I actually have made my own circuit for a redstone door, I made the door to my trial chamber base open! ... halfway... (There wasn't enough space for a double piston extender... Not that I knew how to build one.)
i once spent a while making and optimising a mc map and some guy made a short about it and got 3m views! i didnt get credit, but i dont care cos i made the map for it to get used, so yeeah thats a win i reckon
Redstone thieves are such scum and they also annoy me as a casual player who just wants to create a farm or door. Like Avogaado mentioned, the order in which they place blocks don't make any sense, often times making it hard to build in survival and I've caught a few editing out misplaced blocks too in the middle of the build. These people don't know how the thing they copied work at the most basic level. Thankfully for the most part, all branches of the redstone community often do a very good job at crediting others. Especially the door makers and technical minecrafters.

This is a bit of a scare for someone like me thinking to post my own mid bedrock edition designs someday, I wish there was a way to do something but it but, Cant do much, no one really cares but we redstoners strong(atleast in redstone)
honestly, whenever I see a redstone video with just music and no verbal instruction, i’m automatically suspicious. plus it’s just harder to follow bc there’s no actual explanation of why anything works, so you can’t troubleshoot if you make a mistake. all you can do is hope to copy that one build exactly, but you haven’t actually learned how to use redstone in any meaningful way
make it so you actually break the machine so they dont work and make the way to work them actually hidden in a video so the actual people that love it can fix it up easyly but the people that steal it can't as they most likely won't watch the video by saying "this is the part you'll need to replace" or something like that
