I tip my lid to you Kate,there's not much more miserable than a motorcycle in the rain,long distance on motorways, it flips everything about motorcycling on it's head and makes it a chore,but you got to the dry weather and you remember that there's motorcycling and then there's everything else.👍

Did the tunnel and France Germany Luxembourg and Belgium last summer. 6 out of 8 days rained… 2 of them for full days. I felt your pain lol….. Yes Mike is a top man.

Ha! Didn't realise you're just up the road from me. Fabulous trip, despite the oil issue. The crappy weather adds some jeopardy and makes it memorable. You're brave doing it on that bike, my old bones would have given up by Birmingham 😁

Wow very impressive riding all that distance and most in the rain, I was usually ready to bail after a couple hours on my old 92 750ss. Glad you’re safe and well Kate, cheers to Mike !

I know right!! Apparently it was glorious 30 degree weather after the onslaught of rain and as we were heading back to the UK :')

A hint, Swan Neck adjustable clipons. Lower the pegs about 30mm and your body will appreciate it. A one-way valve in the engine breather also helps remove crankcase pressure increases.
Was working to a budget and clip ons would've used a big chunk :)

Looks like a fun adventure, I'm sorry that you had to cut it short.
I think those engines are known to leak at the base gasket. I had to repair my Monster 620 for the same reason. They're almost the same engine.
I was able to complete the repair without removing the engine. I'm sure Mike could do it in a weekend. The base gasket was not very expensive.

Yeah its a weird set up they have and it does happen in those engines. All fixed now and ready for the giveaway :)

I was quoted 2000 euros to fix at a dealership because of their availability and sourcing old parts. We got it home and have fixed it for the cost of a gasket set. All gravy and an excuse to try again at some point as I really want to build one like this as a forever bike. I'm jealous of whoever wins the bike :')
I don't understand how your bike didn't sink to the bottom of the ocean while crossing the channel. Motorcycles float?

Great film. You did very well. I'd get the ferry back and half way across chuck the bike in.
We weighed up all the options and what we did was the cheapest at the time :) especially filling up the van in Luxemburg

Onward travel to bologna not advised as it was still quite some distance away. Didn't want to damage the engine for the winner of the giveaway. So it's home and fixed and ready to rock :)
Great vlog,i would have kept topping up the oil every 50km. Then kept riding. It . thats what british bike riders do. Its all part of the experience! Whens the fix coming?

Terrible bad luck with the base gasket, especially after doing 800+ miles on possibly the planet’s worse touring bike 😂 Not too bad a job to do though once the engine is out, may as well do belts while it’s apart.
