That's what match fishing in these venue's is all about. Tanks John for the effort you take to film it while fishing the match. We all enjoy it very much and that is why you get all our thumbs up !
Hi Jon Great video, plenty of fish, even the wrong type (esox) I thought you fished a good match, the swim had its problems with the snags and pike Try the lottery tonight you never know bud. Take care, stay safe and keep it lit.👍 my friend.
Watched half this morning before work, looked forward to seeing how it went. Not as i expected! Thanks as ever for taking the time and effort to put this out there.
Really good to see something other than a muddy pool. Love to see the natural venues within the country. Looking forward to more of the same...and muddy pool matches .
Nice inspiring video again Jon! One of "them days" showing exactly what fishing on a natural venue is all about: fishing different lines, catching snags, being hampered by pikes, altering hooklengths, cursing for a tangled rig, working hard to get some bites, but hanging in and still finishing third in your section! well done 👍
your problem was you were pegged to close to the ‘Pike King’ Clive Branson 😂 … i’m an avid follower of both your channels and omg he’s had so much trouble with pike this year on all sorts of venues …. that match as well he was plagued by them …. anyhoo great video as always thanks for sharing your river fest day👍👍
Brilliant as usual. How can anyone put a thumbs down. They are very sad people. Only on the forum to be negative. Anyway. I thought it was brilliant Mr A
Hi Jon ,know the feeling ! There does seem to be more pike about now ,as said before is this because THERE is more bait fish now . My river Blackwater in Essex, our club water , is alive with them ,but there is loads of roach ,dace ,chublets and gudgeon and perch ,if you could line them up with out interference, big weights would happen .Peter D
Interesting part of the Thames from pangbourne to goring and as Ive said before the roach are plentifull and getting much bigger.Must try and get a ticket for next years event.
Oh dear. One of those days. As you said, nice fishing and nice fish. No mad dogs this time. Wonder how well you would have done with a dead bait twitched, or a lure? Could well have been a red letter day with the amount of pike there. I hope you can get some footage at the Thames festival. Silly question, have you, or has anyone you know, thrown big balls of ground bait out and broken a top kit in the process? I ask because it make me cringe when I see balls of 1lb+ landing so close to poles.
I can feel your nervousness as each roach comes in waiting for that pesky pike to hit it. Feel the same on our local river when I finally get a decent roach only for a pike to take it. On another note is the river very clear at the moment? looks like about 9 feet deep? Would the pole also spook the roach? Great video thank you.
oh well..you worked yourself hard like usual.... that looked perfect for " clive bransons " spray the whole river with bait technique and fish waggler over it...nice and slow.. .. did you not try worm under your feet for perch like you normally do..? enjoyable vid though nice one..
Well I only tune in for the wildlife. Ok no wildfowl this week but a water buffalo a cheeky monkey and I’m sure I saw a Unicorn in there somewhere. Cheers and I’ll see you later Alligator 🍺👍🍌
93lbs of bream is a massive catch, seems the rivers you fish are very peggy mate so not much you can do unless you draw in the right area. Look forward to some more commercial matches buddy.
like all fishing is peggy but we need rain and colour then the bream can be anywhere at child beale but as you can see its a lovely place but is for fit or young lads the walks can be omg
Unlucky Jon. Iv found, this year on the, yare, bure, Thurne as, soon as you add groundbait roach go iffy. By far Best fed with plenty hemp, tares and few caster. But there, decent colour in at moment suppose if it's clear there might need it. Next time eh.

Pike are an absolute peg killer to us roach anglers .

All you needed was some duck's in your swim 😂👍👍
And a partridge in a pear tree!
put a spinner rig on before you start the match that will put them off lol

Love a quality stick🌲

Hello im a french ficherman and y have a question.
Waht IS your favorite élastique for thé river on roach bleak and skimmer please .thanks you for tour invitation on Facebook
Hi Hugo I use 6-8 Slik (0.1mm) for catching well, 4-6 (0.09mm) if small fish or difficult fishing. For bleak I use a No3 or No2 elastic (0.7mm) 👍
