thats the worst. she was a definite narcissist. probably thought she could do anything but if you're bad at something, you're bad. if you don't want to invest the time in acting classes and it doesn't exactly "come naturally" cut your losses, try your hand at something else. don't pester your husband to get you in. it was obviously pressuring him and embarassing for him, while he's trying to focus on snl or newsradio and his wife keeps saying "so... did you get that opening for me" when she's actually dogshit at acting.

She was a loser. A junkie and a failure who tried to coattail her own husband because he had the gall to make something of himself. It's a shame that he couldn't see how much of a burden she was, and jumped ship before such a tragedy.
And I don't call people "loser" very easily. I'm usually very lenient that way, but she was absolutely a LOSER and she hated losing alone so she made sure her husband lost his life and her kids lost both their parents at the same time...What great mothering.
Choose your wives and husbands carefully. I find it hard to believe Phil didn't see any signs that his wife was batshit crazy. Also, having children with drug addicted narcissists hardly ever turns out rosey.

He was blinded by her beauty. He liked how she looked on his arm. She was jealous of his success. She couldn’t make it as an actress and was a stay at home mom while he worked hard. I feel like he could have to tried to balance his success and family which I can only imagine would be difficult to do but not impossible. He did not deserve to have his life taken from him, especially by his jealous trophy 🏆 wife.

When you’re married to someone who has substance abuse and mental health issues plus jealousy it can be difficult to be married to them, but no doubt that she stole both of their lives lucky that the kids are alive safe but I feel so bad for them losing their parents , Rest in Peace Phil Hartman

The testimonies in this documentary aside, there is no shortage of corroborating testimony from those who knew the couple who speak to this woman's lunacy. She was mediocre in looks; mediocre in acting talent; and, after using Hartman's money to indulge in substances for long enough, she no doubt realized that she'd plateaued, murdered him, then offed herself. So stop being a fucking idiot.
Poor Phil he couldnt just do the stern interview alone , she had to come. Jealousy & ego is a lethal combination.

Based on other interviews I've seen with the 2nd wife, I got the feeling she was always trying to make sure she stayed close to Phil. His relationship with her appeared to be a definite threat.
I think i read in interview with 2nd wife after his death she said they still talked a bit. They divorced as friends he was still in contact with her as he going thru problems with brynn. Brynn probably fueled by drug use must have been jealous of that. And if phil seems more attached to work more and not giving her enough attention esp if she had put her career on hold to be with the kids yeh that is disaster. Hopefully they both at peace now on other side and made amends i guess or she has asked for forgiveness from the almighty. Mean its love that went wrong.

Chris Farley, the most heart-wrenching thing about his death is that it could have been avoided, he wasn't alone when he O.D.

I love how Phil was really building her up on the Howard Stern show. He wanted good things for her. He wanted her to be happy. It wasn’t his fault that it wasn’t working out. He seemed to really love her though :(

Brynn says on the Howard Stern interview that she never wanted to meet Phil’s second wife as Phil told her that they were soul mates, thus making Brynn jealous and wrote a hate filled vitriol letter to her to stay away from Phil , herself & her son, when all she did was send a congratulations card on the birth of their son.

Well just playing advocate of the devil here, but she didn't just send a congratulations card. She said "I can't wait to be this child's auntie, and I would love to babysit any time." Mingle that with a jealous wife when the card clearly indicates the ex wife wants to be involved in their lives, her reaction isn't that out of left field.

Lisa then spoke to Phil on the phone and said “Do you have any idea who you’re married to? And Phil simply responded with “You should of seen the letter Brynn wanted to send you”. Lisa then hung up on Phil & they didn’t correspond for years afterwards.

Ego , jealousy & drugs are a lethal combination as demonstrated here. Sounds like brynn was using her marriage to phil as a leg up to her own fame. She also was very pretty but she was boozing drugging & it aged her a lot. Which also probably freaked her out , that her dreams of being famous were done. I think that's what made her snap. I'm sure she was so jealous of Phil's career that was a factor. Its very sad she was unable to appreciate what she did have a husband that made a lot of money so she did not have to work & could buy whatever she wanted a beautiful home & 2 beautiful kids. After that letter she wrote to Phil's ex wife who merely sent them a lovely congrats card about their childs birth should have been a huge red flag to phil.

This is one of the worst fates that could befall on anyone.

The day Phil Hartman died, I was on a moving truck heading to Detroit to deliver some furniture. The driver had Howard Stern's show on and Howard kept plugging his show on E!, pointing out that he had interviewed both of them and that they were re-running the episode that night. He also used shotgun blast sound effects in the background several times as he talked about Hartman's death.

I love Phil Hartman and his was so talented and gifted as an actor, but personally he had issues. Why marry a woman and give vows, but then after that just grow distant and divorce them? No one's perfect, but Phil should've gotten some help about that. Other than Brynn being jealous of his career, I think she realized why he was divorced twice before her. And she wont having him up and leave her with 2 kids. No one else was about get her cash cow. This is just another example of why you gotta be careful about how you treat people and who you marry.

She needed 2 understand that her husband, could not make someone hire her 4 roles in Hollywood. Had it been me, I would've been happy as a housewife & a mother. Thatz the best legacy one could ever leave.

The final segment isn’t on YT, but it is mentioned that after she shot Phil, she went to a friend’s house who took the gun away from her. They go back to her house together and she locks herself in the bedroom and shoots herself. Since her friend took her gun, where did she get the 2nd gun? Nothing was mentioned about Phil having his own gun, so I don’t think it was his.
It was mentioned in the full ABC special that they both had guns which they both kept in a safe. She must have retrieved his gun from the safe to commit suicide.
I think we could have broken this down into at least 3 more parts
i know, first hand, mixing zoloft with ANY substance makes you incredibly emotionally unstable. I too was taking it in the early 90's. Back then I partied, and when i mixed it with alcohol and/or cocaine, I too became a crazy person. I was also married to an emotionally unavailable man. Mix that with my codependent neediness, and the same could have happened to me. I'm not excusing her behavior, however, I understand all too well her mental state was not rational whatsoever. Everyone who knew them said she was a loving wife and mother. Don't mix alcohol with antidepressants. Zoloft is an EVIL drug.
I was on the smallest dose possible about five years ago (also drinking, using weed and cocaine (only did all that for a year and a half...not a lot either, wasn’t for me)) and even without the other drugs I felt INSANE. I was actually acting batshit insane and I’m still troubled by it. Had trouble driving and one night I rocked on the ground in a hunched position for four hours staring at nothing. I’ve never been on anything since. Stopped all recreational drugs and I only drink every once in a while due to fitness/mental health reasons. Relatively straight edge now and it helps.
There are drugs everywhere, it's the people who make that choice.

There's obviously no way Phil could've ever been all that she needed, bc people aren't meant to be that to one another, but it sure did bug me hearing, I can't remember they guy's name, but he talks about "reassuring her" that Phil's going off, not spending time with the kids, playing with his toys was..."normal". Ok perhaps her neediness fueled his need to escape (his modus operandi sounds like), but how can anyone say that's "normal"; neither of them it appears knew what the word means in terms of relationship.

Phil Hartmann was multi talented and had a great career in tv, movies, and commercials. Brynn was very beautiful but had almost no acting talent. A few one line bit parts in low budget movies. He should have told her 'you're not gonna make it in this business' instead of promising her a career. I liked watching Phil with all with his crazy inventive characters. RIP Phil and Brynn

But from her perspective he promised her that if she just moved out to L.A. with him he would get her career moving & they'd have this great life together. In reality she ended up being a housewife/mother while the sitcom role he promised her on The Phil Hartman show went down the toilet & he focused on his career. Obviously he was a great guy who tried his best to help her but she just didn't have "it". Really sucks all around, especially for the kids.
