carpet tiles from and what did you use to paint them?
Greg Gillespie ebay :) their about 25 p each

Good to see doctor David back!
Quick question re: the gaming tables - what do you use for the green grass mats these days?
Which mat is underneath?
cant wait for more flames of war

Love Bolt Action!
How does one mash up bolt action rules with 40k?
i imagine you use the bolt action turn sequence to activate units.
I would say a sniper should be able to break the true line of sight. As clearly a sniper will use terrain to hide and only poke out the scope and barrel.
So has BoW completely stopped covering Games Workshop?
It's a complicated relationship.
love the tables

EPIC!!!!!
Rules. Rule are for the Obedience of Fools and a Guidance to the wise
With Warren on the line of site. Always apply common sense. Rules lawyers ruin games for everyone!
Guys let me get to sleep please !!!! It's 3 a.m here !

Mouldy crow!
10:03 Hands as big as his head!

Why re you talking about x-wing? ... come on....
Another great weekender, thanks guys
