- This video was shot at the Cherry Hill Road crossing in Lancaster, PA
After Altoona, we headed east to Lancaster to visit the Strasbourg Railroad. Since i had info that this crossing would be getting new signals sometime next year, i made it a top priority to film these classic old signals in action.
Crossing Info:
Signal #1: 2 pairs of RACO 8 inch lights, a RACO gate mechanism and a RACO mechanical bell
Signal #2: 2 pairs of RACO 8 inch lights, and a RACO gate mechanism
Enjoy!

Great Video! Like the old RACO signals. Sad they had to replace the ones at the other crossing.
Nice find! Good thing there is another crossing with old RACO Gates
Thank You
Yea, but these signals from what i was told, will be gone soon
That Crossing Is Older Than My Great Grandmother!
XD
Love those RACO Hydraulic gate mechs! Wish I could get up here and film these signals, but that likely won't happen. Great video!
I watched your videos???
I recorded the signals that were at Paradise Lane, not these. The ones at Paradise Lane were replaced.
Please tell me that's not Cherry Hill Road Crossing that would be sad if these signals were getting replaced on that road
Yep, this is Cherry Hill Road, but as of last weekend (June 10th), these crossing signals are still here

Nice catch! Cool to see the old RACO signals still in place.
Thank You! Yea, shame they are getting replaced this year, from what i was told
Bummer. Do you suspect they'll do a similar setup to the new signals at Paradise Lane?

Ring the bell and spread the news the train is coming.
It's a nice piece. But why did they have to run the engine in reverse?
Because the Strasburg railroad has no turn tables so the engines have to pull the trains tender first heading east but switch around when going back
One of the gates just Shake whenever it went down
Yea, old signals, heavy gate, bolts not tightened
When I have my own house one day I hope to have a Raco Crossing signal complete signal and gate mechanism with Raco lights a Raco Crossing Bell which I already have and program the Bell to stop before the gates go up because as a kid growing up I remember the ending scene of there goes a train on the road of the San Diego Railroad Museum with Alco MRS-1 running for the Crossing with a classic Leslie RS5-T horn and listening to the Raco Bell on the signal and after the train pass the Bell stops and the gate goes back up and you can hear the motor in the gate mechanism working the video link below has that exact scene and the configuration I want my Raco Crossing signal to be

if anyone know what the top backward facing lights are I would like to know if they were regular lights or strobe lights
They changer the crossings?
One got new signals, this one will next year from what i was told
More like THE OLDEST CROSSING EVER MADE not trying to be rude or anything
It is not the oldest crossing ever made, actually.
But still pretty darn old...
how old is it
Yay!!!!!!
It was cold in Pennsylvania
Not really cold, more windy then anything
Seems like 89 got smaller
Nope that’s just the video
