Agree 100%. Canik is doing it better than most weapons companies. I have had the V2 version since 2016. Not one complaint about this pistol. I picked up the TP 9 SC in 2020. I carry a Glock 30 S in .45 and own an 1988 W. German Sig 226. I have owned a few different pistols through the years. I mention this in comparison to the Canik line of pistols. They are solid firearms with accessories and adjustments to consumers request. Keep up the great reviews , I never buy a weapon without your POV. This Rival is on my watch list, thanks to you. Out of the box the Canik outperform the Glock in two categories, velocity and accuracy. Check that one out, pretty strong validation for the incredible value of the Canik.
same! full size sf and i now have a all black elite 15 rounder. love them both, have had 0 issues with sf after thousands and thousands.... however the elite had a malfunction early on - had to send it back to canik. they got me 100% though. id trust em with my life. i normally cycle 500+ rounds thru a gun before i carry anyways but... take care.
Canik is so under rated. People overlook them because they're from over seas but the Turks have been pushing out great firearms lately. I just wish they had more options in 40 or a 45 acp canik would be nice

I've been a shooter my whole life & after getting the TP9SFX, Canik has become my favorite overall company simply due to the price points for the offerings. I typically run Sigs but have been carrying the Canik TP9 Elite Combat lately & love it as well. Regardless, I recommend Canik to literally everyone I talk guns with. My FFL has me on his call list when he sees a Darkside Rival hit his shop.
Maybe you should’ve qualified that best trigger comment with “at or near this price point” ever pulled the trigger on a CZ shadow 2? Much nicer out of the box, I have a tp9sfx and the CZ shadow 2 I take the canik as an open carry when in the woods but always take the CZ to the range.
Guys, I just bought the gray rival with gold accents. If you loved caniks before, the rival is absolutely freaking amazing. Once you hold one you will buy it I guarantee it!

After a while I had to stop shooting my Canik SFX Rival because I was putting the bullets thru the same hole. I was just wasting ammo lol. Super great pistol to shoot.
Have to agree fully, as a beginner competitor shooter I bought my first canik TPSFX because you couldn’t beat the price and what you get. Since then I have fell in love I have put well over 7,000 rounds through it, no problems what so ever. Now I own 9 of them ever model they make. Can’t say enough about them. They where great at Shot Show this year to.
A Canik TP9SF was my very first semi-auto purchase, back in 2016, so I have a soft spot for their guns. I think they're best value budget-guns. Yes, they're knock-offs of (better?) manufacturer offerings. This one looks like a semi-copycat of my Walther Q5 Match. But I've never heard a bad word about their reliability, functionality or quality.

It has that longer sight radius because of the five inch barrel so you know you're able to really pick up those sights and to get more on target." This is the kind of high quality content I expect from a non-competition shooter reviewing a competition pistol.
Thank you sootch, for a great Rival review. I own 3 Caniks and love them all. The only sore point I have is that the purchasing extra factory magazines has been near impossible for a year now. The only readily magazines has been the 18 round promags which I do not like. This has been only sore spot for recommending Caniks to anyone. The after market product support for any factory accessories and magazines has been extremely lacking. I dont think covid and supply chain can not be used as an excuse any more as other manufactures have been able by now to keep up. Plus Canik now sells so many pistols now in the U.S. they should have factory magazines available. I hope Canik can fix this problem sometime in the near future because they are such excellent firearms.
I bought one today. I had no issues with it but my mother who isn't as skilled in shooting limp wristed it a few times and we got two stove pipes. But i coached her and all the other shots ran smooth. And she was very accurate actually. Great firearm.
This is gonna be my 15yo daughters competition gun. She's participated in IDPA and that bug has really bitten her. Not only has it reviewed well by many; but the price is a no brainer.
I have a Brand New TP9sfx and it stovepipes on every round!! After communicating with them via e-mail I was informed that if my ammo was not loaded to NATO specs or to +P I will have malfunctions. Also they are Backordered on magazines and base plates. They were RESPONSIVE and are sending me a lower strength recoil spring assembly. I haven't received it yet, but will keep you updated!! Hopefully this will resolve my cycling issues and they will get magazines and base plates in stock.
My SFX runs like a fine Swiss watch with 115 grain ammo with a Galloway stainless guide rod and 22 pound spring it also has a Freedomsmith billet aluminium trigger that makes the already great stock trigger even better a very very short take up hardly any slack and a even shorter reset probably the best striker fired trigger I've ever felt even better than my stock Walther PPQ gen 2 navy 9mm trigger that is pretty good

Caniks have phenomenal triggers with the whole package you get for the price. I sold my glocks, m&p’s, sigs, walthers, cz’s. I only have a springfield xdm compact 10mm for hiking. All my 9mm are canik!
I gotta agree 👍 I love my METE's, but this seems like the perfect METE!!! METE with extended mag release and slide stop in addition to being able to put a full sized dot = WINNER!!!

I have 3 Rivals and they only came with 2 mags. Maybe when they were first came on the market they shipped with 3 mags. I asked my gun shop about getting one with three mags, but all of their suppliers only had new Rivals with 2 mags. Btw...IMHO its the best gun for the money.
My Canik came in today. I have to wait a week for the NIC check to clear. OK, the NIC check came thru and now to the range. Finally made it to the range. The trigger on this 1911 is awesome. Great firearm.
The most important thing the Mete has that the Rival does not is the chamber loaded indicator... I wish it had the CLI but it doesn't. Otherwise, the Rival is an amazing shooting pistol, the best gun I've ever purchased. Don't expect three mags. Mine came with two mags.
I really wish Canik could come out with different caliber options like .380/.22.... I'm surprised they don't have .45 or .40 yet. They're doing a great job with the 9mm so far, imagine if they brought more caliber options and rifles too... They would skyrocket the firearm industry.

Shot my SFX and TP9 today. Superb handling and nice triggers. No issue putting rounds inside a 6 in target quickly at 7 or 10 yards. I even used a box of 2 year old steel case ammo where the coating started to dry up and feel like powder. No issues whatsoever- but will not use them again because I don't want to damage my extractors or ejectors.
Very good value for the money, did had issues with mines which Century Arms quickly fixed, they replaced the extractor and silver recoil guide rod assembly and replaced it with a blue one.
My Canik Pistol is so easy to slide, front, back, middle of the gun. Love it. Easy to take apart for cleanings. If this were my first Pistol buy, probably would have been My only make...but bought Sig first. Love them both.
You will not be disappointed!!! I just bought one 2 days ago took it to the range,,, omg!!! The trigger is amazing!!! It is a tac driver!! By far best striker fired trigger yet!!

Discovered Canik 2021 by accident when my 16 year old looked at the SFX Mete and full review verbatim, "This thing's pretty cool." Of course I dismissed it because it's my card and brain said no way it's any good because it's not expensive. Got it anyway and I'm annoyed how good this mediocre marksman can shoot it for the price. This sort of follows a trend I've seen over past couple of years whether it be golf or guns which I can still have fun at being past my physical prime. Following that analogy, you can trick out a custom fit set of Pings, Calloways or Taylor Mades and yes they're super cool but come down to it you're paying a ton for the name and a bunch of cool CGI demonstrating the latest and greatest technology that magically is supposed to fix a slice or duck hook. None of it does. Based on that, I looked into who Canik is as a company and if they can do aerospace well because it's about perfecting limits and efficiency within the bounds of physics and biomechanics and it makes total sense they're making incredible guns that make way more expensive brands look bad. I love innovation that rocks the status quo especially affordably because it makes exercise of 2A rights more affordable and more enjoyable. Canik is a new business model I hope has the attention of the handgun establishment.

Don.. video subject suggestion: Nothing to do with this Canik.. Many tubers have said that Red Dot sights are useless if your battery fails, vs prismatic which have the sight picture etched into the glass as a back up in case of battery failure.. I know you own ALL the major red dots.. how about taking the batteries out of your trijicon, aimpoints etc and try to hit a target at 100 and 200 and see what your success rate is ? eh.. thanks

These are really nice firearms and maybe in the near future they will come out with a TM9 or MP9 to rival all the other micro compacts like the m&p shield, helcat ect...
My Rival will be here in a few days, to replace my TP9SA. I compared it against the Walther Q5 Match and the Q5 Match is better, but I couldn't justify the price difference- and at my skill level now, the pistol won't be the determining factor how I do. I competed in law enforcement class in the 90's with a Glock 22 .40 cal, but last time I trained was still 15 years ago doing CQB and a couple day Thunder Ranch advanced handgun class. Maybe when my skills come back and improve, I'll get the new TTI collaboration platform. Thanks for the video!

i own a sfx and love it , but i don't think they will be taking over the market soon. They don't have the aftermarket support like a Glock ,MP or Sig . and mags are difficult to find. if my glock or mp broke a part i could go online and buy that part and have it in a few days. Canik needs to have their own stateside facilities instead of relying on century to import them . My grand power is a orphan after they dropped the line . getting parts for it is hard.
I’m liking this big front and rear serration trend. Walther PDP and now Canik embracing thicker slide serrations. My Beretta APX, once thought of as such an ugly duckling should now be redeemed and one should consider it to be ahead of its time. I still think APX is underrated. It’s one of my best performer, lowest recoil, while being one of the cheapest.

My first gun was a Canik TP9V2 which I loved. Later I got a Walther PDP 5" compact. This gun looks like their offspring.

Mine came with two mags also. Interesting point, the Canik mags run in my Walther PDP, but my PDP mags won’t run in the Canik.
I really wish Canik could come out with different caliber options like .380/.22.... I'm surprised they don't have .45 or .40 yet. They're doing a great job with the 9mm so far, imagine if they brought more caliber options and rifles too... They would skyrocket the firearm industry.
I think keeping 1 caliber is what helps keeps cost low. But your right it would be nice to see different options.
I never thought a pistol could have TOO MANY slide/cocking serrations, but Çanik has done it! Serrations on the barrel hood?! Too much! 😆
Turk here... I don't think we have the line under the C for Canik. The alphabet uses both C and the line C, U and U with dots etc.

Triggers are very nice. Crisp and short reset and it doesn't break the bank either.
We say like janik in Turkey but you can call it whatever you like guys we are ok:). I'm happy you like our guns but this is not enough i hope we can make much better ones for you.
Shot my SFX and TP9 today. Superb handling and nice triggers. No issue putting rounds inside a 6 in target quickly at 7 or 10 yards. I even used a box of 2 year old steel case ammo where the coating started to dry up and feel like powder. No issues whatsoever- but will not use them again because I don't want to damage my extractors or ejectors.
I don't want another 9mm pistol, but this one has piqued my interest. I wonder if they will bring out a 10mm or .45 model?
Very good value for the money, did had issues with mines which Century Arms quickly fixed, they replaced the extractor and silver recoil guide rod assembly and replaced it with a blue one.
I bought on a couple days ago. Such a good shooter. Love it.
My Canik Pistol is so easy to slide, front, back, middle of the gun. Love it. Easy to take apart for cleanings. If this were my first Pistol buy, probably would have been My only make...but bought Sig first. Love them both.

Discovered Canik 2021 by accident when my 16 year old looked at the SFX Mete and full review verbatim, "This thing's pretty cool." Of course I dismissed it because it's my card and brain said no way it's any good because it's not expensive. Got it anyway and I'm annoyed how good this mediocre marksman can shoot it for the price. This sort of follows a trend I've seen over past couple of years whether it be golf or guns which I can still have fun at being past my physical prime. Following that analogy, you can trick out a custom fit set of Pings, Calloways or Taylor Mades and yes they're super cool but come down to it you're paying a ton for the name and a bunch of cool CGI demonstrating the latest and greatest technology that magically is supposed to fix a slice or duck hook. None of it does. Based on that, I looked into who Canik is as a company and if they can do aerospace well because it's about perfecting limits and efficiency within the bounds of physics and biomechanics and it makes total sense they're making incredible guns that make way more expensive brands look bad. I love innovation that rocks the status quo especially affordably because it makes exercise of 2A rights more affordable and more enjoyable. Canik is a new business model I hope has the attention of the handgun establishment.
Just got mine and can't wait to get it to the range and compare it to the wifes tp9 sfx both have great triggers so will be interesting to say the least

Don.. video subject suggestion: Nothing to do with this Canik.. Many tubers have said that Red Dot sights are useless if your battery fails, vs prismatic which have the sight picture etched into the glass as a back up in case of battery failure.. I know you own ALL the major red dots.. how about taking the batteries out of your trijicon, aimpoints etc and try to hit a target at 100 and 200 and see what your success rate is ? eh.. thanks

I have seen a lot of Canik pistols come through my store and have shied away from them BUT, this gun intrigued me and i was interested in seeing an unbiased review of it. It really looks good. You can use Walter mags and Sig 226 with a minor mod to the catch slot. The Mag gar sig mags are 1/2 the cost
These are really nice firearms and maybe in the near future they will come out with a TM9 or MP9 to rival all the other micro compacts like the m&p shield, helcat ect...

My Rival will be here in a few days, to replace my TP9SA. I compared it against the Walther Q5 Match and the Q5 Match is better, but I couldn't justify the price difference- and at my skill level now, the pistol won't be the determining factor how I do. I competed in law enforcement class in the 90's with a Glock 22 .40 cal, but last time I trained was still 15 years ago doing CQB and a couple day Thunder Ranch advanced handgun class. Maybe when my skills come back and improve, I'll get the new TTI collaboration platform.

i own a sfx and love it , but i don't think they will be taking over the market soon. They don't have the aftermarket support like a Glock ,MP or Sig . and mags are difficult to find. if my glock or mp broke a part i could go online and buy that part and have it in a few days. Canik needs to have their own stateside facilities instead of relying on century to import them . My grand power is a orphan after they dropped the line . getting parts for it is hard.

Bought the TP9SF instead of Glock 17. I dont regret it.
I bought my first canik last month got the flat dark earth Sfx rival that came with the mecanik 2 red dot and it’s my most accurate polymer pistol.
How many mags you got ?sfx rival dark side
Just my opinion, but Canik is way better than Glock. I've had 7 Glocks in my life, but Canik just makes a finer pistol.

I’m liking this big front and rear serration trend. Walther PDP and now Canik embracing thicker slide serrations. My Beretta APX, once thought of as such an ugly duckling should now be redeemed and one should consider it to be ahead of its time. I still think APX is underrated. It’s one of my best performer, lowest recoil, while being one of the cheapest.
Smith & Wesson honestly pumps out just as much as Canik.
