Gameplay is top tier as usual but it shows that the game isn't built to let you be as creative as you can be in other games.
Yeah combat system in this game is pretty shallow. Good vid tho.
This game focuses more on exploration which is what a real TR game is.
@@shishaceo5204 As much as I appreciate the more exploratory nature they went with, it feels odd to have the most amount of combat options to date with the least amount of actual combat.
It's almost impossible to do a "real" stealth playthrough. You are forced to slaughter literally everyone in almost all the scenes with enemies. It's really annoying.
Try the bow. Really helps with creativity.
You should get these developers to sponsor you, dude! If nothing else, this is a great advertisement for the game.

One of my favorite levels in the game. Perfect stealth section. In my opinion, stealth is to be used when you're outgunned and outnumbered. Here, you get you weapons taken away and you're left only with a knife, meaning a frontal assault and open combat just isn't an option.
The night sky, the shadows, the dense jungle, the introduction of fear arrows and thermal-detection enemies, it's so much fun. Shame the stages aren't much bigger. But the verticality and brutal takedowns make up for it.
12:20 I wouldn't want to be that guy who literally sees the shadow of their own death.

What I'm seeing here is that Shadow of the Tomb Raider is basically the best Predator video game we could ever hope for.

I love the detail of her hair being let down when you cover yourself in the mud.
Sadly, it's just for that scene, but it is a really neat detail that they didn't have to do. That is Eidos Montreal showing through if you ask me.
The arrow to helmet to disarm + arrow to leg + arrow to head combo is creative and smoothly executed. Also love how you set up the traps strategically. Well done!!

I got this right off. I guess cuz I'm old enough to have watched Looney Toons on Saturday when we only had 13 channels.
Videos like this highlight the game's weakness. That enemies move in specific patterns and their behavior and blindspots are predictable and video game-y.

the fact that the stealth in sotTR plays better than valhalla even tho its not a stealth game it just has optional stealth in certain situations just makes me feel like ubisoft straight up abandoned stealth for assassins creed
I haven’t bought a tomb raider game in a long time. I only had one and didn’t like how hard the obstacles were. Took me 5-20 minutes to get past one obstacle. I like fighting enemies, not figuring which obstacle is going to hit me.

Every time I see an intricate stealth game like this, I can't help but wish there was a really good next gen 3rd person Predator game. We need one so bad. Jumping around vantage points like Assassin's Creed style and just enjoying the high tech equipment and hunting collecting trophies, as well as classic Predator fear tactics. Sigh.....one can only dream.

I've made one longer stealth video on Origins and it's a chore. There's not much variety in the animations, so it's difficult to make a fast and smooth video. Took me 60 hours to make a 12 min video. Don't think it's worth it. There are games more suitable. But do check it out!
AC is dead at this point. It's lost its identity. They are trying to turn it into a RPG with "choices" Poor mans Witcher.

I love the deadpan "You're shitting me" when one baddies sees his friend die, then receives a flying knife to the face as well.
I would like to point out that in intro sequence, unless she's packing some kind of alien type of muscle, Lara, would be unable, physically, to pull the moves that the model presented does.
It's such a disservice when you see game developers go exactly, in the wrong direction, in order to satisfy the few and yelling.
By this age, Lara would've known several types of martial arts that could disable the baddie with ease...
