Thanks for the video. Such an amazing view! And I'm glad you had the vintage Cj-7 back out! It's always good to see old-school Jeeps hitting the road and putting up a strong performance!
I’m waiting on some new suspension parts and I’ll do a video on that upgrade. Trying to improve both off-road and street performance. It’s a little scary on the street right now. But I want to get it off-road more. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment!
@@tcsadventures Sure! Please keep us updated on the suspension rebuild and the upcoming off-road outings! Your CJ-7 makes me wanna bring over my 1981 CJ-5 here to Canada all the way from Brazil! Maybe this year!
I’m so fired up for my 80 CJ7 Laredo to be on the road. Living in SoCal, this is exactly what I needed to see! Great video. Hope to see you out there one day.
That’s a great question. You’ll see a lot of forums discussing whether a front or rear locker is best - if you’re only going to do one. Some argue having the front locker helps pull the vehicle over obstacles. I can tell you it can make steering a challenge in some situations. The setup I went with was recommended by my mechanic. I would say that I’ve been fine with it. I’m more concerned with how stiff my springs are and the lack of articulation (and bump steer on the road). I’ll have a video out in a couple of weeks with some steering upgrades. Here’s a link with some pretty good discussion on lockers: www.pirate4x4.com/threads/diff-lock-on-front-vs-rear.761186/
I have to say your channel is awesome! The life you live is inspiring with all your adventures lol. I do jeep rides and primitive camping in north east GA in the Appalachian mountains. What size tires you running on your cj and gear ratio?
@@tcsadventures awesome! Yeah we camp on Sarah's creek off of warwomen rd in Clayton GA but you can also do camping on earls Ford rd off of warwomen rd as well and there is awesome trout fishing in all the creeks and Chattooga river around that little area pretty awesome place to explore.
I look at these two Jeeps and think wow that CJ-7 is phenomenal while the jku looks awkward, bus like especially with a hard top. I see so many 4 doors all cacooned and think, why didn't they just get a Grand Cherokee? Jeeps are meant to have that great open air experience like your CJ-7. A Jeep should have the Willys MB configuration, if not, it's just a jeep misc vehicle. O|||||||O 🇺🇸 Only in a 2 Dr 🇺🇸 '41 - '06
I think a lot of Jeep fans would agree. I’ve heard many Jeep lovers say that the CJ7 was their best civilian design. But I have to admit, I like my JK. It’s boxy for sure, but with the lift and tires I really think the stance looks good. It’s very convenient for all the camping we do and definitely more capable than a Cherokee. With the Rubicon Hard Rock Edition I have heavy duty steel bumpers and not the plastic you get on a Cherokee. Just more beefy all around. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@tcsadventures The Hard Rock edition is great and I can definitely see the many advantages of having one. Someone on the trail had a '17 Rubicon Recon 2 dr soft top. That was the best JK I ever saw in person. I had a '08 JK X 2 dr soft top with that lousy 3.8, I added a front stubby steel bumper and line x the rear bumper and fender flares. But I knew it wasn't long term for me. I found an '05 TJ Rocky Mtn and knew this was the Jeep for me. Great videos, have a good 4th. 🎆🇺🇸
Sooooooooooooooper fantastic.
Awesome.
I might have a brand spanking new rubicon, but I have to say that I love your CJ7. That was a perfect environment for the Jeeps. Nice video!
Thanks for watching!

I also have a 1980 CJ7 Laredo, one owner. Love it! Enjoy watching the videos.
Some of those roads are narrow! I’ve had a lot of fun driving the canyon roads but never this off road part.
Yeah you don’t realize how narrow and how big the drop off is until you see it on video. Have you already moved?
@@tcsadventures not 100% yet, I'll be be in CA for most of th month of May
Love your Jeep. I also have a 1984 Jeep CJ7 Renegade. Just curous about why you went with a locker up front and the limited slip in the rear. Thanks.

These trails got closed recently. Some guy owns 50feet of the road leading up to the gate on Bedford canyon and he decided to put a gate up.
Sounds illegal.

Definitely want to get to the Appalachians! The tires are 33 x 10.5 x 15. The wheels are factory and the gearing is all factory too.

Do not let her drive anywhere near Blackbear! Or Moab or anywhere in the Rockies!
By the way, Cali calls this a forest?
Terry - why do you make Vicky do scary things? Missed you at Angels opening day.
Just got cell service... been in Joshua Tree. Are you kidding she’s braver than me by far! Don’t remember an invite lol!
What lift and tires?
Check out the walk around video I posted for my CJ where I describe all the upgrades.
