The display has fixed data points on this one - you won't be able to change anything, but there are keyboards around the same price point that do have customizable displays - want a few options?
I’m kinda nervous about doing the tape mod because of this keyboard’s battery, but I’ve read some of the comments that say that it is safe. However I am wondering if it will be safe long term? or do I have to remove it after some time? I will be using mtx masking tape for the mod. Thank you.
hi! You won't have to worry about the camera (it's only in the event that the battery heats up so much that it'll burn the tape, which has never happened), but if you are, you can add a layer of electrical tape on the camera to segregate it from the painters tape.
It came out so well. They sound so good after the tape mod. I also replaced the stock switches with akko piano pro v3 the one with the normal stem and it sounded really good it had a deep thocky sound. Thank you
Was the solution to making the space bar sound way better the bending or the grease? Considering getting this over the Keychron V1 Max for a hot swappable bluetooth keeb under $100
I dont know why but my unit came with south facing LEDs.. also the switches were lubed with very thin lube like krytox 105 .. i thought it wasnt applied or it was dried up so i relubed them with g lube.. later on i realised my mistake that they were prelubed..
@@keebtunes yes they did.. infact now it sound all marble like.. i upgraded from a cheap eyoosoo keyboard to this.. and I'm loving it so much.. it's made like a brick..
Might be old now but since this keyboard is a year old, do you think its still worth getting? Also for gaming I don’t know if I should pick the red switch or the speed silver switches, they are the same price for me.
hi there! I think now that it's a year old, if you can get it for under 60, it'll still be a good deal. Nowadays, you can get other really GREAT boards for around the 90 dollar price range, like the Leobog Hi75
I have 1 question. won't the tape mod cause fire hazard. though my keyboard (M75) came with thin pe foam between silicone layer and pcb. would it prevent conductivity / fire hazard.. lmao these days they say it have fire hazard but they themselves put foam inside the keyboard which is also highly flammable, even more flammable than painters tape. just wondering....
it doesn't - most tape (except copper foil tape and some acrylic tape) are not conductive and will not create any sparks. The only time that it may conduct electricity and ruin your pcb would be if it got wet, but that would also apply to you getting water on the PCB as well. Most PCB are very low power and won't actually cause a fire hazard to begin with, so you really don't have much to worry about. Being flammable doesn't mean that it is conductive either. In all of my years doing this, I've never experienced any issues with the keyboards. The issue with painters tape, comes from the fact that if you do remove it in the future, it's possible, but highly unlikely, that you may rip a socket off (solder is stronger than tape, so you'd have to be really reckless), but that's a possibility.
@@keebtunes thank you for replying.. I just did my stabilizers and tuned and tape modded them.. holy shit this keyboard turned awesome.. i lubed my brown switches legs converting it to a linear since me no have no extra money for new switches.. but still they are sounding awesome.. and for the stabs i did holee mod and placed tissue beneath the stabs to muffle sound.. and they turned great!!
I need less details on marginal stuff like "keycap thickness", and more relevant details about things that actually matter. What's the polling rate? What's the battery duration with RGB on?
Wow I really appreciate the feedback. I think sometimes I tend to look at keyboards from an enthusiast lens rather than from a user's perspective. I'll have to incorporate this into my reviews moving forward. Unfortunately, I gave this keyboard to a family member and can't test it anymore, but can say that the battery cap at 3750mah converts to 200 hours on 2.4ghz lights off, or around 2 days with lights on. Bluetooth will last 5 days or so on bluetooth with RGB on low, 2-3 weeks with RGB off, usage varies. Unable to test polling without the keyboard, so I apologize for that.
@@keebtunes No problem. I completely understand the hobbyist's enthusiasm over the little details. In my opinion, you just need to cover all the important information, before you get lost into those details. It's nice to know about switch lubrication and to hear a sound test...but if I can't even know something super basic (like how long the battery is going to last), then that kinda defeats the whole purpose of listening to the review in the first place. Best of luck with your channel.
I completely understand where you're coming from! This is what matters to people too right? This is great feedback coming out of my first year doing this on YT, so highly appreciated!! You'll definitely see this incorporated in my videos moving forward.
@@keebtunes Hey! It's me again. I ended up getting this keybaord (the grey version), and I am enjoying it so far. I think the only minor flaw of the m75, is that it could have slightly better battery life. Do you think it's possible to just swap the battery for a more powerful one? Let's say 4000mAh? And if IF it is possible, do you think the little screen display would still correctly keep track of the battery percentage...or would it then become inaccurate, because it was originally calibrated for a weaker battery?
yo what's up man! Glad to see you liked it, and yea you can swap it out. You can probably find a battery to fit the socket on Aliexpress. Might be easiest to type in "keyboard battery 5000mAh" or something like that. You'll have to compare the port with the socket though to make sure it's the right one. I don't have this board anymore, so I can't look into it for you, but that's what I'd do. And yea, the screen should be able to read the new capacity just fine since they need to have a current meter to read the battery's discharge rate. But don't quote me on this completely, it's not something I've tested on this screen.
Hey, I'm new to the mechanical keyboard world, i was about to order logitech keyboard but I found this rabbit hole lol xD... I have a question, how often do you have to charge it? Does it last long? Cause with logitech it's a AAA battery, so I dont have to to think about it u know.... anw, great video!!
Welcome to the rabbit hole! There are so many wonderful custom boards out there that this one is but a drop in the bucket. Tbh, Logitech boards are kind of...mid imo, I used to own a few back when they were one of the free available options but they are nowhere near as good as their mice. Anyways, if you keep the RGB at a minimum, you can get 2-3 weeks without a charge. It won't last as long as AAA but you won't need to replace and you can always just plug in instead of having to hunt down new batteries.
@@keebtunes Thank you so much for the detailed answer!! And wow, 2-3 weeks, that's good enough! I'm not planning to use that much RGB anyway lol, one more question, can you use laptop USB-C charger to charge it?
@adaninurs yes you can - at least from what I can recall! It comes with cables too though, so I'm you could just use it from your laptop to keyboard instead? It'll be faster for gaming
@@keebtunesaah yeah, you're right! But I'm trying not to add more cables tbh haha...so if there's gonna be a cable anyway, I might just embrace it and buy the wired version lol.... do you have any recommendations for budget wired mechanical keyboard? Royal Kludge or other brand?
Guys, help me. Am I the only one to miss the backlight on the key switches?? Like I don't need much, but once it gets a little bit dark, the keyboard is just usable only for touch typing
If you want true backlighting then you'll need some shine through keycaps. If you already own this board, you can buy a set of shine through keycaps and swap them out. Touch typing is super useful skill to have anyways.
this one is good, and even better if you add tape...but you should check out the Yunzii B75...it's the best sounding board in its category, for 65 bucks!
This is my first ever keyboard that I recently got as a gift! I was wanting to tape mod but wasn’t sure since I could because of the battery that I believe it has. Since I saw you tape mod yours, is it safe for me to do so? (Sorry if this is a dumb question I’m a noob)
Gotta say i followed the guide to a TEA and im in absolute LOVE with the THOCKYNESS just adding the moleskin does and thats the only mod i did... HOWEVER... jesus christ is this thing a pain to take apart. I dont like the fact that you have to pry the top cover over. Taking mine off was neigh impossible and ended up (luckily) scratching and denting some areas you cant see. Another thing I messed up immediately lmao ... BE CAREFUL WITH THE LITTLE LED DISPLAY!!!! DO some research on what to use to clean it off, I smudged mine and took a microfiber cloth with rubbing alcohol to it... yeah now the display is scratched like crazy. The moleskin method was a lil annoying when it came to cutting in small places def have an exacto knife around to use carefully where the stuff plugs into and the 2 hole areas. Other than that I'd highly recommend this keyboard! It is a little small and anyone who isn't used to the rising key style keyboard will have to get used to it! 100% worth the purchase :D
i freaking love this! I'm a huge fan of less is more than overloading a keyboard with junk! I REALLY should've mentioned that it's not easy taking it apart, even with a tool...this is one of the few keyboards where I felt like I had to mention how to open the damn thing because of how stiff it is. I love your advice on the LED display though...although I'd always assume rubbing alcohol can erode the surfaces of certain screens, I still thought it would've been safe. And lastly, cutting moleskin IS annoying, and it's much easier to do on a gasket mount than say, a tray mount, where you'd have to account for standoff holes and all of that! I'm so glad you tried out my mod though! Did you enjoy the stab sounds? I'd like to add little snippets from your comments into my description as helpful tips, if you don't mind. Are you okay with that?
@@keebtunes I dont mind at all! And as someone who works in tech i assumed it was gonna be a pain to open lmao. Not sure what to use for cleaning the surface though and I def agree that alcohol isn't a good choice as I quickly realized the glass has some sort of material over it. Im LOVING how it sounds and the recommendation of moleskin is such a good idea tbh. The one you link leaves you with so much more material to do the same with other keyboard if you want as well.
Awesome! I've been using the same roll of moleskin multiple times now 😂. It's my go to for when I know the PCB is easy to wrap. I used to use it when I was in the Marines for blisters, so it thought it would be a good idea..I work on HR now 😶 I think I'm the only one on YT that uses it.
I tape modded this keyboard recently, and after doing so, everything sounded great and worked, but my spacebar now sounds like its rubbing against something, which I know it was not like that before I tape modded it. Does anyone know what went wrong?
Can you check to see if it's rubbing against the edge of the frame? If so, you can try pushing it up a little bit. If not, maybe you can shoot me a video + sound and I can see what may be causing it. But usually, it's something minor. The tape mod wouldn't have done anything to it, unless the tape protrudes past the pcb edges and makes the sandwich sit unevenly, causing the keycaps to touch the frame.
Think it might be the tape sticking out because I can't seem to get the frame to push up, and now that I look at it some of the other keys on the edge of the keyboard have a very small rubbing sound. I'll take a look at it when I can, thanks!
try to cut the tape less than the perimeter of the pcb if you can - this will avoid it pushing against anything and putting the sandwich out of place than it usually is.
The program is definitely hit or miss, but I found the most success with it when you really just go to town on the keyboard when it's recording...I spam all fingers as fast as possible for 10 seconds, and that usually does it for me. Unfortunately, I don't have this keyboard anymore as I gave it away as a gift, but I can do some research and see if this info is out there anywhere
Hi guys, I have a question for all the owners of the M75 - I have a Roccat kb which has an Easyshift function which uses the capslock as a modifier key to enable a secondary function for any other key that is combined with it. Is that something I could set up in the RK software? For example - my A key has a secondary function assigned to it which is activated when I press [Caps Lock + A] - Is that something I could do in the RK software? Especially since QMK/VIA are not usable with this keyboard, this is a make-or-break function for me. Someone please clarify! Much appreciated.
Hi there! Based on my experience with the RK software, I don't recall this being possible, and unfortunately since it doesn't work with QMK, I don't believe that this is something that you can do with this board.
I really like th more thocky sound but it still sounds too clicky for me and i cant do that anyway as a beginner... Guess i need to buy another 75 keyboard.. but idk which to buy really. I want a quiet and thocky sounding one. Out of the box for under 100€.. ?
@keebtunes hmm I'll now try the M75 with brown and red switches and see which I like better as I never had a mechanical keyboard before. I can buy an aula or other keyboard after it :D
Wow that's a fantastic freaking deal! Yea south facing won't matter at all if there's no interference, and I think their caps won't have that problem. Thank you for watching!
They're both almost identical, including the body and PCB itself, so you're not going to take much of a hit in terms of quality from an internal parts perspective. The only difference will be on the switches and keycaps, of which I think the S75 utilize relatively basic caps and unbranded generic switches. If you have your own things to play with, getting the S75 may be better :)
if you're a touch typist, silver or viridian might be the best bet. Although, if you type fast, the silver may give you more errors. Viridians are light and have a nice bounce back but don't have a short actuation travel. I don't have any experience with pale green, but looks like it's slightly slower than viridians in terms of actuation distance.
Oh no ... Are you referring to connections? If I recall correctly, the connections will have the pins oriented either more on top or more on the bottom. You'll need to align the holes either top or bottom to match the pins of the socket
I am finally getting my first mech keyboard, I am confused between RKm75 and Aula f75 , I want thock and a long lasting one, which one would you recommend?
I own the Aula F75 and it's definitely thockier out of the box than the RKM75, and it'll serve you well. Not that I think there's anything wrong with the RKM75, I think the Aula just feels better to type on after having used it for some time.
i wanna get into keyboard modding but i don't understand how keycaps work. how do you know which keycaps are going to fit your keyboard? are they universal?
They're mostly universal now...back in the day different types of switches had different mounts that would only fit a certain keycap fit. However, modern keycaps and switches all utilize the Cherry MX mount, which are cross-shaped, and are basically universal at this point. If you're looking at newer keycaps, they'll mostly all fit. They'll usually mention that they're cherry MX mount, which will fit in almost all modern hot swappable switches, like the ones in the RK M75.
It's strictly info, but if you're looking for something with a decent screen that plays gif well, check out the Keymecher amzn.to/3xeGjhm, it's got a flippable screen on the back left that looks really nice.
@@keebtunes ah oke2... I already got the keyboard hahaha... well if cant its oke... its good tho... I like the feel when typing and gaming hahaha thank you for info 😊😊😊
thank you so much!! You don't technically have to, as they didn't come off scratchy or janky even though they were dry, but they would sound and feel so much better if you did! Definitely a tape mod though...
usually you'll want to see the keycap set as a whole to see if the set has the right keycap sizes, measured in "u". Most keycap sets will have the right sizes that you need as long as you get a set that can sufficiently cover a 100% board...so any sets with key counts over 100 should work with this board.
If you had to pick between two, I'd recommend this. What are the specs that you're looking for from a keyboard and maybe I can offer some more options?
@@keebtunes I'm currently looking for a budget 75% keyboard, maybe a more linear feel and has a 3-mode connection and a gasket mount too. I've recently realized that the value brought by budget boards have increased very much from a couple of years ago, so I'm taking my time picking between which one i should get
what's your price range? I've recently seen some amazingly affordable boards from kiiboom that's on sale, as low as $40 USD for a really good board with what you're looking for. Shipping I think was 5 bucks. Check their website www.kiiboom.com
Hello i just got this keyboard, its great and all but the space bar keeps rubbing against the case and getting stuck its really annoying. im just wondering if you have that issue
I didn't, I wonder why that is with yours..you could try nudging it up slightly - it's all held together by the stabilizers. and have some room to move. If not, try taking it out and flipping it backwards, and maybe get a different spacebar?
you think it could just be a bad batch i got? Im probably going to return it and buy another. i've already tired rotating the space bar and no luck@@keebtunes
Because the board is gasket mounted, you may be able to shift the board up a little bit instead of just the spacebar. It won't affect the key card in any way since it's just the mount. If that doesn't work, definitely return it
They're not better in terms of parts quality, but they are in terms of price. It's crazy paying over $1 per switch, and the difference between the two are barely noticeable when you're actually using it.
Yeah painters tape and moleskin are non-conductive, meaning they won't conduct electricity or heat. If you want to be super safe, you can add a layer of electrical tape over the battery for safe measures, but they're safe.
@@keebtunes Please make one on making a nice creamy build. I've been looking around for one but I just can't get it right. A nice guide would be amazing !!! Ofc featuring milky yellows. !!!
I'd love to do something like that, preferably with a more accessible board that anyone can get, maybe like the gmk67 ( it's incredibly cheap on aliexpress right now too!)
Thanks! Do you also know if it's okay to use mole skin as a permanent mod, like it won't damage anything and isn't a major risk to a battery fire/problem (unlike painters time which is in a way)?@@keebtunes
it isn't. I've checked on this, and moleskin isn't conductive in any way, and won't damage your board. I've had it on several of my boards for a year now and it's worked perfectly fine! It's actually better if you plan on using it permanently, as it is more adhesive than painter's tape, and constant peeling it off "COULD" possibly pull a weak-soldered socket. That hadn't happened to me either but just a caution. :D
Oh That's great!! I just recently saw a video about moleskin on your channel! Do you think it's possible to change out the knob, like what knob would be compatible for this board? Is the knob a standard size knob similar to epomakers or a way different size? @@keebtunes
The majority of knobs are the same size, even if they look different on the outside. Their inner socket is sized the same - iirc its roughly 21mm on the inside
@biergartenparty I'm thinking that you may have to reprogram the keyboard keys to have the function you need.. unfortunately I can't personally test this as this keyboard was one that I gave away to a relative, but here is a link to he software for you to try
yeah i saw that! That's never been the issue with it for me, tbh since I solder too. But it's just not satisfying using razer products lol. Who knows! Maybe this product will change my mind
@@keebtunes I only have it in wired mode and even after setting the software to no sleep, still turns off. I might get a replacement and see if it happens again.
They look very similar...probably use the same board and PCB, with the only difference being the switches and caps..a lot of vendors do this, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're similar
Hi! I ended up giving away this keyboard to a family member so I can't personally test it with a scan rate checker, but from my personal experience during usage, it feels in the range of 125hz/9ms
@keebtunes mmmmmm idk bro.... succint is an adjective almost exclusively used to define a notion of communication. A light cannot be terse, a light cannot be short with you...saying an led keyboard is succint goes along those same lines...it's not really logical...by definition. The whole "clearly expressed" definition you're reading to me, is in association with words read, or words said, and not a description of this particular noun; LEDs.
Once again, appreciate the feedback. I'm not disagreeing with you but am merely stating that the word itself can be useful outside of just the realm of communication, especially in this case where I am not referring to the clarity of the lights so much as I am describing their visual expression. I'll be more mindful of that in the future - English is my second language so I probably make mistakes all the time.
I suggest you get over the tape and lube stuff....it's a $80. keyboard and you're typing, not performing brain surgery....after your mods is sounded exactly the same.
People do DIY on things that cost much less - it doesn't always have to be brain surgery, if it's something that you enjoy doing, why should it matter to anyone else?

I’m kinda nervous about doing the tape mod because of this keyboard’s battery, but I’ve read some of the comments that say that it is safe. However I am wondering if it will be safe long term? or do I have to remove it after some time? I will be using mtx masking tape for the mod. Thank you.
hi! You won't have to worry about the camera (it's only in the event that the battery heats up so much that it'll burn the tape, which has never happened), but if you are, you can add a layer of electrical tape on the camera to segregate it from the painters tape.
@@keebtunes thank you for confirming. I will be doing the tape mod now 🤍
Hope it comes out well!
It came out so well. They sound so good after the tape mod. I also replaced the stock switches with akko piano pro v3 the one with the normal stem and it sounded really good it had a deep thocky sound. Thank you
Yoooo that's awesome!!!! I hope you love the new sound as much as I did
I am typing this on a RK61 and I'm pretty excited that they have a 75% layout for one of their budget keyboards!
I enjoy RK products a lot, and I like that they keep getting better
Was the solution to making the space bar sound way better the bending or the grease? Considering getting this over the Keychron V1 Max for a hot swappable bluetooth keeb under $100
You'd bend if it sounds uneven on one side vs the other, but would want grease if it sounds light and hollow
Love this board. Although it took me a while to figure out how to open it.
😂 it wasn't easy to open that's for sure
I dont know why but my unit came with south facing LEDs.. also the switches were lubed with very thin lube like krytox 105 .. i thought it wasnt applied or it was dried up so i relubed them with g lube.. later on i realised my mistake that they were prelubed..
Hey nothing wrong with lubing your switches! I'm sure they came out better than before!
@@keebtunes yes they did.. infact now it sound all marble like.. i upgraded from a cheap eyoosoo keyboard to this.. and I'm loving it so much.. it's made like a brick..
Hell yeah! That's great to hear!!!
@rishabhthakur8112 hell yeah! Your process sounded awesome!
the mod spacebar sounds expensive. Well done

Hey!

Yeah it's totally safe to do so. Painters tape is non conducive, so it won't create any issues with the battery.
@@keebtunes okay great! Thank you!
@emilyhaub6574 you're welcome!

Great video! By any chance, do you know how to remove the knob? I want to replace it
Hi Wendy, it comes right off (pull on it with a little force) and it's cut in the same way as other mechanical knobs, so it's super easy to swap out.
@@keebtunes Amazing! Thank you very much 😊
@wendymasset8608 you're welcome!
Do you guys know the polling rate for wired and wireless Mode? I tried Key inspector from github, but I can't get exact data.
you could try the Aula F75
@keebtunes hmm I'll now try the M75 with brown and red switches and see which I like better as I never had a mechanical keyboard before. I can buy an aula or other keyboard after it :D
Nc video. I bought it for arround 50usd and its south facing for some reason
Wow that's a fantastic freaking deal! Yea south facing won't matter at all if there's no interference, and I think their caps won't have that problem. Thank you for watching!
Hello, which one you prefer more RK S75 or RK M75? I didn't know exactly what difference about it
They're both almost identical, including the body and PCB itself, so you're not going to take much of a hit in terms of quality from an internal parts perspective. The only difference will be on the switches and keycaps, of which I think the S75 utilize relatively basic caps and unbranded generic switches. If you have your own things to play with, getting the S75 may be better :)
Call me crazy but I think I actually prefer the out of the box sound profile on this keyboard, minus the spacebar.
I'm sure plenty of people do!
which switch is best for rk m75 if my sole purpose is typing - Brown, fast silver, viridian, pale green ?
if you're a touch typist, silver or viridian might be the best bet. Although, if you type fast, the silver may give you more errors. Viridians are light and have a nice bounce back but don't have a short actuation travel. I don't have any experience with pale green, but looks like it's slightly slower than viridians in terms of actuation distance.
I'm in quite the dilemma after unplugging the cords to try to tape mod them and they aren't going back in 😅
Oh no ... Are you referring to connections? If I recall correctly, the connections will have the pins oriented either more on top or more on the bottom. You'll need to align the holes either top or bottom to match the pins of the socket
Thanks for the help, I luckily got out of the problem with your advice.
Yay!!
@@keebtunes Thanks for the quick reply, ordering the Aula f75!
My pleasure! I'm glad I could help!
i wanna get into keyboard modding but i don't understand how keycaps work. how do you know which keycaps are going to fit your keyboard? are they universal?
They're mostly universal now...back in the day different types of switches had different mounts that would only fit a certain keycap fit. However, modern keycaps and switches all utilize the Cherry MX mount, which are cross-shaped, and are basically universal at this point. If you're looking at newer keycaps, they'll mostly all fit. They'll usually mention that they're cherry MX mount, which will fit in almost all modern hot swappable switches, like the ones in the RK M75.

oh, but you should relube the stabilizers - their lube job isn't the best
Just ordered the M75 with brown switches as my first keyboard. Beside looking for 75%, how will I know which caps out there will fits onto the M75?
usually you'll want to see the keycap set as a whole to see if the set has the right keycap sizes, measured in "u". Most keycap sets will have the right sizes that you need as long as you get a set that can sufficiently cover a 100% board...so any sets with key counts over 100 should work with this board.

If that doesn't work, definitely return it
is the RK Brown switch better than Cherry Mx Brown Switch?
They're not better in terms of parts quality, but they are in terms of price. It's crazy paying over $1 per switch, and the difference between the two are barely noticeable when you're actually using it.
Is the tape mod safe with a battery? This is my first board but I don’t want to burn the house down.
Yeah painters tape and moleskin are non-conductive, meaning they won't conduct electricity or heat. If you want to be super safe, you can add a layer of electrical tape over the battery for safe measures, but they're safe.

The stock sound test at the very beginning is how it would sound

Learn the actual definition of the word "succint". Maybe don't use words you don't know...? Thank you for the video though 😂
I say a lot of things that don't make sense so I ain't mad about it. But succinct does mean "clearly expressed" and doesn't just have to be with words
I'll be more mindful of that in the future - English is my second language so I probably make mistakes all the time.
so much bass in your voice, it's hard to listen to.
I'm sorry 😔 I'll try to talk further away or look into brighter audio recording next time!
HELP!
