    Hello! Thank you for the entertaining review.
    We'll be sure to keep your feedback in mind for eventual future updates.
    We're happy you think the Framus is a "really really really really really nice pack"! :)
    Have a great day and many awesome adventures in the outdoors!

      Anything that measures up to MLD has to be good (baring in mind not used it but yes it looks very well made)! Please do put those loops lower down plus outside of pocket. If you use bungee and remove line loc that's a bonus lol
      Keep me posted as and when and if you make the minor changes. Thanks for watching and commenting great to see a company engage with customers and youtubers 😀

      If you ever want to send me anything please feel free 😉
      I don't get any better in my videos though... mad as a hatter and everything measured up to MLD 😉 😆

    Fully agree with you on that. The army time when you have to “repair” a brand new item before you wear it are gone. I think the companies that are hitting a certain segment of the market should actually listen to people like yourself before launching the product.
    I really liked a cool, pragmatic review of a product that is not 💯 ready to hit the market.

      You are very kind in your comment. Yes i think too often there's too many yes that's perfect send me more stuff people out there. Not knocking bonfus here as I don't know their marketing and certainly have never seen this with them! That i can say not like nortent vern for example and people still singing it's praises when it's flawed... bonfus added comment as I'd copied them in on a Instagram post and one chap commented and indeed emailed a photo of his fix basically threading bungee around front tbf looks half decent but for this money when I don't need it as it were I want 100%. Thanks again and hopefully bonfus add this fix as its simple to do.
      One last thing your thoughts on the comment here on hmg can bend stays i not tried i might but shouldn't be needed to bend something at least bonfus have correct shape lol

      @ if they’re smart enough to pickup the “apropos”, well, hopefully they’ll come up with a small “bent” into their egos and just listen to your comments.
      In the end of the day , they can simply sew the bloody things little by higher up and and sell the bloody thing 😂😂😂
      On the other hand, you may have been given a genial idea that will make them earn some good points on the market 😂😂😂
      Usually those ideas can end up with a massive discount and some …. appreciation🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

      @The-Highlands that would be nice lol
      Looking at the photo the kind gent on here sent me it looks different to mine and his is Year old and his the bungee at least goes from pocket around it looks like they changed it in last year not sure but if so it's for worse now. Could be wrong.... but he has bungee basically same place not lower but across from top of pocket which I'd have probably accepted but this one can't go across as pocket in way they arty farted it lol

    • @TonyHobbs
      @TonyHobbs  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The gent sent another photo
      The pocket is the same as mine
      He rigged bungee off that cord and around. Yeah I think they need to just redesign the bungee tie points on the outside as that's not great having to strap bungee around cord lol

    • @The-Highlands
      @The-Highlands 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ so you’re right saying that it must be redesigned 🤔
      I knew that it has a serious design flaw…
      It makes sense your observation.
      👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    If you are comparing the external attachment possibilities to the 70L Windrider, you should really look at Bonfus Maxus. Maxus is their load hauling backpack with lots of external loops and carry capacity. I bought my Framus 58 last spring and the lack of external loops was my main issue also. I still managed to put some elastic cord to the front of pack and carried my foam pad there. For the price there should not be many things that need mods but still I’m very satisfied with the pack.

      I just sent you a photo of my Framus setup.

      @TonyHobbs  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes i saw great photos thanks 😊 see my conversation with the Highland in this post. I looked at maxus maybe one day I will probably look at the zpacks arc haul 70
      The strapping on the franus should be similar to the MLD Exodus I show in the video which is similar to hmg
      It's a poor design on framus sadly and a minor tweak will make it great. The photo you sent shows it well and needing bungee on cord whilst works isn't ideal. If I had no packs I'd probably maybe pur up with it but I'd forever be cursing it lol better to wait and see if they change it. Thanks for the extra photo very helpful

    Like you say Tony, if it ain't 100% right for you at that price, then it just ain't right. And, for me I'd want to add hipbelt pockets, which boosts the price up even more.. that's pretty pricey (going off-topic a bit, but just today when on trail, I seriously asked myself if the premium priced gear I was carrying was actually worth it eg. is my Enan really worth £610 more than a Wild Country Zephyros 1? Or when I replace my fabulous ageing/damaged Western Mountaineering Hilite sleeping bag, is the PHD equivalent worth the extra £338 for a 92g weight saving?)
    Would you consider sending the Bonfus off to Lancashire Sports Repairs to ask them to sew on the extra tabs for you Tony? If the pack is as capacious and comfy as you suspect it might be, and the pack lasts you a good few years, maybe it's worth biting the bullet and go for it?
    I just like lid pockets though. Sure, you can use an internal cube/pod to hold lid pocket stuff, but that just seems unnecessarily inconvenient to me, and wouldn't save much if any weight I suspect? Lid pockets are just so damned useful IMHO, and although some might say that they encourage us to take more stuff, I don't take more stuff, but what little I do take is very well organised and easily accessible thanks to a decent lid with both internal and external pockets.
    If you return the Bonfus, could they just mod it for you and add the extra tabs?
    That's my tuppence worth for this evening.. Oh, except 6.5/10 for the belch.

    • @TonyHobbs
      @TonyHobbs  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I fully blame you for any belches 😆
      I sent it back. Interestingly bonfus watched and commented which was good. Yes it's worth the extra cost but some kit I'd use carefully etc
      And be seen in cheap stuff heaven forbid old chap 😆 great comment as always enjoy your meandering 😆

      Lid pockets are useful when there but I manage without it's like when there use pop this that the other in... without stuff goes in pack or pockets
      Yes exactly I'd need hip pockets and drink pockets too for this uggg 😆

      As you mentioned winter packs Tony, have you looked at ULA packs? I bought a ULA Catalyst 72L pack based on Chris Townsend's use of it on one of his US long distance walks several years ago. Its heavier than your ex-Bonfus at 1.3kg. I'm very pleased with mine & it carries a full winter camping load, including snowshoes, comfortably. It may not be ultralight for some, but I think 1.3kg is respectable for a comfortable workhorse. ULA do the smaller Ohm which looks good too. The ULA is very well made with good quality materials. At $330 it's less expensive than the Bonfus - it even incudes hipbelt pockets! From memory, there are loops that you might be able to utilise?

    You can bend the aluminium stays to follow the shape of your back or however you like them. (as one can on any rucksack with removable stays)..... If you don't like the way the top ends sit , just bend them back a little. 🙄

    • @TonyHobbs
      @TonyHobbs  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      They should come comfortable not digging in back and yes i get point they can be bent but goodness it's not easy and you'll not get them both exactly the same or flat to top easily like the bonfus ones . A little tweak their end might help plus if they watch my bonfus video and put foam insert so it's just above shoulder straps attachment poitopat top and made straps a bit wider it would be great quite likely. At the moment it's just ok.

    Your HMG pack might be the wrong size if the frame is digging in. It shouldn’t. On the HMG website is a photo of a 5’8” woman wearing a large pack and it looks a bit too big for her. I know that you measured your back but the measuring process is quite tricky. If I do it three times, I get three different results. The photos of models wearing different packs on the HMG website were much more helpful for me than guidance on how to measure my back. That and the waterproof vertical seams are why I went for an HMG pack rather than an Atom Pack, even though my Atom is the most comfortable pack I’ve ever owned.
    By the way, Ultralight Outdoor Gear have started selling HMG products. I’ve ordered a pod and some straps for the front buckles and they are arriving on Tuesday allegedly. If only they’d been selling HMG stuff when I bought my Southwest 55! I saved £10 but was it worth the hassle of importing from abroad and, too make matters worse, FedEx don’t forget the customs charges, unlike USPS.

      I've got a video on here measuring my back. I used to have medium long ago and they were always to short. My back is 20- 21 ish inches long large on others is fine. You probably saw vid on hmg pack last week plus interesting comments as I'm not alone. The poles you can see in this video on hmg are different shape diggy in shape at top and straps are too narrow on hmg. Check Richard's comment and his video on that video in comments.

      @@TonyHobbs It looks like it does not have the sturdiness to support anything above 10 kilograms. It's also a black hole, meaning you can't find any gear inside in low light.

    • @TonyHobbs
      @TonyHobbs  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @yuriklaver4639 you will learn more about packs and frameless packs and packing correctly in due course I'd suggest this would easily carry 12kg and highly likely it would be ok at 15kg with this layout and support. Please feel free to check my MLD Exodus packing video that will help in your research .

      @yuriklaver4639 regarding finding things I'd suggest checking how to pack. Sleeping stuff at bottom because you don't need it until inside tent tarp and heavy stuff by back higher up and food or day items at top easy to find 😀

      @@TonyHobbs I use an Ortlieb rack-pack 50 liters, strapped onto a vintage Fjallraven external frame. The rack-pack loads from the top to bottom, making it MUCH more easy to load and unload. It's 100% waterproof as well. There are several videos on my channel where you can watch the complete set-up.
