ill nino should have changed their name. It's a different band now. Old ill nino was unique and special. Now they are just dragging a bag of old stuff. LATG Is fresh and a familiar sound at the same time. I wish them all luck.

Your new music is trash and you say that L.A.T.G. Material sounds like Dead New World which was arguably your best album and a direction a lot of your fans wished you would keep going in. I actually enjoyed the song Sangre..having said that, being as the band split in half, it would have been more respectful to us fans if neither sides used the Ill Nino masthead. You say you’re ready to move on but you’re moving on whilst using the name of a band that disintegrated years ago. Ill nino is dead and the best part of it formed Lions at the Gate.
Revolución was their best album all they were doing in 2010 was trash for whites and loosing their real spirit , dead new world was generic like every other band out there keep listen machados new emo Shit!🤦

It was a quite better response from Laz. The only thing I disagree bout, his him hyping the new lead singer. LatG have released better two singles than the current Ill Nino put out. Just to be fair, Ill Nino will not be the same. And as for LatG, they won’t have that Ill Nino sound flavor like previous. They won’t sound best without eachother. I’ll put it that way.
Pierre, I totally respect how you ask “blunt” questions, and Laz was able to respond and give his “you know” response. What I like is, you showed him what Cristian said, and it’s like you’re bringing almost like a truce between them since they don’t contact eachother.I’m pretty sure they heard each other’s new music but don’t want to admit it. They both had a similar response to your question.
To be honest, I would rather them make peace with eachother, instead of holding a grudge with eachother. Cause life is short. 💁🏽♂️

Despite what happened, and this is easy for me to say bc I wasn't there none of us were, but LATG and Ill Niño can be in competition with each other, lift one another or let it be and move on. For me as a fan, it's about the legacy that is Ill Niño as it was.
That said, I'm not too keen on the new singer, or their new music but I'll always listen to 20 years of legacy. And from what I've heard of LATG I love it and can't wait for the first album to drop🖤

This may be a controversial opinion, but there's room in my music collection for both bands. I get why so many fans equate ill nino with Cristian predominantly, but clearly things were not working behind the scenes and the two halves needed to do their own thing. Some fans may think both bands are now weaker for the split, but I actually think it will make both bands better. Bands need to play the music they're passionate about. If there's no passion, then the music will suffer. I don't want ill nino's music to be forced. I want all members past and present to be happy.

lol well the music has done the talking, just look at the comments on both band’s latest song. Almost all the ill nino fans are disappointed. Fans keep asking for any updates on this new album & they either don’t answer or just delete the comment. It’s like they don’t even respect their fans, but still expect respect from them smh

I would have supported both bands but Dave and the current Ill Niño left a sour taste in my mouth and for that, I support Cris, Ahrue and Diego 100%.
Bssically, around the time it was made public that 3 members were leaving, many fans' comments were deleted to make it look like everyone was on Dave and co's side. My comment, for example...I posted something about the fact that I will miss Cristian as he was a big part of Ill Niño for me but still wished the "new" Ill Niño well. So it wasn't disrespectful and it wasn't taking sides. My comment was removed and I was banned from the Ill Niño FB page. I DM'ed Dave Chavarri because I was actually quite disgusted by this...I had been an Ill Niño fan for many years, supporting them, buying ALL their CDs and some merch and stuff...I mean, I was crazy about Ill Niño. And they blocked me in a split second. You don't treat your loyal fans like that and when I approached Dave about it, he blamed the supposed person in charge of their FB page and promised to have me unbanned. To this day, I am still banned. Dave and co. handled their internal beef by taking it out on their fanbase (the very reason they even exist), and for that, I will no longer support or listen to the current Ill Niño.
I believe you man. You know why? Because I got the same shit from Dave or whoever runs their social media. Im still blocked on their Facebook haha... Anyway, I try to focus on the music. Thanks for watching!

Well, can't say nothing about what really happened with them, but illniño was better with Chris, the new guy isn't that bad, but to my personal taste doesn't fit in at all. At the other hand we have Lions At the Gate, not even human had my attention, very catchy chorus, but too much simple, scapegoat I kinda liked but got me disappointed, I was expecting more. I'm really interested in see what latg have to offer but, I'm not with high expectations.
Honestly, seems like both parties have just gotten weaker. I don't think either band will really ever be able to produce the magic that old Ill Nino was able to produce. Of course, this is just my opinion. I still rock out to the songs that both bands have put out. But old Ill Nino smokes both for me. As it stands, new Ill Nino seems to have run out of creativity. "IllMortals" may very well be the worst name for an Ill Nino album that I've ever heard. It's like they have something to prove. May I suggest "STiLL RELEVANT"? And the music videos are even worse. Old Ill Nino's music videos were already weird, but seeing them headbang with dreadlocks was, at the very least, mesmerizing. But they literally did their best to wipe any hint of nappy-headedness from the band. "How Can I Live", "What You Deserve", and "Finger Painting (with the Enemy)" (for anybody who was lucky enough to see the animation) are among my favorites for sure, since they at least have interesting build ups and the energy is real. These new videos just look like they're trying too hard. Like they have to force feed the meaning into your throat because the music isn't doing the talking (ironic). Lions at the Gate is doing fairly meh in the music video department as well, but it follows the simple formula we're already used to. Now, that might sound biased, but personally, I'd rather just see the band rock out for 3 minutes than have some half-assed story with terrible acting and like 10 seconds of the song being cut out to include unnecessary dialogue. Sue me. As far as the actual music goes (arguably the most important part), what I said before still stands: the magic of old Ill Nino isn't there. Mind you, both bands are trying to stray from being the same old thing. So in that respect, they are doing a great job. Both bands are something you can easily rock out to. Lyrically, I think Ill Nino is going stronger. But Lions at the Gate is doing a much better job at being unique and fresh. Lions at the Gate is very chorus heavy and seems to rely on Cristian's voice to give those lyrics any power. Not to say I like new Ill Nino's lyrics either. They go more into detail, but also lack the intrigue of having any kind of decent symbolism. It probably could've been looked over if Cristian was doing the vocals, but I can't help but feel like I'm listening to something basic. And that's 100% bias on me. Marcos is a phenomenal fuckin' singer, but he's got some hoops to jump through if he wants to become the new sound of Ill Nino. That's all I'm saying. As for the beef between them, they just gotta get over it. Personally, I feel like Cristian is doing way better in that department. The way he talks and his overall vibe seems much more at peace with what he's saying. Laz, on the other hand, can't seem to keep eye contact for more than a second unless he's telling us to let the music do the talking. And the constant use of "you know" just makes him appear nervous. Now, that could very easily just be his mannerisms, but he still seemed pretty quick to get defensive. Regardless, as long as neither of them are going after each others throats, it's fine. The whole thing is ridiculous, so them just getting back to what they're good at (making music) is for the best.

Hmm it has changed though. I haven't cared for the past couple of albums. Nothing has caught my attention. With every great band comes a great frontman. And while the band was hreat Christian was that centerpiece. I didn't even know he was in another band until today but I knew it was him through that voice. He is one singer with a very distinct voice. And thats very hard to find these days in a world of copy and past front men/bands. You need that type of star power to drive a band further to success. Christian has it and I think LATG have an interesting career in front of em.

So yes Cris lost his clean voice some & gained 60 lbs but the new songs are his style ….he really created a unique style with the alternating English/Spanish lyrics …. I saw shattered sun with soul fly and soilwork… they sounded good …. so marcos is a good singer …. But I don’t blame Cris for having the opinions he does , because they basically took his style of writing and continued it.

Personally, I wish the split would have happened ages ago. They're petty drama & biases aside, the split allows Ill Nino to go back to the Latin Metal stuff, and Ahrue to write whatever modern stuff he wants.
From what I've heard, both bands have put out considerably better music recently than they have in all of their career post-Confessions (with Dead New World being the only exception). It was cringe how Ill Nino was trying to fit trends.
Now that we have Marc Rizzo back in the picture as well, it's only uphill from here.
I’m very surprised how many people are commenting how much better they think LATG sounds. I feel Ill Nino sounds more like they use to originally with the new lineup. When I first found out they split I thought Christian was going to be irreplaceable and that his absence would cripple the band. However Marcos holds his own very well and does an outstanding job of covering the vocals of previous songs (I’ve seen them live recently). With new songs Marcos revives the classic vocals. Cristian took credit for a lot of lyrics of the songs from his own life experiences so it does feel a bit odd hearing those songs by a new lead but you have to remember when those songs are being played it’s still a part of the bands history and Marcos isn’t trying to one up Christian. He’s just trying to satisfy the fans who might’ve missed the opportunity to see them live before and are long time fans. I wish the best for both!!

His bass playing was nothing to really write home about. Cristians vocals and the Latin infused guitar parts are the heart of Ill Niño. They could've replaced him at any point in time since he didn't bring nothing special to the table in terms of playing ability.
