yes, but the answer provided was based on alternate science standard to include impact/effect, not just volume level. So Blue Whale is technically right and wrong. Loudest by volume level is the Sperm Whale. This is not to take away from him looking it up and returning, he deserved the money for that alone. Here is an example. 9mm Gunshot and lets say Church bells. A 9mm gunshot will register louder in volume, 160 db, but has a short impact, being heard about a mile away. While the Church bell with a much lower volume of 70-120 db depending on height, will have a further reaching impact as much as 6 miles away. (Near to ground levels would register about 70 db and still carry at least a mile.) Someone miles away hearing a Bell and not a gunshot would say the Bell is louder which is truly not the case. So it is a matter of the science standard being used for determination. Hope this helps.
@@chrish7336 I thought that you measure the sound the same, only that the sound dissipates the farther you are removed from it, and thus reaching conclusions of which object makes a louder noise.
@@fz7694 How far a sound travels has more to do with the sound frequency and atmospheric/Material interference more than its actual volume. This is why I used the example of the gun and the Church bell. At the point of the sound the Gun is louder on a decibel meter. However the effects of the Church bell are further reaching, the sound travels further thus making the readings a mile a way show the church bells are louder. This is just like the measurements between the whales. The Sperm whale makes a louder sound when measured, but the Blue whale's call travels further. So its a matter of which method of testing you are using, not the device you are using. The true method for how loud something is, is at the point of the sound, not how far it travels.
@Boat Way to make assumptions. The majority of people, even in Ivy League colleges, are severely broke and barely make it by. The difference is, most kids in that level of school are harder workers than most, so earning a living while in school comes naturally to them.

From all the students asked, I am SO happy this guy won 11:01, you have no idea how much I was rooting for him, you can tell he has a noble heart. He deserved it. Intelligent Harvard dude.
Measurements have shown that the call of a blue whale can reach 188 dB. So, blue whales are definitely loud, louder than a jet engine. They're just not the loudest. The loudest whale ever recorded is in fact the sperm whale. Sperm Whales = 236 dB
The blue whale, the largest animal on earth, can produce loud whistling calls that reach up to 188 db. These calls can travel up to 500 miles underwater. But the loudest is the sperm whale. It makes a series of clicking noises that can reach as high as 230 db making it the loudest animal in the world. The click lasts for only 15 to 30 milliseconds and can stay audible to a sperm whale as much as 10 miles away.
I searched it up it is actually the sperm whale. It can make a click that goe up to 230 db but the blue whale's song is louder than the sperm whale's. So technically it's the sperm whale because the question is what's the loudest noise regardless of how they make it.
@@Harvyydent While we’ve all heard that blue whales are the loudest animal in the animal kingdom, that’s not exactly true. The sound of a blue whale can, indeed, reach surprisingly high limits. Measurements have shown that the call of a blue whale can reach 188 dB. So, blue whales are definitely loud, louder than a jet engine. They’re just not the loudest. The loudest whale ever recorded is in fact the sperm whale. It communicates with other sperm whales and navigates through clicks that last about 10 milliseconds. The sperm whale is the loudest species of whale, reaching sound levels of over 236 dB.

(Near to ground levels would register about 70 db and still carry at least a mile.)
Someone miles away hearing a Bell and not a gunshot would say the Bell is louder which is truly not the case.
