Probably Drifters, good historical fantasy made by the hellsing mangaka. if Solo Leveling is an isekai then that though lol . That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime is also pretty damn good imo.
Modern isekai is just using the same concept of either a neet, a perv, a wimp, a nice guy virgin, or a edgy wannabe villain becoming OP in another world with a 97% chance of getting a harem and they're always so identical to what average MC looks like and being OP is their whole trait. Wheather they are good, bad or pervs they are only known for being OP and getting a harem
Too be fair I don’t think there are inherent problems with isekai itself. More so with anime and their tropes. Pervy characters are largely hated now more than ever as just one example. All of the good isekais do something new. ReZero, SAO, and Frieren - you showed clips so that’s why I’m including it - don’t have said overly perverted character. I’m not saying that’s the only thing but it is a thing that points out they’re doing something different. FMA: Brotherhood did the same thing.
If it’s a character that’s harassing I totally get the hate because I dislike it as well but if the pervy character is harmless and their just more so silly I don’t get hate for the characters if their just being more so dopey than anything or if they had consent from the other party but by cartoon hijinx acted stupid and blew their chance to be dating.
@@mysmallnoman Go back to school, retake reading comprehension, and then you’ll understand my comment was about anime tropes with pervert characters being one example. Which I specifically stated. -_- smh
the problem i have with the vending machine isekai is honestly the fact that he doesn't just get a skill to help him communicate. He could just get telepathy or something
I agree with everything you discussed in this excellent video. Fortunately, two goated Isekai, Jobless Reincarnation and Re:Zero, introduced me to this genre. You can recommend other Isekai that are as good as these two, and I will put them on my watchlist.
Isekai is like daily soap. We know it is the same character and story over and over again but it is fun to watch while you are on the bus or in gym or when you are just tired.
The problem isn't isekai itself, like you mentioned yourself the opportunities are infinite. The problem is that it's the easy thing to do. Manhwa faces this same issue, there are infinite "tower climbing" stories and solo leveling lookalikes. And of course 90 percent of them are garbage, relying on the familiar prompts and small twists to draw people in. And to be fair 90 percent of all stories are probably garbage regardless of genre, but nobody reads those.
Not only this video has the same terrible anti isekai arguments, but the segment about SAO is laughable " Kirito became OP, and there's fanservice left and right " Kirito spent an entire season being mostly weak and and another 2 being literally a vegetable lol, and what fanservice ? Are you sure you were watching the correct show ?
damn bro SAO couldve been so good if they made the whole series about escaping the game. after they got out through some bs the show lost any point it initially had
@ but its not even about VR. they hop into different games because why not and theres little to no exploration of how VR affects you and the world. if youre talking about the psudeo science part of it with the "fluctlight" stuff, i genuienly dont know what to tell you other than its fictional science made up for anime sake. and no, that isnt about VR either
@jahterminatedlmao5473 it's about how virtual reality affects people, with stuff like Sinon using it as a coping mechanism, Yuuki using it as the only way for her to have a normal life, Asuna and Kirito having some good memory in the SAO game even if it was also an awful experience as the movie explores this, etc " It's fictional science made up for anime's sake " and ? And lol no it's about VR
I actually liked the vending machine one... I have gotten a bit annoyed with all of them being a harem fantasy. I don't watch anime for TnA, I like adventure.
@@ronmorey1246 I think almost every Anime has TnA in some way even if it’s minimal it’s still there and the vending machine one I believe was a comedy not an adventure one.
cus its boring and hte settings are all dull i want adenture where they have to do things other than what hte plot needs them to do its so dull and boring and sword art was the start of it
What’s your favourite Isekai?
isekai on titan
Probably Drifters, good historical fantasy made by the hellsing mangaka.
if Solo Leveling is an isekai then that though lol .
That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime is also pretty damn good imo.
Modern? Amphibia and The Owl House
Classic? The Wizard of Oz and Alice In Wonderland
Mushoku tensei
Mushoku tensei, but Ascendance of a Bookworm is really good too
Jobless reincarnation, rezero, overlord are some of the best shows not just isekai
>overlord
Lol

So is every genre
All of them repeat their same tropes
@mysmallnoman
They add personality and care. Isekai doesn't 90% of the time
@JustinCarbaugh " personality and care " lol coping
@mysmallnoman fanboy alert
@@JustinCarbaugh and you're not a fanboy ? Lol
Eminence of shadow and konosuba are straight heat
Pervert characters and harem ? Lol

Pervert characters aren't an isekai thing lol, and in fact most ecchi anime aren't even isekai

@@CommanderChris66 you specifically talked about isekai, not anime in general lol
@@mysmallnoman My first sentence states otherwise. 🙄

Drifters, overlord, and slime are great. It's just sad that drifters didn't finish
So, Drifters is unfinished? I planned to watch it this week. If it is unfinished, there is no point in watching it now.
Overlord and slime are literally not different from any wish fullifilment power fantasy isekai lol
But Frieren isn't an isekai
