  • In this video, join us Americans as we try traditional Norwegian food! I was lucky enough to meet up with my friend Silvia of Heart My Backpack who is American/Norwegian and lives in northern Norway. She helps me learn what to eat in Oslo through our own Oslo food tour.
Growing up with a Norwegian mother, Silvia grew up with food that other Americans may not have ever heard of! I certainly didn't know about many of these foods and am glad I have had the chance to try them now.
Thank you, Silvia, for being a GREAT food guide :)

Glad you liked some of our Norwegian food! Pålegg is kind of a stock of words, 'legge på' means putting on so I guess we just did it the simplest way possible and created the word Pålegg for any type of food you are 'putting on'

UTZ isn't an Amedrican firm it is a certification of sustainable farming, meaning the product is made by ingredients from such farms.

In Latin America we call "chicharron" to the skin of the pig. I didn't know Norwegians eat too, apparently only Americans don't. It's a delicatessen.

Kaviar is much better when used on boiled hen eggs... so bread, sliced hardboiled eggs and kaviar on top...
