As cattle and sheep farmers we’ve long been aware of the verse that gives us permission to pull the ox out of the ditch on the sabbath if it were to fall into it. For instance my husband missed church today in order to harvest as much hay as he can before the remnants of hurricane Ida pour through our valley. It would be a shame to watch the hay waste in a downpour.

Girl, I can not tell you how proud I am of your strength. What an example of not letting emotions get in the way of an ignorant comment, but going right to scripture and present it with a loving spirit. BRAVO!

  • @ambriagriffin

You addressed that comment beautifully! I adore that you sincerely thanked the commenter for bringing it up. If we stay in our word, God will give us all answers. Please remember, Giselle, your platform brings peace, light, and a vision of God's love. I pray that you understand there will be critics of each of us - look at the judgement toward Jesus in the exact verse you read - and never grow discouraged in sharing with us. The purity of your vlogs will do just as we are instructed: bring lost souls to The Lord. God bless you, young lady. 💞

I truly love watching your vlogs! Even more, I love how you read and live scripture in the context as it is written. My husband is sometimes required to work on Sundays. After our services, he goes to work. Thank you for sharing your life and love for God🙏🏼❤

Your rebuttal on the comment about Sunday work was perfect. Life is not perfect, sometimes we have to do things, out of need or safety, that go against our normal routine, wants or belief. We do the absolute best we can and improve if possible. God loves us despite our flaws and because of our persistence. Shame on a person for criticizing without knowing the complete story.
PS- I also love halva, have tried to make it several times but cannot get it right.

I was first introduced to Hutterites when visiting family in Montana. I was raised around Amish in Pennsylvania. I asked a Hutterite woman about her head covering, and she said in their colony, all the girls in the same family wear the same fabric print for a head covering when they go out. They were not black, so after looking around at different families that we seen in the area, we then noticed the different prints of the head coverings. Is this something you have seen around you? Love watching your videos. My great aunt just sent me a book on Hutterites in Montana. I am enjoying reading it.

We just put cabbage heads to sour last week, 500 pounds. My mom sells the leaves to caterers for cabbage rolls. And we buy the heads from our local Hutterite colony, the cabbage is really nice! Thank you for the vlog glad you’re back this week 😊

Yaaay! Giselle is baaaack! (I really missed you!! hug hug hug)
We used to eat Halva at Christmas when I was growing up. My dad would get a huge slab of the white halva, like the one you're eating (and to this day I still prefer white halva over chocolate), a big enough slab to last a week or two even with 10 of us kids (and even with all us kids shaving slivers off the sides whenever adults weren't around :-) Nowadays I only think to buy it once every few years (and usually only if I accidentally happen to see it on a grocery store shelf - where I live it's sold usually in the ethnic food section as "Halwah"), but it is still as delicious a treat as when I was a kid :-) I'm going to put it on my shopping list right now!
Very gracious answer re: working on Sunday. Sometimes you just HAVE to work on Sunday. Animals always need to be taken care of, and so do children, the elderly, and the sick. And tables have to be laid for meals with a clean up after, and so on. My understanding is that the day was put aside by God to ensure hard working people got a regular and much needed rest from their endless labours, and God's only admonishment was that people treat the day with honor and respect and not waste it on work that did not absolutely have to be done. It was not made a day of rest in order to create yet another sin for hardworking people who really did have to do work, it was intended as a truly precious gift with God's only requirement being that it be treated as the precious gift it is and not be ignored or tossed away as if it meant nothing. One of the issues in today's world is that so many people think they have to be busy ALL the time and never take a day (and sometimes not even an hour!) on a regular basis to just rest, but we ALL need time to rest.
Thank you, Giselle, I'm glad you're back, and I'm already looking forward to your next vlog (oooh, I'm a little behind in watching, and I see it's already available, yaay)!
    ❤️

WOEHOEEEE, a new vlog from Giselle! A great present for my birthday. Can't wait to watch it (which wil be tomorrow because right now it's time for me to go to bed, but I have something to look forward to). I was watching your previous vlogs because I haven't seen them all (and was missing your weekly vlog 😜) and I was wandering about your headcovering/motivations (I've started covering recently which is a rare thing in the Netherlands) and if i should ask you to do a vlog about them. And now, you did! Happy with it and can't wait to watch it. Also very happy that your computer issues are solved. Thanks Giselle!

I’ve watched this vlog lots of times simply because it inspires me to be a better person and to be grateful for all that our Heavenly Father has blessed us with! As for working on Sunday…it’s all depending upon what day you believe to be the “Sabbath”, technically it was considered Friday at sundown to Saturday sundown…(Sunday was/is considered the first day of the week) Either way I agree, the Savior does talk about doing what must be done on a Sabbath day! I know my family honor the Sabbath on Saturdays mostly by doing only the things what we must do, we relax, rest, spend time with family, indulge ourselves in Reading the scriptures, devotionals, reading, praying, letting go of our worries and concerns but mostly the time is spent to unwind and prepare to begin a new work week. Now as for Sunday we go to church and spend time with family, do whatever work we may have to do but generally it’s still a very laid back day. Thank you so much for all of your Vlogs…it always helps me in so many ways!!🤗🤗❤️❤️

My Nana who was born a Mennonite but left, used to make me a cabbage and noodle dish that was amazing! I make it too! Not as good as hers… she fries the cabbage chopped up in browned butter with garlic and salt and pepper, then throws in some no yolks noodles and mixes it all together. It’s so savory and delicious! God knows our hearts. Sometimes work on Sunday is necessary. First responders, hospital workers etc.. have no choice and mothers must cook for their families so no judgement here. Glad you addressed it for the judgemental among us but it wasn't necessary to explain it. I challenge people to take a look in the Bible when things like that come up. The world can be a very judgemental place so thank you for opening your life up for us to see. That takes courage and I'm thankful I found your channel. Wow, that's a lot of cabbages. But the many hands make light work! We love kraut and make it too. Three weeks ago I stopped at our local farmers market and bought cucs for pickles and an enormous cauliflower from the Hutterites. I fermented the cucumbers with dill and garlic and they turned out delicious - they won't last long. I agree with you on Sunday - works of necessity and mercy are always permitted. Many of the strict Sabbath laws pertained to Old Testament Israel only I think. They were not even allowed to light a fire on the Sabbath. In our northern climate it would not have been possible to survive like that. The New Testament doesn't have all those rules.

Hi Giselle - I've thought of some questions.... where do you eat on Saturday and Sunday? what is someone doesn't like what is served Monday - Friday? Could they eat at home? How often do you get to go in town? Are you able to leave the community and go shopping whenever you want? How many families are in your community? Do you interact with others more often than some?

I've forgotten the exact amount we've canned. LOL I see you have had some rain. So have we, and every drop a blessing from Above. Giselle, in your defense. I worked for Chick-fil-A and they may not be open to the public on Sundays, but that does not stop them for requiring employees to be in the store on Sundays. We had to attend meetings pertaining to the business and clean the store on Sundays. We were hourly workers, but we also were not allowed to check in on the computer system, so we had no way of checking if our pay was correct.
So, if someone wishes to criticize you for one Sunday of work, I hope they, while downing their chicken sandwiches, remember what CFA does to their workers and what their clever advertising leads the public to believe. Just because the doors are not open for sales does not mean they are adhering to the teachings of the Bible.

How in the world did you get cactus up there? I wish we would get some of that rain😉.I'm afraid our dryness is not going to let our pretty fall colors come about.Glad to see your vlog! Take care.Hugs from USA

Whoop, whoop! I’m so happy for your vlog! Yes, our Apple trees have been prematurely dropping their apples too. Your garden looks pretty good for a drought year. What are the dimensions of your shawls? I would like to try my hand at making a few for personal use. I was thinking maybe half of a 27” square, or is that too small? I just don’t know and hate to waste good fabric. Thank you, Giselle for all the effort and time you put into creating each vlog. ❤️

Hi Giselle, I'm curious. What made you leave the colony, how long were you away, and what made you return? You may have already addressed this but I'm fairly new here, so I'm curious and I'm sure others will be too. Thank you. Dee from New Zealand ❤

Paisano's Roost Farm (American Blackbelly Sheep) in Southern New Mexico: Those were just little bitty prickly pear cacti. We have cow's tongue prickly pear cactus and the pads are longer than 1 foot or 30 cm. Prickly pear is used for cattle feed, the pads can be grilled/fried, the fruit or tunas are turned in to jelly, candy, or juice. A farmer or rancher has no days off. If it's Sunday and the guard donkey is grazing in the Rio Grande flood plain and the five rams have escaped and are talking to the ewes, we will be getting everyone back into the ram pasture

Those bonnets are adorable. Great video G! I’ve never heard of Halva, it must b extremely rich. Reminds me of a vegan ice cream store in Austin, Tx, called Sweet Ritual were the base is sunflower seeds.

Wish I could find huge cabbages around here like those. I just got through freezing peaches, too! Have a great weekend! Hugs 💜💜💜
