Summary of the video
Anil Swarup shares anecdotes from his 38-year long career in the Indian administrative service. He talks about how working with public corporations can be a challenge because one has to deal with corruption, the slow-moving processes of the Government as well as one’s own need to make an impact.
Mr. Swarup takes us through his time at the coal ministry, where he was instrumental in digitising the process. He talks about being made in charge of the coal ministry and being asked to work with an organisation mired in scams. He talks about transforming the coal ministry from a liability to an asset. So confident was the new coal ministry, the officers felt that could solve any problem out there.
Next Mr. Swarup tells us about being appointed Secretary of the Ministry of School Education. He shares how various entities tried to take advantage of his relative ignorance of the education sector to give him advice. He finally talks about transforming school education in India by touring 24 states and examining pedagogy and education at the district and village level. He talks about how a new model from a local school at Pashtepada was incorporated by 50,000 schools in Maharashtra to improve attendance.
He finally talks about running the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana - an insurance scheme for the poor in India and the impact it made. If you want to know how to create impact as a civil servant, check out this video.

My wish: I want to live in a India where researchers and scientists will be the celebrities and our youth will listen to a researcher with equal passion and get this amount of views.
Exactly we dont even care about them
Because science is a technical subject and cannot be understood by a random person without prior knowledge. Also because scientists are mostly introverted, they don't generally have the charisma and will to go out and make speeches like this.
🤦♂️Tell me a country where scientists and researcher are more popular than celebs
@@Priyanshusingh-ix7kr New Zealand and Europe bcoz they don't have many celebrities
@@sharan9993
lol New Zealand and Europe does have a lot of world famous celebrities, Lorde, Israel Adesanya etc etc. Just because you don't know doesn't mean they don't exist. Europe have their own celebrities, we don't know them too well only because they don't speak English. Lukas Graham, Icona Pop, Swedish House Mafia, Rammstein, MLTR, Mads Mikkelsen etc are all Europeans.
Now tell me what New Zealander and European scientists do you know?
India is probably the country that obsess the most over their scientists and academicians. From Abdul Kalam, K Sivan, Raman etc, a lot of us learn our Nobel Prize winners by heart. No one else in the world obsess over Elon Musk like Indians do.

Video has wrong title.. he doesn’t share any harsh reality. He is singing song of service and being sarcastic about efficiency in government at the same time.
The insideiim put these title. To get more views rather than motivating or sharing knowledge to aspirants or students.
Title is absolutely correct

You have bright future in writing field
Still india doesn't make progress
This is exactly why I paid my taxes on time so these IAS officers are paid for their valuable services and many more benefits. But not for inefficient government and it’s cabinet ministers.
Not really
Actually most of the IAS officers are more currupt than the ministers
Anil Swaroop , if joined Private sector would have become CEO of BIG IT company -- That person made a difference -- Not IAS as a cadre .. Now , we are glorifying IAS as cadre -- I know 1000s IAS officers who are Burdon on society -- They simply hang around 100 years old rules and regulations and enjoy in corruption -- All IAS officers children study abroad .. Why not make a mandatory rule that IAS officers Children should study only in Govt Schools ? .. Do you know the redundancies in govt functions? Too much -- 70 % state budget goes for salary and wages of Govt Employees -- Daily it woks out be Rs 400 crore only on salary -- Inefficacy is well accepted norm in IAS and one can flourish also
The so called public servants with the IAS tag are primarily responsible for reducing government administration to a synonym for corruption and treason. I can produce enough and more documentary evidence which I have collected using RTI act. In fact the law itself has been subverted by them at all levels and it's only use is in exposing them. The usual exception to every rule applies here too.
@@ravindranpm9564 fully agree. IAS main contribution is legalizing corruption
Great work and Narration...Wish India has more and more IAS officers like You, Sir..👌👌🙏🙏🙏

Amazing sir ,
That's the civil servants, The Hero Of Building Our Nation.
He is one of the finest bureaucrat in India ,his books are gem for everyone
Amazing and inspiring ! Working with passion is what keeps him so happy and proud of his job ! The amount of change one can really bring about in society by being passionate to change the lives of needy people is clearly evident in the success stories he narrates...Also, it adds a lot of positivity and hope to the system of governance, in a world where we keep coming across many negative aspects of it everyday and complain about its operations..Thank u sir for the talk .
Excellent speech,
By the way there are many civilians like me who never came across any public servents😢😢 and never saw developments..
As It is rightly said that "an army of lions led by a sheep will always be defeated by an army of sheep led by the LION." Anil swarup sir is an example of that. 🦁 Thank you sir !!!
@@anandb6822an IAS officer is the main focal point for good governance in our country. A sheep ( person who can't take decision on his own or someone who just obeying the order of the senseless ministers for the sake of his own interests ) seating on such key posts will always obstruct below rank good officers to do their duties loyally. So it is always good to see such person with good leadership qualities ( powerful personality who do not have fear of transfer ) and will always help low rank good officers under his domain and at the same time will force bad and corrupt public servants to do Thier job with loyalty. Lion personality will never come under the influence of ministers.
Ashok khemka sir is one of them.
In team work, team members are always responsible to the team leader. So it's the leader who guide them, make them work and team can not work on it's own. Hope you are having some sense. :)
The army of Lions will first eat the sheep leading the group and then the rest of the army of sheep. Power matters a lot regardless of the direction.
This is such a nice video . It really tells everyone to be selfless, and serve the people in need . At the end the quality of your life comes down to the quality of your contribution.
Absolutely incredible speech, appreciate it

Khatarnaak Kya energy hai, salute to you sir very energetic speech
This guy is pure govt material, the last year's SSC scam and delayed exams scenario, this guy was defending the govt and belittling the hard work of the students.
he is indeed a pure bureaucrat, and he is worth the money of his job, to be the vocal cords of the govt.
Totally agree ias are not managers of the country they are just administrats they apply the law and order not improve or change the system
Exactly right.....
i. Many retired civil servants not just IAS ones said that these services are just for governing, there is no transformation & reformation, only conformation under constitutional & jurisdictional framework......
ii. Very untold fact which most of the incoming candidates doesn't know & they just like fires in air that they have to work for the sake of society.....Joke....

That's why India is still a developing country. Even after 70 years the system made by Britishers has not changed. An IAS who doesn't know about the ministry or subject, he is dealing with, is made head of that Ministry or subject.
Truth..we need more lateral entry.. Britishers khud apne desh mein yeh sab obsolete kar chuke hai..the health secretary should be a renowned doctor , the finance secretary should be noble prize winner economist , the chief secretary should be a retired ceo of MNCs like Google , Microsoft..they are highly capable people with high IQs not someone who have just passed a exam and inteview just by memorizing topics.. utterly dumb system..

Don't die there is much more to life
It's amazing how he could say "Agar paisa unke paas pahunch raha hai, toh theek hai !" and the public just accepted it. This is the biggest issue with this service ....Corruption is endemic.
How do you define curroption?
Google collecting your data without your consent
Big tech companies snuffing out the competition before it gets to establish itself
Partisan journalism propagating agendas & ideology
Housing market meltdown in 2008 by investment Banking firms
Fake credit ratings from most trusted organizations for money
Actors /Cricketers endorsing advertisement for money
The problem is curroption is reduced to just bribery, corruption isn't endemic it's a pandemic
Curroption isn't exclusive for bureaucracy and it s shouldn't be the limiting factor for one to join the services
I'm sure, it must have made many uncomfortable.
He's justifying it. Must be very corrupt while in service.
He is not giving speech he is transforming #inspired #roadtolive
