@@Harvyydent While we’ve all heard that blue whales are the loudest animal in the animal kingdom, that’s not exactly true. The sound of a blue whale can, indeed, reach surprisingly high limits. Measurements have shown that the call of a blue whale can reach 188 dB. So, blue whales are definitely loud, louder than a jet engine. They’re just not the loudest. The loudest whale ever recorded is in fact the sperm whale. It communicates with other sperm whales and navigates through clicks that last about 10 milliseconds. The sperm whale is the loudest species of whale, reaching sound levels of over 236 dB.

@Boat Way to make assumptions. The majority of people, even in Ivy League colleges, are severely broke and barely make it by. The difference is, most kids in that level of school are harder workers than most, so earning a living while in school comes naturally to them.

Measurements have shown that the call of a blue whale can reach 188 dB. So, blue whales are definitely loud, louder than a jet engine. They're just not the loudest. The loudest whale ever recorded is in fact the sperm whale. Sperm Whales = 236 dB
The blue whale, the largest animal on earth, can produce loud whistling calls that reach up to 188 db. These calls can travel up to 500 miles underwater. But the loudest is the sperm whale. It makes a series of clicking noises that can reach as high as 230 db making it the loudest animal in the world. The click lasts for only 15 to 30 milliseconds and can stay audible to a sperm whale as much as 10 miles away.
i think he was wrong tho, cause that article says that the blue whale produces 188 dB while the sperm whale produces 233 and the mantis shrimp up to 200 dB. I don't know why that article pops up first. Seems like different information is all over the place xD!
@@bioshockz if we’re going by technicalities, blue whale would be correct. even though the sperm whale does produce 233 decibels, the noise it creates only comes in short bursts and never travels that far. on the other hand, the blue whale’s 188 decibel noise can be heard over 150 kilometers away, which renders it significantly ahead of the sperm whale on the noise scale (in which the noise scale takes into consideration distance as well as size). this is also why the mantis shrimp is technically quieter than a lion, because even though it produces 200 decibels, it’s only about 50 grams in mass, and the noise it produces to human ears are mere clicks. but if we are purely going off of decibels alone and not taking into consideration size or distance that the sound can travel, sperm whale would be the loudest
Even as a Texan, I said "Alaska!". People keep hearing 'everything is bigger in Texas' so it must have been engrained to assume that translates to land mass. Sorry y'all up there, much love

Hes wrong tho.

@@bioshockz if we’re going by technicalities, blue whale would be correct. even though the sperm whale does produce 233 decibels, the noise it creates only comes in short bursts and never travels that far. on the other hand, the blue whale’s 188 decibel noise can be heard over 150 kilometers away, which renders it significantly ahead of the sperm whale on the noise scale (in which the noise scale takes into consideration distance as well as size).
this is also why the mantis shrimp is technically quieter than a lion, because even though it produces 200 decibels, it’s only about 50 grams in mass, and the noise it produces to human ears are mere clicks.
but if we are purely going off of decibels alone and not taking into consideration size or distance that the sound can travel, sperm whale would be the loudest
even though he was wrong and the sperm whale is still right
As BB once said "I would rather be ruled by the first 100 names in the Boston Phone Book than the members of the Harvard Faculty Lounge". lol
