The new ill niño kicks ass and sounds heavy. The new singer is doing a great job bringing the ill niño name back into the music scene.
Marcos Leal is an awesome singer for Ill Niño, I also love his other band Shattered Sun

Ahh those were the days, ill nino - revolucion, Slipknot-iowa, dry kill logic - darker side of nonsense...all came out around the same period.
2001 was a great year for nu metal.

Christian pretty much says without directly saying it that the new Ill Nino sounds like shit lol! Definitely some truth to that.
The new ill niño sounds like old ill niño. That's kinda weird. They are supossed to find a new identity and keep some old school elements IMO.
Im glad hes still in the music scene tho. I grew up on him and ill niños music probably since i was born. He makes amazing music

Very good interview and also awesome honest questions. Cristian def is one of my fav singers in Nu Metal. I had the privilege to finally seen them live back in 2017 in NJ. As much I respect him, it’s hard for me to believe that his album with Diego and Ahrue is “finished” Like...not just like that. Especially being out of the band. I would have asked what would their band name is, atleast. I mean, he’s been focused and promoting his solo album through out this here. No way he has finished a full album with the remaining two. I can believe they started, but def not finished already lol. And I question, who is the drummer? Side note, it would be great they kept their Latin flava alive. Not just leave it to just one band. How else are they going to sound like, other thousands and thousands of bands with generic sound? Ahrue is fvcking talented on the acoustic and Latin strings. Cmon, can’t let that talent go on to waste. Either way, I look forward to his upcoming band. And sadly, I will still be listening to the New Ill Nino album whenever it’s released*sighs*

Thanks a lot brother. I'm glad you liked it. I actually asked him about the name of the band but he didnt want to answer. They actually started the project at the end of 2019 so 11 months of work for an álbum is more than enough. The album is done minus mixing and mastering.

Omg Crankcase and Headclamp. I remember those days in Union City NJ a long time ago. Crankcase had a studio on Sipp street and Marc would bring Christian with him many times. Great interview. Brings back some great memories.

I was 7 years old when they formed the band in union city , to know that one of my favorite metal bands is from my hometown is just crazy!
I think having the _entire band_ be part of the songwriting process is important for a band to function well and to continue in a health way...
yep, he essentially is a control freak. Probably doesn't freak out about it externally, but he has difficulty with it.

Christian, along with the others that were "kicked out"/lost the Band name, just need to regroup and keep making music as _"Healthy Nina"_ or some shit. Just because they lost their name and the others get to keep it...I still would like to hear music from them.

while revolution revolución is definitely one of the best albums, I personally rate epidemia, enigma and TDLF higher than confession.

@@rocktalks5706 yeah my favourites would be the first 3, they kinda changed too much after that, some of the newer stuff is still good but it's very different from the first 3 albums. It's kinda nostalgic now too, now that I'm an old man, old ill nino reminds me of being like 16 - 20 again lol

I was actually going to ask the same thing. The story I’ve heard is during one of the Soulfly/ill nino tours, Christian or the other guys from ill Nino were talking bad about Soulfly on stage and Rizzo caught wind of it and confronted the ill nino members at their tour bus and got into a fist fight with Christian.
@@andrewmachado6988 hard to believe. Soulfly is one of the biggest influences for ill niño. They actually did a cover of Eye for an Eye. Cant imagine Cristian talking shit about Soulfly of all places on stage!

I can feel for this guy. He got his band name and his dream stolen. It’s true they made their mark in the scene, but it was also at a time de genre was already beginning to decline (nu-metal) and becoming gimmicky. I feel his pain but he contradicts himself so much. You’re bitter and hurt, who wouldn’t be, but you need to accept the way things panned out. In one instances you praise your band mates, on others it was all you, then it was the sound, then the producer, then the songs weren’t as heavy and that was bad and you did more comercial vocals, but they were great, then this, than that. Maybe you should stat accepting that in this business more often that not things happen outside of our control. We don’t control what people want to hear, labels with money help, etc but nu-metal was dying and being hard for every band by the time you guys had problems. Maybe the problem wasn’t even in you and your guys. Who knows? But you guys were the exception, you stood out from the crowd for a bit. That in itself is awesome. Sure bands are hard, even successful ones, but maybe stop blaming other people and circumstances you had no control over and own a bit of your responsibility. I’m not saying thing to shit on Christian, it’s tough as it is what he’s going through, I say this for him to heal and move on as a person. He clearly is resentful (who wouldn’t) he clearly is clinging to the past. That will trap and hurt him, not the guy who stole his band name and kept going.
I wasn’t a massive fan, but was a fan and found this after their new track popped up (mascara). I though “well that did not suck at all”, as a lot more people did. Thought is was weird Rob wasn’t there, and found this. Bro move one for your own sake, this all clearly has a hold on you. What you’ve accomplished no one will ever forget, don’t hold on to the worst of the past, but the best. Bands that were bigger than yours, are struggling to get by or be relevant. It’s the way things are. You were one of the lucky ones, you touched lives, and no one can take that away from you, but move onto something else, do something else, for yourself. Who cares about mixes being “metallic” or not, who cares who did what? Fans never care. Just do you. I’m sure a lot of your biggest fans won’t be happy about this new il nino. And get help bro, a good therapist to help you over came this thing.
