  • There's nothing exciting about the factory exhaust. I decided to swap it out for a little more rumble and let the GC breathe a little better.

    Just ordered the Mach Force-xp cat-back--super excited to have that come in. Also have the Magnum FORCE CAI from AFE and can attest to it adding a lot of throaty noise to the acceleration. Definitely recommend if you're thinking about a CAI from the same company!

      Jared George That’s good to know! I’ve been thinking about it, and if I did, I’d definitely want to go with the AFE (for no reason other than continuity). The only reason I haven’t done a CAI yet is because I still plan on supercharging the GC, so I’d rather put that money towards the kit instead of a CAI. That probably won’t happen until next year, but I won’t be happy with the car until I do it lol

    I had a 2011 escape v6. When I tell you I always heard that car when I hit the gas. The engine was loud as hell. I just got a 2015 jeep grand Cherokee limited. This car is quiet. QUIET. So I def wanna do something like this to make it so I hear the car when I hit the gas.

    Just installed mine this past weekend. Clamps are tightened down all the way and specifically the clamp for the tip still has some play in it. Like i could move the tip in and out by hand with a little force. Also leak a bit. Any ideas or solutions?

  • @truthtimetv4575

    Nice video good tips i had no idea about the hangers very weird. I swear these things are all so expensive i feel like this exhaust should be $500 especially with the whole clamp adjust system made for manufacture variance. . oh well goals i guess lol. Sounds great! This and the corsa are the only ones that have true equal length primary pipes to create the gurgly v6 nissan-esque noise which is amazing. What i cannot stand is idiots that come around " get a v8 bro" etc like this is what it is and its great!

    • @dereksmith2929
      @dereksmith2929  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I totally agree that this stuff is a bit overpriced. Probably could have a local shop do an exhaust for cheaper. However, I like the satisfaction of doing it myself so I'm ok paying a little more for something that I can bolt on in my driveway lol. Yeah, I love the "shoulda got a V8" guys lol. If i needed a V8, I would've bought one. This GC was replacing a car and truck, so I wanted the best of both world's. I can still pull my boat (which is what I used my truck for). I do alot of driving, and with 26 mpg, I'm not dying at the pump. The V6 has enough power to do what I need it to. I just want to build it up enough to surprise anyone that sleeps on it lmao

    • @dereksmith2929
      @dereksmith2929  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha it does sound a little rowdy 😂 I’m considering replacing the muffler on this system with just some exhaust pipe. After having it on for a few months now, I like how it sounds, but wish it was a smidge louder. Sounds real good when accelerating tho

  • @brentjrush4
    @brentjrush4 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I was curious if when you had open pipes before the muffler did it throw any engine codes due to O2 sensors or anything else?

    • @dereksmith2929
      @dereksmith2929  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn't have any codes pop up, but I only started and ran the it like that for the short period in the video. I didn't remove any 02 sensors, so I wouldn't think it'd be an issue.
      I hacked the exhaust off my old 07 Ram right after the cat and it never threw a code. As long as any changes happen after the sensor, it should be alright.

    • @dereksmith2929
      @dereksmith2929  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I still like it. It’s mild enough that it’s not too loud driving around town, but it also gets people attention if I accelerate hard. I do a lot of highway driving and it doesn’t drone or create a lot of noise in the cabin

  • @marciomvp9458

    I decided to go a bit quieter (just a hair louder than stock) and very low budget. I put Vibrant in the back and kept mid-muffler. Comparison video: th-cam.com/video/qHvfon-lPiY/w-d-xo.html

    Did you have any trouble with the spring loaded 13mm bolts?

    • @dereksmith2929
      @dereksmith2929  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope. I hit all the bolts with some penetrating oil just because exhaust bolts can be funny sometimes, but everything came apart easily with hand tools. I didn’t need an impact or heat or anything.

    • @dereksmith2929
      @dereksmith2929  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m pretty happy with it. From inside, it’s fairly quiet. My tires give off more road noise than the exhaust. On the highway, there’s really no drone. I’ve thought about taking the muffler off to get a little more noise and rumble, but for a daily driver, it works really well.
