    I was 14 when Phil Hartman was murdered, and to this day his death has been the most difficult for me to take as a fan. As much as I loved Chris Farley, he died from his own vices. Phil, on the other hand, was shot in the face while asleep, by a jealous, drug-induced wife.
    If you want a good laugh, check out his small role as a prison tour guide on Alcatraz in So I married an Axe Murderer (skip to 1:15 if you're pressed for time).

    He always seemed depressed or something offscreen. Like emotionally muted & unhappy but not vocal about it. Would probably be diagnosed with something if he was alive today. Some people are just unhappy in relationships & do better solo. Seems like that was him.

    • @msr1116
      @msr1116 4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      I've read accounts of Phil being in love with love who went into emotional withdrawal after the initial rush of a new relationship wore off. I had a brother in law with at least two long term partners walk out on him and never look back because he one day just shut down. Seems that Phil wanted companionship but not able or willing to truly connect with an adult woman, which makes me wonder how he was as a father---if he bonded with his kids. Regarding the other commentors skewering his wife---a mentally healthy woman does not abuse drugs then commit a murder suicide. Infinitely more men than women flip out like she did, making deadly violence from a woman all the more shocking. It looks to me like two troubled people found each other at the wrong time and, over time, brought out the worst in each other with tragic results.

    If you are married to a person will mental illness then get into your car and disappear. Serious mental health problems of your spouse will, not can, destroy your life. Mental health impacts the family, children and friends of the mentally ill. Doctors won’t tell you that your spouse is dangerous. Most mental illness has an onset age of the middle to late twenties.
    So you married the spouse before the illness struck. This was my case with my x wife. Even my lawyer said, “Well you married her.” What he didn’t understand was that the illness came after the marriage. Her behavior changed with the onset of the disease. My in-laws blamed me for her illness but now realize that it was a disease. This illness was passed onto my son who attacked me in my home. So the spouses get blamed or harmed because of the disease. It is a trap you must escape and there is no good outcome. Doctors won’t warn you because of doctor patient privilege laws. Get into you car and disappear ASAP.
