    A ha - so you love Cretan music too! We have much in common. I assume you know Ross Daly and Labyrinth

      Yes I have a few Ross Daly CDs. Crete has some very good music and the mandolin tradition there is remarkable.

      Check out Michael Kontaxakis. A great mandolin player from Crete.

      @@juharossi1617 I definitely will - thanks for the tip. I play mandolin too, so I may give some of the tunes a try, though I know they're devilishly difficult.

      @@juharossi1617 Do you know Nikola Parov, who played with Andy Irvine & Donal Lunny in Mozaik? Here he is in an amazing performance, which goes wild at the end (he plays fiddle on his thigh, then strums bouzouki with his fingers):

      This is also amazing (a nyckelharpa):

      @@robst247 yes I love the Balkan influence in Irish folk music. I have a background playing Greek, Bulgarian and Macedonian dance music.

    This seems like an american mandolin. Do greeks use this one or the older one that sounds different and is used in italy and portugal?

    • @juharossi1617
      @juharossi1617  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, This is a Fender Concert tone with a arched top. Cretans usually use mandolins with flat back and flat top. The body depht also is slightly deeper than what you would find in American Bluegrass mandolins.
