    Longtime Fuji shooter here. I feel that this is one of the key mistakes that new Fuji shooters make, especially with cameras with the older smaller batteries, and that is to keep the camera on all the time. Fuji cameras start incredibly fast (compared to say a Sony or Hasselblad), which means that if you flick the camera on when you see something, by the time you have the camera up to your face, the camera is pretty much ready to shoot. I turn the camera on and off all the time and i find that it makes the battery last a lot longer than if I just leave it on all the time (even with the screen off).

    I have a couple of X-E1s - one I have owned from new. Basically a lighter build of the X-Pro1, with the same sensor but has an electronic viewfinder. I still use them for street in bright conditions, often with fast, manual focus primes. If you can work around the slow autofocus they are very capable cameras!

    Man, thanks for this video. I love the X-Pro series so much. I started my street photography journey in 2016 with the X-Pro 2, then went all in on Leica cameras, eventually reaching an M10-R and three Summicron lenses (28mm, 35mm, and 50mm) set up. Earlier this year, I decided to sell everything and get an X-Pro 3 with two primes instead. No regrets (so far ^_^) !

    I loved my X-Pro1` and eventually had a couple of X-Pro 2 bodies but I kept the 1 as well. All my Fuji stuff was traded 14 months ago when I got the Leica Q3 - which is brilliant - and all I need now.

    I used to set the X-Pro 1 to manual focus then use the AE-L/AF-L button for auto focus. This allowed me to zone focus when I couldn't rely on on auto focus. It was also helpful with getting the shot when there were lots of moving parts. It's like using my M10 only with the option of auto focus. :P

    Interesting that I have my focus on continuous. Now I wonder if I'm doing it wrong.
    Fun to contemplate the X-Pro1. I've been thinking about that *and* the X-T3, even though I've got an X-T5. What is wrong with me?

    1:15 the EVF is pretty bad, the screen is actually among the best ones Fuji produced, 1.23M dots compared to 460k on the X-E1, and then 1.04 M on the X-E2...

    The era around that camera is so good. X-Pro1, X-E1, M240, GM1, etc. They all had these great sensors, colors, handling, size, etc. Whenever I want to try new kit just for fun, I head straight to 2012 through 2014.
    X-Pro2 and X-E3 are still like peak Fuji street kit, imo. All the good, none of the missteps from subsequent models.
    Nice shots as always ✌

      So slow though. I owned three of those four camera's you list (not the GM1). Glad I got out of it and figured a modern camera with a Leica M lens can achieve the same amount of fun for me.

    • @SourPlanet
      @SourPlanet หลายเดือนก่อน

      @kilianhrkm I always hear that, but I don't get it. I recently shot street in NYC with a Fuji x-e1 using a manual lens. I missed zero shots due to camera speed. My daily driver is the M240. Again, around NYC. Very frantic environment. Zero shots missed to camera "slowness." It's literally instantaneous?

    I've owned several Fuji cameras, the X-Pro 2 paired with an 18mm being one of my favourite setups. I wanted to know if I'd be happy with that FOV before heading in the direction of a Q2. Needless to say, I was, and now own (it was gifted to me) a Leica Q2. I still miss the X-Pro2 and the 35mm F1.4 partnership - my all time favourite pairing.

  • @mikafoxx2717

    I'll be honest, if you want to take good photos grab something like a 6D and a 40mm 2.8 and you've got a super sharp 43mm true normal, and a super low light beast. Use the center focus point and recompose.. it'll deliver results. I use fancier cameras these days but that cheap combo could do 90% of what great photos I take today could do.

    hello guys, all the commenters here. I came from another side of the earth. I just wonder and very interest on, why you guys (especially people in this video, I dunno where is it, europe perhaps?) always bring cup of coffee on your activity, in your hand. you walk with coffee in your hand in front of your chest/belly. Is coffee that really necessary in your activities? why you bring it in your hand? why not put it on the tumblr or something, and then keep it up in your backpack. because, that coffee can spoil everywhere if you bring with hand, right? or, bring coffee in your hand is some kind of gesture cultural or unwritten rule for your morning activities. thanks for answering my very not important question. lol.

      It’s not bad at all but it depends on what you’re shooting. Sometimes you can miss the next shot if you’re too worried about checking the last shot you took. I usually just check one shot when I get to a new location/change lots of settings just to make sure exposure is fine and then never check photos until I’m “done” shooting.
