I think they did something similar at MIT or Harvard, it’s an old video. This is just a compilation of old videos that I’ve seen before.

The information is more accessible than ever yet people are less knowledgeable than ever.
Its not a issue of acces. Its a systemic problem of culture and education. People are taught different values. And education is subpar for way too many people. Knowing the nursery rhyme "Jack and Jill" is also not important. What type of animal is a koala...an animal that doesn't even reside in the U.S is also not important. Almost all of these questions are trivia questions that for some reason make other people who know them feel better than others for knowing them. It's like an ego trip.

It's not the responsibility of the teacher to force students to retain what is being taught. If that were the case, then all teachers would be ashamed because there is ALWAYS at least one student who ends up failing, and more often than not, students who excel. The students should be ashamed of themselves if they're unable to answer most of these extremely easy questions.

The teachers accomplished what they were told to do.
Real education happens at home. School accounts for maybe 5% of my general knowledge. These kids were failed by their family, and their own lack of curiosity.
One good thing to keep in mind is that these videos are cherrypicked and edited for the most laughs, if you were to try this the results would still be dissappointing but much better on average.

The question, “If your mom had 4 children and 3 of them were named ‘North,’‘South,’ and ‘East,’ what would the 4th be named” is a logical trap and doesn’t work. The logical answer would be “West” and the “correct” answer is supposed to be whatever your name is.
The problem is that the question starts in hypothetical fantasy land, so it’s more likely that my name would be West, not John. Also, it only kind of works with Only-Children. If I have a sister named “Jane,” then the question already assumes that either I or my sibling has been renamed for the purpose of the question. This means that I would also likely be renamed to fit the scheme, making the most likely name being “West.”
If you consider that the answer is supposed to be the actual name of the subject being asked, then the name doesn’t fit the scheme of cardinal directions, and any name can be correct since the question is based on a hypothetical.
