Love it when your brothers tease you! I have 3 brothers and no sisters and we had lots of laughs growing up! I’m happy to hear about your beautiful traditions regarding boyfriends, marriage etc ! Thanks for sharing that. You know I always wanted a pierced nose starting when I was maybe 14 yrs old (i am now soon to be 63), but even for a lil hippie it would not have been allowed and I did not want to embarrass my family. Soon as I moved away at 18 for University I did it! Its a very personal thing you know.. how you change your body either by modifications like tattoos or piercings. Even wearing your hair in dread locs, which I did not do until my parents passed away. Its nobody’s business, like my wise Granny use to say its between you and God. Bottom line is God loves you no less no matter what. Thanks for the recipes too, although I’m vegan, I like to tweak recipes to fit my own moral convictions. I wanted to ask you if Passover is observed as a holy day in your church? (Passover today 🙌🏻) Also, do you do anything special during holy week as we call it in my faith which is Episcopal. I know you have traditions for Easter! God’s peace to you and your colony! ✌🏻
today is actually the Sunday that a lot of our young people are getting baptized. there is no certain age that you do it, you go when you are ready. so even though the colonies have people getting baptized every year it doesn't happen at every colony every year (hopefully I didn't confuse you with the way I explained it) I think its been three years since we have had one. oh yeah I'm sure you can tweek the recipes so that they suit you I'm sure they will be good either way. yes that's true God will always love you. Nope not confused a lot of my family are Baptists and they get Baptized after they accept Jesus as their Savior, no matter their age ... like 8yrs old and above. Often times also baptized around Easter. So I’m totally familiar with that tradition and its beautiful. I’m not saying the doctrines surrounding the Baptists and Hutterites are the same, I’m sure there is more to it. I just love observing other Jewish and Christian traditions throughout the seasons. I would love to travel to Israel some day. Just to observe all three of the big religions that are from the Old Testament. I also hope you do not misunderstand my musings. They are not all super well thought out! hahah God Bless!
Hi Giselle Just started following a wee bit ago & trying tae get caught up. Loves it !!! Does anyone ever take the time tae tell you how absolutely Lovely you look today? I sure hope so ? What a joy you are tae watch, hopefully I will get caught Up sometime Your new friend Cameron.
Chaffles are normally made with cheese and eggs which are cooked first like a waffle, then Stuffing is added. It is easier to cook that way. They would be great for your brother. No flour!
Hey hon! I’ve just discovered your channel a week or two ago and I’m loving all your vlogs so much. Because this is an older video you may have already answered this question at another time, but I was just curious, I know you have 2 brothers that I’ve heard you talk about but do you have any other siblings?
I have recently started watching ur videos. I love learning about other cultures & religions..... I do have a question, or 2,....I follow another you tuber, her name is Adina Walter, do u know her? Where do u live? & How old r u? How many brothers & sisters do u have?? Now that I have asked way to many questions, let me tell u about myself.... My name is Misty, I live in Alabama, I will b 60 in Aug., I am married, 39 years, we have 2 kids, & 4 grandkids...we r truly blessed..... That's a little bit about myself. I can't wait until ur next video..... I'm trying to watch all ur videos to get caught up.....lol I pray u & ur family have a blessed day.....
Thank you for the videos. I find them very interesting as it is always interesting to see how others live. Does your colony farm as well as run the manufacturing business?
a bride has four different dresses for a wedding and the ladies and the girls also get a special one to wear to the occasion. but, the bride has to have one blue one that she wears at the huhzeit the celebration at the grooms colony. as for head scarf nope always black, we really don't mind black goes good with every colour.
You should write and publish your own children s books on how to be an obedient Hutterite child in a colony, on duties, and happiness and gratefullness. You d do a great job!
Hi Giselle, I'm curious about housing on the colony :-) I saw the layout of your houses and community buildings that you showed (from up in the air) in another vlog (the aerial shots in that video were so beautiful, what a really neat thing to do!), but I don't know how you could add more houses to your colony without ruining the thoughtful design that's in place for everything now, with the houses in a circle around the community buildings. - In the aerial view it looked like all of the houses were the same (except for one house that was much smaller, maybe it wasn't a house), do the houses all look the same on the outside but are built different inside? So that some have only one family and some have two families, etc? - Does everyone continue to live with their parents if they are not married, no matter how old they are? Or are men and women able to get their own house if they are not married after a certain age? - Do newly married couples ever live with the husband's parents, or do they always get a house of their own? - When a couple is going to get married, is a new house built for them? Or do they sometimes move into an empty house that used to be someone else's home (for example, if the people who used to live there got old and passed away)? - When a couple first gets married and has no children they don't need a big house (and older couples whose children have grown up, married, and moved into their own home don't need a big house either), so do people move into a bigger house as they have more children, and into a smaller house when their children grow up and get married? Thank you (it is a lot of questions) :-)
a circle is not the best idea even though it does look good when the time comes that we need more houses we are going to have to build behind the circle already standing. yes for the most part they are the same. the newer ones are alike, the older ones are the same so one whenever we build the houses are identical. some are smaller for families that have fewer members. if there is no house when a couple gets married they live with the parents until one becomes available. most houses on our colony have had multiple families so no they don't get a new house unless we really need one but, if needed it gets touched up before the couple moves in. yes the last question is correct the big houses are left for the families with more children and the summer ones for grandparents and couple that at the moment only have one child. no worries abut the questions I hope I answered them all.
@@gisellewaldner9406 Thank you, Giselle, only one question was not answered :-) can someone get a house of their own after a certain age even if they are not married, or do they have to live with parents always? And two new questions: - Are married couples allowed to use birth control? - Are married couples ever allowed to divorce? Thank you again :-) :-)

I had to jump ahead to see your today's vlog (have still about 7 or so to dig through, coz I read even the comments not only fighting the annoying YT commercials every 2 and 5 minutes). Was wondering if the questions got to you thru comments here or how? I don't have face-book if that's the way 😒
the questions were asked here in the comments I know that quite a few people are interested in knowing about getting a boyfriend and marriages and its just easier to explain in a video as there is usually quite a bit to tell.
@@gisellewaldner9406 I just read them now sorry my bad was behind, but I#m getting there🙂 As to the marriages courtship etc. I would be much interested to know how would it work between outsiders (non-Hutterites) wanting to marry a Hutterite. Would there have to be a Baptism into Hutterite faith? Etc...
so funny....your getting ready to go works completely opposite of ours.....first it was 11:45, then it was 11:30, now its 11:00......works the opposite in my family, we say one time and about an hour later, we go....Also....did you know, that staring at a computer screen can make your eyes hurt, i think they make glasses for it maybe, might be something to look into!!
@@gisellewaldner9406 or not at all! People should understand that just because you share you lifestyle with us on social media, you are under no obligation to tell us everything! Sure, they can always ask, but they must also accept no for an answer!
Thank you so much for explaining your wedding traditions. I have two questions for you. Do the bride and groom wear a special dress or suit for the day? Do they exchange wedding rings? Or is there another symbol of showing your marital status? Cultural differences are so fascinating.❤️
I have noticed in reading the comments you get that there quite a few who keep asking about your tattoos. If you are comfortable answering do so. But I think it’s a personal issue so if you feel that way too, you should feel free to just state it’s personal and won’t be addressed.
Kathryn Helm, In the spirit of genuine Christian love - would it also be a personal issue and nobody's business if I put a bumper sticker on my car? If tattoos are meant to be personal and private, maybe best to display them in such a place to avoid embarrassment and the need for further explanation.
Ya I think it’s pretty obvious Giselle got it while she was away from the colony but I think people are just curious what the meaning of it is. But that can be personal so she may or may not want to share!
So if the marriage is between two people from same colony, does bride still get a week off work to set up new household? Looks like you folks have duplexes...if there is no empty abode for a new couple, do you build one?
I could lay here all night and listen to you talk. But I need to sleep. About marriage, the man that is lucky enough to marry you will be the most blessed man in the world. Good night. God bless you.
@@gisellewaldner9406 Yes I think so too. Please forgive my bugging but could you try for let's say a week or so to get off sugar and coffee, drink some good tea instead sweetened with honey? And see if that would have effect or not, then you can go back to your habits if you want, just give it a try please! I wish I know more symptoms I could have asked my sister in my home country she is MD.
I Giselle, I just found your channel last night. I wasn't sure if you were a Mennonite or not. Then I seen that you are Hutterite, which I knew nothing of yet. Very interesting! I actually have started attending a Mennonite church in my area and have been following them on You Tube. It showed your channel. So hey! You are such a pretty girl. I think it is neat how you have left twice and returned. I do understand that. I was not raised in church, but I found Jesus when I was 25yrs old and started studying my Bible. I have been to many different church denominations. Many. They are all unique in ways, but I have found the most close knit family feel in a Mennonite church. If you ever decide to leave again, I really believe you would like the Mennonite Christians. I know some Amish who have gone Mennonite and it is a beautiful balance of freedom in Christ and also a very close community of family there. May God direct your steps according to His will for you, in Jesus Name Amen.
@@gisellewaldner9406 You are so sweet. Thank you. We enjoy your videos! I have a channel too, but I'm not good at it at all. I embarasss myself as I can be a dork! Lol.
Hello Giselle, I enjoyed seeing your vlog very much. I am curious about some things. My understanding of Hutterite communities is that individualism is shunned as well as personal possessions, freedom of expression etc. Yet when I saw your vlog you are full of life, dress modestly but modernly, have many of the same possessions as any other north american family. You dont seem to have many restrictions upon your activities other than the energy to do them. Would you please explain the difference in viewpoints. Thank you in advance.
I'm happy to hear that you enjoy the Vlogs. something that everyone should know is that there are three different groups of Hutterites. we do things very differently from each other, our viewpoints and how we go about our daily life is different including how we dress, even though there are still a lot of things that are the same from group to group we think differently. the group I come from from all live in Manitoba and the US, the other two groups are located in Alberta and Saskatchewan. our group is very liberal when it comes to almost everything. I hope I answered your question I should defiantly put it in a video as it might be bit easier to explain.
@@gisellewaldner9406 Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. I had no idea that there was such diversity in the Hutterites. I definitely favor your brand. It was shocking to me to see a Hutterite vlogging. Now I understand. Thank you.
Giselle,I noticed how sore your hands look. Do your gloves you wear when preparing food, have latex in them? You may be allergic to latex. Also with your hands in water so much that can cause sore hands,at bedtime rub A and D ointment with a bit of antibiotic ointment, like Neosporin on your hands, rub it in very well and put cotton gloves on your hands,it should help heal them. A and D ointment is usually used on a babies bottom to protect from diaper rash,it makes a barrier. You could also use white socks on your hands at night. Hope this info helps
thank you for your suggestions I make sure that the gloves I wear are latex free but, I do often wear rubber gloves and the ones we have are not so that could be part of my problem.
@@gisellewaldner9406 Yes that might be part of the problem. I wonder if you could find some thin cotton gloves that you would wear first then the rubber gloves on top so that the skin would not be in contact with the rubber/latex/whatever it is. Cotton is skin friendly, when I wear some non-cotton socks I get the mildew/red skin problem on my feet immediately.
I use a cream called UDDERLY SMOOTH THAT IS SIMILAR TO BAG BALM on my hands and elbows as they get very dry and sore at times. Also lanolin cream or petroleum jelly rubbed on then covered w clean cotton gloves before you go to bed may help. I hope no one in your lovely colony has caught civic and you are all able to get vaccinated. Just finished second Moderns and did well. Thank you for your fun vlogs!
Just wondering if you have church every day, I seen it was 5.36 when you went for a walk, maybe its earlier, I know back home its 5.30 when they go to church
yup high school for everyone and if someone wants to become a teacher (we always need more) then you can do that and for other jobs like plumber, electrician etc. they also go to school.

No flour!
Does Kona always have to stay outside? Is she allowed inside when the weather is cold?
Beautiful vlog ❤ I love it
Thank you 😊
Hey hon! I’ve just discovered your channel a week or two ago and I’m loving all your vlogs so much. Because this is an older video you may have already answered this question at another time, but I was just curious, I know you have 2 brothers that I’ve heard you talk about but do you have any other siblings?
Does your family go on vacation. Or a get away . A holiday of some sort ? Just curious.
no not really, we call a vacation visiting relatives for a week, its always relaxing so I guess its kind of like a mini vacation.
@@gisellewaldner9406 how many ppl are in your community. And what is the major manufacturing your colony does .
We have around 115 people and we manufacture firetrucks.
I'm trying to watch all ur videos to get caught up.....lol
I pray u & ur family have a blessed day.....
Thank you for the videos. I find them very interesting as it is always interesting to see how others live. Does your colony farm as well as run the manufacturing business?
you're welcome. yes we do both
The scarf is it just pinned to your hair or is it tied to your hair? Wat is the significance to wearing it?
I left the colony 20 years ago..i do miss the food ..and of course family. ..PS. You work to hard
oh yes family and food are things that do a soul good.
@@gisellewaldner9406 Absolutely true. In my native language we have a saying (translated): Love goes through the stomach 😀
What do you wear for the wedding? Do you wear a white dress? Can you wear a different color head scarf? Love your blog ❤️
a bride has four different dresses for a wedding and the ladies and the girls also get a special one to wear to the occasion. but, the bride has to have one blue one that she wears at the huhzeit the celebration at the grooms colony. as for head scarf nope always black, we really don't mind black goes good with every colour.
Thank you for taking the time to answer❣️🤗 Love your videos, especially when you are cooking.😋😋
I eat ketogenic diet and the Chaffles are a go to 😍
You should write and publish your own children s books on how to be an obedient Hutterite child in a colony, on duties, and happiness and gratefullness. You d do a great job!
Just wondering do you people still sing morng and oband German songs at home .Before breakfast and after supper at home?
yup, we do :)
Your colony has so much! Buildings, equipment, etc. Do you have businesses or goods for sale?
during the summer months we sell the produce that we grow
ypu made a good video again thank you god bless.
thank you God bless you
Hi Giselle, I'm curious about housing on the colony :-)
I saw the layout of your houses and community buildings that you showed (from up in the air) in another vlog (the aerial shots in that video were so beautiful, what a really neat thing to do!), but I don't know how you could add more houses to your colony without ruining the thoughtful design that's in place for everything now, with the houses in a circle around the community buildings.
And two new questions:
- Are married couples allowed to use birth control?
- Are married couples ever allowed to divorce?
Thank you again :-) :-)
No you can't get a house of your own after a certain age.
As for divorce nope
Birth control I have to ask about that one.
@@gisellewaldner9406 Thank you :-)
I like the lay out of the houses and the community buildings, it should be used for retirement living.
How is the housing worked out, eg: a newly married couple who might need a home?
they usually get a smaller house if we have one available if not they live with the parents until we have one thats ready to move into.
Love books too 📚

Also would you do a day in life of your parents?
I can ask them that could be interesting.
Why you removed the vlog #51? Hoped you share a new one again..

You forgot to tell us about your tattoo. Love your videos 👏
all in good time :)
Cultural differences are so fascinating.❤️
oh yes for every one of the different celebrations that I talked about there is a different dress so four in total.
I have noticed in reading the comments you get that there quite a few who keep asking about your tattoos. If you are comfortable answering do so. But I think it’s a personal issue so if you feel that way too, you should feel free to just state it’s personal and won’t be addressed.
Yes, I feel the same. I have a memorial tattoo for my husband and some days I don’t feel like explaining. Just too personal and painful.
Kathryn Helm, In the spirit of genuine Christian love - would it also be a personal issue and nobody's business if I put a bumper sticker on my car? If tattoos are meant to be personal and private, maybe best to display them in such a place to avoid embarrassment and the need for further explanation.
I am 66 and have 6 tattoos that mean something to me not anyone else I have had them since my 40’s
thank you for this
Ya I think it’s pretty obvious Giselle got it while she was away from the colony but I think people are just curious what the meaning of it is. But that can be personal so she may or may not want to share!

Hallo
I have finally caught up!
Yay :)
So if the marriage is between two people from same colony, does bride still get a week off work to set up new household? Looks like you folks have duplexes...if there is no empty abode for a new couple, do you build one?
Do you mean Dancing Shuffle? Is Dancing permitted?
I could lay here all night and listen to you talk. But I need to sleep.
About marriage, the man that is lucky enough to marry you will be the most blessed man in the world. Good night. God bless you.
why thank you God bless you

Your tattoos are no one’s business but your own and you never, ever need to explain any of it to anyone.
Cheers from New Jersey!
High blood sugar can effect your eyes sometimes .. just a thought 😊
that though didn't even cross my mind something to think on
@@gisellewaldner9406 Yes I think so too.
May God direct your steps according to His will for you, in Jesus Name Amen.
welcome, welcome I'm happy that you are here. that's interesting I'm glad that you found a place that you are comfortable at. God bless you.

Those eggs/waffle/omelets you made looked delicious! 😃
They are! I think everyone should try them.
Thank you.
@@rogerkerr5745 your welcome 😊
Are you allowed to ride the horses ?
one of our ladies is training them so she rides them but, no I haven't yet.
Just wondering if you have church every day, I seen it was 5.36 when you went for a walk, maybe its earlier, I know back home its 5.30 when they go to church
we go to church at 6 but, that day we didn't have any. yes there are days when we don't have church but, we do go quite frequently.
What is the custom for your education? High school for both boys and girls?
yup high school for everyone and if someone wants to become a teacher (we always need more) then you can do that and for other jobs like plumber, electrician etc. they also go to school.
